- Join me for a 26 hour call shift and find out what a day in the life of a doctor is really like!
This Saturday I'm on call with a wonderful team of residents and medical students, admitting patients from the emergency department to hospital and managing emergencies in the hospital.
Today there were TWO code blues over night. These are medical emergencies attended by doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and anesthesiology.
What happens in a code blue? • DOCTOR Explains CODE B...

Just my additional dose of Greys Anatomy
Watching these always makes me wanna watch Greys Anatomy tbh
This is way better than Greys
I was looking for a comment like this
This is way better than a fictional series.
Rob Sports So true😂
Its sad how ppl dont realize shes staging her running to the code blue..obviously shes not gonna vlog when someone is about to die...
Skyla Stylinson it’s sad that she’s pretending to be, honestly. Don’t you have a job to do, and you’re worried about creating a vlog? I wouldn’t want this to be my doctor tbh
Nick Thompson being a doctor isn’t her entire life. She has free time when she’s not saving lives, you know
Nick Thompson you do realize those scenes were probably filmed on her lunch break or after her shift, right?
Ikr fucking idoits lmfao. Like our girls going to ACTUALLY JEPORDIZE someones life
@@nickthompson1812 calm down babe , how many lives have u saved in comparison to her? Shes showing what her day is like and it's clear she enjoys her work, she might as well share it with the world.
Pager screeches and clapping beat starts
Me: oh it's about to go down
Song Bird lmao okay cause period.
😂
Yeah
If you hear The clapping beat you know somethings going down
Right? :)
Just came across this video now so it has been 3 years since it was made. I do want to say that the young lady who was doing the recording is probably well on her way to being a very good physician. Tremendous personality and ability to relate to those around her. Wish all doctors exhibited the same qualities.
She’s now an internal medicine and rheumatology specialist!!
Obviously she’s not recording actual medical emergency events. It must’ve happened earlier so she wanted to recreate it or something to discuss it. She’s very informative and educational with her videos. If you pay attention to the visuals in her video she’s showing empty rooms and little to no one else in the vicinity. It’s clearly stage lmfao y’all needa chill
Its not scripted, she cant record any patient in it because its illegal. But the mere fact she has the time and power to record everything is just surreal. And thats why it got 1 million views by now. If you're in this field im sure you'll understand 😂
It's all Real. Because you can't call CODE BLUE in a fake situation, just for a fake RUclips video. it's a really bad situation to fake. it's illegal to use names & show faces. :)
It was a code blue but your not aloud to video tape anyone unless they give u the rights. Also somethings arnt aloud to be on RUclips . My mom is a doctor so yeah
Cant violate HIPAA.
She can record it as long as she doesn't record any patient related info, or you know, the patient. Nothing illegal in this vid
you can just hear the education in her voice, if that makes sense
Em & Soph it does she sounds so smart lol 😂
U are so beautifull and awearness videos about health
Clearly Canadian. The accent is strong in this one 😂
B H Torontonian accent 😄
I’m also a Canadian and I’m trying to “hear her accent” but as you can guess I can’t because it just sounds normal to me, what sounds different to you?/what did she say that really stood out?

Kim Jones I’m an idol trainee my day is 4am to 10pm It’s crucial to have good health and I use yoga if you drink coffee your more lightly to feel tired and sad so yeah that’s just my way of staying awake it’s nothing compared to her tho she’s so amazing
Drinking coffee and pop/soda
I’ve noticed she loves tea. Also has caffeine
Spoonfuls of caffeine at a time. Coffee, soda, candy, anything sugar or caffeine will do the trick.
C O F F E E ☕ 5hr energy or Monster/red bull will do the trick as well
When you here the clapping music you know it is about to go DOWN

