Perfect! Although I only needed to bleed the clutch on my son's car, your video was about the best how-to I've ever seen- from start to finish! Great job!
Thank you so much for posting this video it helped my husband and I so much on my 1997 eclipse. I really thankful that you did, made doing our first transmission so much easier!!!!
Your video helped out a ton you area legend for getting that transmission in so easily it took my half an hour to get it perfectly balanced to start one bolt on the bottom of the bell housing I have to pull the transmission out again because I didn't notice that the flywheel wholes for the clutch kit had been gapped from the previous owner neglecting the hell out of it
I DID IT -- also noting that you left the passenger CV axle on... nice little trick just poppin' her out without taking the wheel apart. So now I got the trans down, need to crack her open next...
great video had to redo the clutch on my 96 eclipse gst. your video helped a lot. took me forever to get it mated back to the engine though, then I had to take it back off to shim the pivot ball but otherwise it went flawless thanks for the help.
Enjoyed the video. The reason I was interested in watching it is that my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT has been in the shop for more than TWO WEEKS for a Transmission/Clutch installation. The car was stolen ...the clutch/tranny were completely trashed by the criminals that obviously couldn't drive. So that was bad enough ...I mean, it took more than a MONTH just to get the money together to FIX my car. But now, after paying 2/3's of the cost, I'm told daily that "it may be done tomorrow" WTH?
thanks for the fantastic video,...please help me understand why you pulled the passenger side axle,...was it to avoid tension while you move the engine up & down???
@jjrock5 Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 i have a double flood light setup with a tripod. i only use one of the lights with a 100w halogen and made an attachment for the cam on the same tripod. im going to be upgrading soon if everything works out
ok this video is going to help alot....i have 98 eclipse i got to put a clutch...i have a question.....you unbolted the flywheel while it was still in the car....how did you turn the flywheel to get all the bolts out........thanks
@hp11208 about average for a front wheel drive 5 speed. yea its a pretty neat setup... the old trans had bad synchronizers 3rd and 4th... 2nd was just about gone as well. she was in need for a rebuild. however the owner was on a tight budget.. maybe if i get some time i will pull it apart... if there enough interest
Hey I have a 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I put everything new clutch, master ,slave and new line. I did everything that you did except put transmission fluid in. What’s the purpose for the fluid and what causes the transmission not to go into gear while the car is running?
I pulled my transmission and all of the clutch to flywheel bolts where missing and only 3 bolts where holding the bellhousing on and the top bellhousing bolt whole cracked off hopefully i can get it welded back on the video helped out allot i just came across a ton of bs and the Jesus clip was missing i had the clutch job from hell
Great video! Thanks for your time documenting this! Don't think this if for me but very interesting to watch your steps to remove. what about that Clutch assembly? never heard of an all in one like that. Kind of seems dangerous balancing tranny on a shop jack like that. Do you always work like that or did you do it that way for DIY'ers? What does a stick tranny weigh?
@johntracey523 thank you, i actually like that style clutch assembly. saves time in my opinion. cost a little more though. as for the jack i agree its not the safest method. i do have a trans jack but found it easier and faster to just muscle it. at this point its my only option to be honest... i grew up in a full blown family repair shop... due to hard times we had to move on... doing this job on a lift is much safer and easier to say the least... some day i hope to have that again
I have a 98 eclipse that keeps popping the 5th gear. I recently had a shop change my cutch and pressure plate, since then it has been popping my gear when in5th so I have to hold the shifter in when accelerating. any suggestions? besides not using that same lousy mechanic?
Hey man, I have a 2001 eclipse and has 142,000 miles.. factory clutch. Im afraid im going to have to replace the clutch soon (they only last so long).. do you know if 01 is a similar setup? (Tranny looks exactly the same). You have a lot of patience, God bless you man. Great video, and good luck!
I have a question, why do my rpm's go up to around 1500-2100 revolutions when i'm driving and I stop and press down on the clutch to go into neutral.? I have a 98 eclipse gs, 5 speed.
I have a 2001 dodge Stratus se coupe with eclipse motor 2.4lt 16valve with a 5speed manual transmission And the clutch went out And I lost 3 gears And now the engine wnt start now
Buena noches para cambiar el automático del eclipse Mitsubishi motor cc2000 4664 modelo 92 por por una de cambios Cuáles sirve me hace favor cuál caja le sirve en colombia cali gracias
I bought a clutch pack from LUK part number 05085, and the screw holes don't align between the flywheel and pressure plate. I was able to get two opposite screws in and the other two holes don't align. One a tiny bit and the other one is completely off. WTF. It's a second time I replace the clutch on this car and first time I'm having this problem. Seems like the manufacturer fuck up.
hey man i own a2001 eclipse and sometimes my car wont take revesrse (manual transmision) i just want to know if you know why??? if is my clutch or my tranny
I got it off im trying to get the transmission aligned with the blcok now. Cant move it towards the block anymore. There is a inch gap in between the transmission and clock now
+Dom Hines U have to put the clutch on the transmission, do not bolt the clutch to the flywheel (flywheel should b bolted to the block) not the clutch. Put fork, throwout bearing, and clutch on the trans.......then put trans on.
+Dom Hines u need to get 1 bolt on the top, make sure the circle templet is in first, then get to the bottom templete and then bolt it up to get it in......u might need to pry the motor and get it in there.....i took me 40 mins to take it off and like 1;20 to put on,...
I know this video is old but, Ive called a million places tryn to find out what type of fluid I need to put in the tranny after I install it,...The best I can come up with is PENNZOIL Synchromesh,...will that work?
Thanks, I take that as a huge compliment coming from you. Always enjoy checking out your channel on my spare time to see what’s new. Love the sense of humor, knowledge sharing and of course the trips to the track.

