@@namytachand indians who study mbbs in america pay a ton of money to do mbbs, and infact 60% of indian doctors are from private medical colleges.. yeah they just qualify neet(150 marks) and still become a doctor.. atleast a reserved category candidate score 500-550 and gen. 550+
Don't blame reservation every now and then.. u don't know anything.

I don't understand how these people never seem to really need sleep. An hour of sleep is a nap. It's like they aren't even human!

It’s better now than it used to be, now there are call hour caps. During my training, we all worked at least an average of 100 hrs per week. Wasn’t better for us or the patient, just was the way it was. Everything in our lives focused on work and education, our families were a much lower priority. The surgery programs were all pyramids, meaning that the bottom rung of residents were not renewed for the program and had to find other residencies.
I had three hours of sleep last night and made the mistake of sitting down in the recliner to send an email and finish my coffee and the next thing I knew, I was waking up, several hours later. *hangs head in shame* I really don't know how people do it. My body just shuts down if I don't sleep enough.
I was in palliative care the summer before last. My airway was closing on any food or fluid (including water) and I was wasting away. It will still close if I eat any carbs - my body even rejected the sugary IV they had me on, after not consuming anything for weeks. I can only safely eat very fresh lean ground beef and it has changed everything for me. Being low-carb/zero carb and keto-adapted makes an enormous difference. I used to require 10-12 hours of sleep and now I average much less, although I still have some healing to do. When I was in better health, I also noticed reduced carb intake reduced my need for sleep, as did intermittent fasting. You're definitely on to something.
In my country if you go with a bag to the hospital, you have to be prepared to return home with nothing!! Some kind of bermuda's triangle in the hospital

Our daughter lived here from 2002 til 2004 when her trach finally came out for good. We made life long friends there It was an extremely hard time in our life, but this children's recovery center gave her a much of a "normal life" as they could given the medical care she and all the other children needed. We will forever be grateful for this center

I can only dream of being a general surgeon, I would love to be anything in the medical field but i was always so intimidated by the whole thing, I was scared I wouldn’t be smart enough to learn the medical terminology etc etc so I basically never tried to be anything, I had kids instead because that was another thing I always wanted so now I have 4 and I am looking to join the phlebotomy team once my youngest is old enough to eat solids. In the meantime I am going to be borrowing books from the library containing information about phlebotomy and get some studying in before I join the classes. I’ve always loved the medical life.

I don’t know anything, but I’ve heard studying medicine isn’t about being smart at all, it’s about your work ethic and memorization. If you really want to go for it, I say do it before it’s too late!

Surgery residency must be super intense. Any tips on doing well on surgery rotations? Ob and surgery are my first two.

pgy1 here, most ORs have a lounge with a refrigerator, on surgery days bring a prepped meal to this fridge and drop it off first thing. Or just bring like a bag of chips and nuts or something, always bring some carbs