Can we also remember that when a code blue happens she is not the only person going to it there will already be people dealing with it they’re just asking for all nurses and doctors
If she is putting her first priority on her blog than these Patients then she should probably think about quitting her job.
cole mason She still running dare she just grabs her phone and records all of the stuff that’s in the rooms are pre-recorded so she isn’t actually standing there filming a needle it’s pre-recorded
@@colemason7443 Except she isn't. Notice how all the shots are in empty hallways, stairwells, and offices? She never mentions patients' personal details. The only people she films are her coworkers, who can agree ahead of time. A lot of shots are likely recreations, patched together from footage filmed during free time and after the fact.
Nichelemmon On instagram I don’t want my nurse thinking, “oh I’m being called in!!!! Hold on let me grab my phone for my blog.”
cole mason she has to have her phone on her because in the hospital some areas don’t get radio coverage and and her medical textbooks are on there ( it is aloud in every hospital) she can run turn on the camera and keep running
first of all I’m trying to figure out why she vlogging when there is a code blue🤣🤣
She has a pre-recorded set for most of it, I think, other than that all she has to do is turn her phone on and swipe for the camera. She doesn’t always use a professional camera or a traditional camera, sometimes it’s just her phone.
That's what my mom said she goes "why is she smiling when someone's having a stroke"😂😂😂😂
dani moores lol she’s always so positive, I love it
Idk why but It actually looks more like a movie then a vlog
She records the actual code then vlogs the Dx. After the fact
Once when my baby brother was in the hospital, the nurse said “Press the blue button to turn on the TV” (She meant the one on the controller) but my dumb mind pressed the blue button that meant code blue. To get out of it i blamed it all on my baby brother 😂

I know I’m late but this is important ❗️
Most of the things are like recreations, she films when she can and definitely wouldn’t film if it could delay getting a patient help. ❤️ she doesn’t need any hate she gives up a lot of her personal life in order to make sure people are safe! Ty for listening 😌
The empty rooms and hallways are to protect patient privacy because obviously she can't show them, but the emergencies and codes are real.

Don’t ever lose your passion! The world needs more doctors like YoU!!
Never lose your kindness! So many old timer doctors become jaded and flippant. Love your personality ♥️
If I were a medical student, I’d absolutely adore you as a mentor. I’m currently a nursing student, but your passion and positivity makes me so excited to work in the medical field. ♥️ You’re truly amazing!
Hi!! I am a caregiver for a young lady with cerebral palsy, and wanted to tell you that she is a huge fan of yours! She loves to prentend that she is your work partner 😊. She watched all your videos and her favorites are the "code blue" ones 😄🥰. Continue your awesome work! Stay safe!
I LOVE how educational your videos are! It took forever to receive my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome diagnosis. Seeing docs who are committed like you gives me hope that patients under your care will have great care and receive accurate diagnoses, whenever possible
Hey girl I'm a zebra too :)
Me too, once I found out it made me really wonder how none of my doctors ever noticed.
Couldn’t agree more....I want her as my doctor I’m close to were she works....I could use a non dismissive doctor who cares lol
MommyOTC me too have a diagnosis but waiting for further testing....after complaining for over three years....
Right!! I dnt have eds but i do have many chronic illnesses n i totally agree!
I had a dr this past wkend that im really fearful for his patients. If I wasn't chronically ill for most of my life he would've killed me! Nevermind other drs who just don't listen or care.
Finding a good dr who cares like you Siobhan is truly such a blessing in the life of those who are chronically ill. Thank you for being such a great dr!! 💜
I usually don’t watch videos more than 10 mins, but your videos are interesting and fun to watch! I’m a nursing student and I love that you show how health care professionals work together
Thanks Charisse! Another big collaboration with health professionals next week that I’m excited about!
@@ViolinMD YEEEY!
You are literally the happiest doc I've seen! How do you keep up you're amazing and positive energy?! I can tell you really enjoy what you do, but I am sure there are some down points. So glad I found you!
I thought the same thing, I wish more er docs were like this. The ones I typically get the pleasure of conversing with are so condescending it’s disheartening. I avoid the hospital like the plague because of my past experiences.
Oh my, you are always smiling, that's incredible, you have such an happy face, that must be amazing as a patient...
Been in ICU paralyzed for a week, had a wonderful team around me, and honestly having people smiling and bringing a good mood around you helps a lot, and I mean a LOT!
Thank you for being so joyful, all your patient will love that expression!
I just stumbled across your channel. I love it. Very, insightful informative and entertaining. I will be hitting the bell. Thank you
I feel like when I would run up the stairs I would fall face first into the stairs😂😂😂

Lucky you’ll be in a hospital 😂
I’ve done that so many times albeit not in a hospital.
As a premed in Canada, I watch all the American doctor's channels but it's really nice to finally see a medical channel from the Canadian perspective! I also really like how you discuss your diagnostic process with us, very educational and interesting!
I have such respect for doctors and nurses in the hospital that put love and care into their work. They deal with so much crap sometimes literally. Whenever I go, I try to be as little nuisance as possible and as polite as possible
You are so pretty, and I love that you smile through your whole shift! I am sure your positive attitude is very well received by the patients you interact with! Never lose it, we need more medical professionals like you!
You’re very brave for saying the word “calm”😳

