Excellent! I love the idea of DIY advents and thank you for the dollar store idea for gifting socks (and other small stuff). I am participating in our family’s white elephant exchange this Christmas & there was a request for hand knit socks. I am going to use the gift box idea and throw people in the exchange off by weighing the box down with candy. 😊
Good grief! U are like a sock knitting dervish…Jana’s right lol jazz hands then “poof”; here’s a pair of socks, there’s a pair of socks, and oh look, psych, this is a sweater :p love seeing all ur shenanigans! 🎉
You will love opening your own Advent. I did this a few years ago and couldn't remember what I scrap I put in for each day and then had so much fun opening and remembering what project or purchase they were from. This year myself and a friend are making and swapping Advents! I can't wait!
Thanks Kay...I think I will because there's also the satisfaction of using up my own scraps 🤓 Swapping with a friend is definitely a good idea....are you putting other treats and things in as well or straight yarn?
Enjoyed the episode, Nancy! I've been planning my own Advent for this year, using leftovers from past Sweet Skein O'Mine calendars. Just trying to come up with a container idea.
Am so excited. My brother is engaged to a knitter/crocheter. AND she has a sister that is also a knitter/crocheter. Get this, am trading in one brother, for two knitters! So totally worth it. We, the two sisters, have met several times now, it's so fun. I'm an only girl of 5 older brothers. No on in my family, mom, aunts, or grandparents knit. So this is huge to me. Your advent idea is nice. Am thinking of doing one, maybe two, of stitch markers, or small knitting notions and gifting to my new future knitting sisters. Thank you for sharing♡
A great mini sode ,,Nancy!!! Great ideas,,,,!! Love the small boxes for sock gifts,,,Will look for those,,,!! I did an advent calendar for myself ,,in January,,!!!so have no idea what I put in the bags!!! My knitting friend and I are doing a swap again this year,,,,So much fun,,,and loved it,, Also a swap💓🎃with a friend from ravelry,,,,,!! Elaine Thanks 🏡💜
What a fun and thrifty idea! I have yet to catch the blanket knitting bug. When I think of washing and drying a wool blanket, it appeals less. Maybe you could give us pointers on how sometime? I ADORE your Rebel, Rebel! It's a dream knit for me but the hand-dyed yarn can be so tricky. You're very good at getting it to behave😊
Well...I haven't actually washed any of my blankets. No kids or pets! I would hand wash, wrap in a towel and lay flat to dry, but until I've done it...no recommendations 🙃 Rebel Rebel would be amazing knit up in a solid yarn as well. I alternated skeins every 2 rows for my hand dyed 💕
I really enjoyed the video! I am definitely in Christmas knitting mode ! I wish I had all those beautiful socks ready to gift someone! I need to get busy!
Ooh, I'm totally with you on the Simply Stripes sweater. I gathered a bunch of leftovers this year to use in a blanket. I'm discovering about myself that blanket projects don't stick....but I'm sure I'll love a sweater 😊
You sit on the floor in just the same way I do. Thanks for the sock packaging idea. I am aiming to do a surprise pair of socks for my husband as we have placed a small spend limit on gifts this year as our big pressie is 5 nights in Copenhagen in early december. Thanks for my lunch knitting interest. Sx
Copenhagen...dreamy!!! Glad to keep you company and I so rarely sit in the floor these days...lol! When the kids were small, I was always on the floor 🤓💕
Love this idea Nancy! This idea would be great for the Laura Penrose Sweet Shop Blanket or up coming Stella cushion cover. Also eyeing up the Rebecca Clow Daft days cardigan for an Advent;
I love the idea too! I kept my last year’s advent box…I will be working on that once I return. Can’t wait to see your coastal drift mitts in Deborah’s DK yarn. Cheers for now 😘
Looooove this Nancy! I kept the cozy knit boxes too! I’ll probably do this next year! Since i broke down and bought one… 😂 oh and ive said it before but ill say again! Your Rebel rebel is goooorgeous! ❤
lol! Wine-free is not the same! I bought an advent for the first time. I would love some great ideas for really great projects with which to use those ascents besides scrappy/crocheted blankets and scrappy socks. I’m betting you have some good ones! ❤
LOL Marcy!! I'll have wine next time...I promise. I've only ever done blankets with mine, so my Stripes Sweater will be my first attempt at something different. Scrappy socks don't appeal to me, but I know there are shawls and cowls. Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade has lots of options
I barely recognized you without your 🍷! 😆 What a great idea making your own advent, I tend to forget most the the yarn I have, let alone minis! You have really gotten me in the advent mood. I am planning to do Vlogmas this here. Not sure how I feel about posting everyday, but I suppose opening yarn daily will get me through it! 🎄🧶
Thank you for doing this mini-sode. I enjoyed it and am thinking I should make myself an advent from my left overs for a blanket project I can do in December. Ive never bought an advent before as I live in EC and the shipping would be quite a bit. And if I do it now I certainly won't remember what yarns I put together by December.
So fun. I love the little numbered bags. I had a 24 x 10g advent last year rand saved the numbered envelopes. I am actually going to use them this year as part of a mini swap with someone I was paired up with and the other half I am going to send to my friend in England. Making decisions on which yarns is tough for me though....Theme? Random? How to wind up 10g amounts into mini-hanks....tiny chair legs? 😂
Mini swaps are so fun! They will love whatever you put together, but the actual logistics of how to make and package then can be challenging. I vote for random 🙃
Great ideas! Thank you!! I love the fast food box idea for gifting socks.
My pleasure 💕 They are so fun and easy because I am not a good wrapper with paper and ribbons 🤓
Clicking thumbs up at the beginning because I know it’s going to be great.
Awwww....that is just the sweetest thing to say. Thank you 🥰
A great mini-sode. Thanks for sharing. I recently saw an ad that said "9 Weeks till Christmas"! Cheers
Yikes!!! Time is going so quickly!
What a brilliant idea, Nancy! I thought your sweater and socks were beautiful today.
Thanks Tracey ❣️ I'm looking forward to playing with my scraps in December 🤓
You are such a generous, fun person. Your sock-loving friends are very lucky. Thanks for another great episode. xo
That's so kind of you to say 🥰 It's a pleasure to come and have a chat 💕
A lovely surprise and a great idea. 🇬🇧
Thanks Elaine 💕