Exelent video. Hi from México City. Now I know how repair my Eclipse. Thanks You very much.

This is the most precise video about how to do this job. And seems like a very Hard work!! Now I Know why mechanics charge so much for this work
I DID IT -- also noting that you left the passenger CV axle on... nice little trick just poppin' her out without taking the wheel apart. So now I got the trans down, need to crack her open next...

Did you have to use some type of puller to separate the wheel from the axel . I can't seem to separate the wheel from the axel..
ok this video is going to help alot....i have 98 eclipse i got to put a clutch...i have a question.....you unbolted the flywheel while it was still in the car....how did you turn the flywheel to get all the bolts out........thanks

Do you think this video will help me on a 2003 Mitsubishi eclipse gs
@JohnzCarz thanks for the compliment, your welcome
video quality is great. What camera are you using? Does it have a built in light?
What do you recommend when trying to extract dead bolts ... And also which direction do you turn to loosen the bolts ...
Dude thank you so much for making this I just ripped my tranny out and this have me so much insight. Awesome !
If you have oil in your bell housing you need to likely replace the input shaft bearing and seals.
Great video! Thanks for your time documenting this! How did u get off the bolt on top of the passenger side drive shaft?

I have a question, why do my rpm's go up to around 1500-2100 revolutions when i'm driving and I stop and press down on the clutch to go into neutral.? I have a 98 eclipse gs, 5 speed.

Buena noches para cambiar el automático del eclipse Mitsubishi motor cc2000 4664 modelo 92 por por una de cambios Cuáles sirve me hace favor cuál caja le sirve en colombia cali gracias

That’s a dummas question honestly
Does this includes the 2000 gs eclipse?
@johntracey523 forgot to mention never weighed one however this one was under 100 lbs not bad at all just awkward
I bought a clutch pack from LUK part number 05085, and the screw holes don't align between the flywheel and pressure plate. I cant get my flywheel to turn. The transmission is out of gear. any advice??

@hp11208 thank you
hey man i own a2001 eclipse and sometimes my car wont take revesrse (manual transmision) i just want to know if you know why??? if is my clutch or my tranny
I could be your throw out bearing, I'm trying to drop the tranny to find out
You are awesum!Thank you.
how did you get those 4bolts off. i dropped the transmission but the clutch is still on it it keeps spinning when i try and get those bolts off
+Dom Hines Some1 hold the crank on opposite side, another taking off the clutch bolts(the 4 bolts)
I did all that. And it still sits a lil ways from the block. Do you think if i start bolting it it will start getting flush with the block.
+Dom Hines u need to get 1 bolt on the top, make sure the circle templet is in first, then get to the bottom templete and then bolt it up to get it in......u might need to pry the motor and get it in there.....i took me 40 mins to take it off and like 1;20 to put on,...
Yea especially on your back lol hope this one holds up for you
Tengo la transmission dañada de la mitsubishi endaevor 2004.
I know this video is old but, Ive called a million places tryn to find out what type of fluid I need to put in the tranny after I install it,...The best I can come up with is PENNZOIL Synchromesh,...will that work?
i dont know if you ever found out about the fluid, but its ATF+4, I use Castrol Synthetic in mine. Hope this helps.
well done