@@LBAsh What was the point for this comment
I just found this channel - literally in love with it. She seems so genuine about everything, not overdramatizing anything. I love studying human biology and human anatomy and want to become a forensics investigator in the future (medicine has crossed my mind lots as a kid).
I’m currently finish grade 12 and I just want to say that I REALLY appreciate this channel.❤️
Doctors, keep doing what you’re doing. I love you all for what you do.
Some of this probably needs to be staged for legal reasons (pretty sure there's no way you'd be able to legally film conversations about patients on the fly, they'd likely reveal private information and then the footage wouldn't be usable/would have to be edited very awkwardly). But the content of the convos seems pretty genuine. She probably asks the staff to re-do a more "anonymous" version of whatever they discuss.
Teddy James a lot of the cases from the shows are based on real life cases that have been spiced up for entertainment purposes
Richo cheted actually you can’t release name, DOB, SS# etc.
thats what shes doing, shes not gonna film when someone's gonna die
the phone calls probably are in the moment, just any details would be cropped out. the recordings of code blues are definitely after the fact
I have to ask: what is your skin and beauty routine? You are always glowing, despite working long hours and subjection to stress. I'm a 1st year nursing student and, during clinicals, I don't like the idea of wearing a lot of makeup. Yet, I don't want to look tired or unprofessional. What do you suggest? Thank you, Siobhan, I love you!

Lizzi Burns Funny you would say that, I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy I binge that show when I finish my schoolwork or have extra time. My aunt is actually a nurse and gave me her Human Anatomy and Physiology books. It’s very fascinating and amazes me how our entire body especially the heart works and functions on a daily basis. Code blues make me anxious and I’m not even a doctor. If I was I wouldn’t be a good one. I’m glad you can stay so calm I’m actually jealous lol
yeah, same!! I would get so anxious or freeze in those type of situations. I worked in hopsital for 1 month. Not for me at all. I prefer to working out in the community.
Well at least you tried I mean I couldn't even attempt to do what you did even for a short time. That's why I'm gonna be an elementary school teacher instead lol
As a resident, you don't do anything during a code blue. You stand there and listen to the attending and you put in orders.
Go through dozens of them and the nervousness goes away.
But still the thought of someone just having a chance of dying in front of me scares me.
I mean I guess that's why only a few people are doctors/nurses right?

These people seem like the nicest doctors on earth to be treating the sick. I appreciate the kindness and humility they give to their patients and when on the camera. Some doctors here in the United States seem to be very anti-social towards us and don't always explain the full picture.

This is really cool! I work at an answering service for a bunch of different medical practices and we do a lot of paging to the on calls. I work with pulmonary, cardiac/vascular, urinary, pediatric, and OB-GYN docs/CNM based practices. Really cool to see what happens with the pages we send out!
I love seeing how things are from your point of view. If I saw videos like this growing up it would have helped guide me on career choices. I love it and wish you were my doctor. Lol. You are so friendly.
This is the first video I’ve seen from your channel and I love it! It’s great to see an inside peek of what goes everyday at hospitals. Keep on the good work, you have a new subscriber!
So you play the violin, and you are a doctor

Your interactions with coworkers are incredibly hard to watch.
Don't watch it .....
With what they go through.. You have to have a sense of humor to ease some stress.
@@airforce262able yeah I understand that, and I respect the job she does greatly. I just feel so personally awkward when she's talking with co-workers, it seems so forced and often who ever she's talking to is visibly uncomfortable with a camera in their face.
Cali_Boy19 bro if you genuinely think that these are real interactions and not painfully, awkwardly scripted then you need to get a grip lmao
@@theforeverfalling Dude there's always that person that just loves to interact with other people. She's not awkward it's the people She's talking to. Now a days you can't have a simple conversation with a stranger or friends without them getting uncomfortable.
I’m new to your channel & first I just want to say thank you for everything you do to help taking care of others! I absolutely love seeing the “real life” behind the scenes of what the residents go through & what you all do to get through those long shifts! You seem to love your job & you can tell by your video! Again, thank you for everything you do & sharing it with us♥️