Brilliant❣️❣️ That's a great idea and hopefully will fool them 😆
Oh what fun! Great advent idea. You could fill all the boxes/bags throughout the year and really forget what's in there! 😂
Absolutely 💯 And I definitely meant to do it earlier this year, but you know what it's like 😉🤓
Fun idea to play with the stash. I saved an empty advent box from last year, might give this a try.
Definitely! I've been thinking about it for a while and the packaging is just asking to be re-used 🎁
Good grief! U are like a sock knitting dervish…Jana’s right lol jazz hands then “poof”; here’s a pair of socks, there’s a pair of socks, and oh look, psych, this is a sweater :p love seeing all ur shenanigans! 🎉
Bahaha...Jazz hands 💫💫 I was definitely thanking past me when I went through that pile 😅
I love the way to package the Christmas socks, I will take inspiration from that!
Perfect...I'm so glad it was useful 🎁 Thanks for keeping me company again 💕

Fabulous idea Nancy, thank you for the tip on gift wrapping for socks ❤❤❤
Thanks so much Linda❣️ I hope you can find little boxes like that in your shops 🤞
Your friends and family members are fortunate to have you! I got a self-stripping advent skein, let's see how I like it. Hugs from Tennessee!
I love advent self striping for fun Christmas socks 🧦 I hope you love it 💕
I toyed with putting together my own advent. After watching you I think I will! Great socks and great sweater.
Fantastic Karen...I'm glad it was useful 🎁 It's a fun way to play with deep stash. I'm looking forward to December and blanket crochet 🤓
Such cheery music and very inspiring for the upcoming season (whose name I refuse to mention just yet - ha ha)!
I thought it was fun and a little different 🎅 Thanks for spending some time with me 💕
Great idea!! Have fun opening your boxes!!
I definitely will! Just need to pick a blanket 🤓
The giggle I let out when you showed the socks 😂
Right?!?! I was very pleased with my past self for doing all of this ahead of time❣️❣️
Enjoyed the episode, Nancy! I've been planning my own Advent for this year, using leftovers from past Sweet Skein O'Mine calendars. Just trying to come up with a container idea.
Yay Alexa!!! Leanne sent me a link to Amazon...there are loads of options 🤓

That's amazing! You will have so much fun having knitters in the family 💕
Clever you getting all those Christmas knit gifts finished before the actual day is upon us! I’m such a procrastinator 😂
I am too Claudia!!! But I am always knitting so I just need to keep my gift list in mind through the year when I am picking next projects 🧶
Thank you for the inspiration! This was a fun episode.❤
Thanks Diane 💕 I appreciate you taking the time to say hello 👋
The diy advents are fantastic
It'll be great to actually use these minis...I'm looking forward to it 🎁
Brilliant ideas, you got me so excited for the Christmas season ❤
It got me excited as well Carol 🎅🎁 I want to dive into a new crochet blanket project...30 more days 🤣
This was so fun! Feeling Christmasy 😊
Thanks❣️❣️ I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🤓

Well done Elaine for being so organized and making your advent early 🤓

I'm excited to start it, but worried it's going to look bananas and I'll never wear it out of the house 😆😉
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing
It's lovely to come and chat all things yarnie 💕
Thank you for sharing your great advent idea :)
My pleasure❣️ We've all got loads of Scrappy bits that we can have fun with 🤓
