Hey Arktix, love your videos. They've been very helpful since the recent PC release in March 2024. Unfortunately, your strat of using Elite Vertical Shock Traps doesn't seem to hold up for the PC version at least. I've tried a dozen times and can't get them to insta kill the Clamberjaws. For the 2nd and 3rd challenges I just ended up tying everyone down with the Ropecaster, making them brittle , and unloading a sustained burst from my Boltblaster into them to kill them in one go. Then just rinsed and repeated until all the machines were dead. It's really tight to make the time in the 3rd challenge (Wildfire), but I managed to do it with 15 seconds to spare after practicing a bit. Hope this comment helps anyone else who might be having trouble on PC! Cheers mate and keep up the good work!

They don’t trigger/deal damage like they’re supposed to. Nixxes should be aware and hopefully they patch it soon. Thanks for sharing your strat to help others!
To my surprise I found them all quite easy, precisely because they are open loadout and by this point you are usually fully leveled. Only exception was the 2 Bilegut + Clamberjaws, but that was doable too. My secret? The Burning Shores Ropecaster. God I could kiss that thing lol

You showed the alternative weapons, but didn't tell which weapons would be traded with which better version. I think you mentioned some extra alternatives mid-match, but I almost missed it. Gameplay looks good and is explained clearly. Not flawless, but that is to be expected when you have to talk + play. We aren't all gods in the arena like Mr.Fancypants and WallisonPaolino Nice references. Looking forward to the runs that are inspired by videos like this. It is nice to have someone make the difficult arena challenges broken down into repeatable steps. Well done, and nice video!

Thanks for this guide as well! Not an easy challenge, but absolutely no comparison to "Apex Predators", imho. At least now that I know how to get the traps working on the PC version by lowering the framerate to 30. I don't know what's going wrong internally in the game engine, but it really seems to work. In "Wildfire" I did most of the damage with traps. Shock for the Clumberjaws, and Purgewater for the Scorchers (and a few Precision Arrows), even without using Valor Surge.
Love your videos! Just finished burning shores and last side contents. You probably figured it out but if you haven’t, the resource scanner (the mask thing) on the clamberjaws allows them to see through the smoke. Some clambersjaws dont have it and they do get confused by smoke

Thanks! And ah...good question. They used to sell them on different sites, but then Sony shut it down because it wasn't officially licensed merch. I didn't get one before that, so I found someone on Etsy who makes custom canvas prints and sent them a high res image of the game art to print for me.
Great vid as always, and with purple gear! I'm curious what you think of the bolt blaster's Spread Blast skill w/ an all critical hit build? I've been using it really succesfully. Full stamina gives 2 uses of that, and when it crits, it gets me about 8,000 damage on average. I find that kills things faster than the sustained burst, which can't crit. I also think I used chain burst in every one of those challenges, except maybe the last one. Burning shores felt like it was designed around chain burst!
Thanks! And Spread Blast is definitely strong. I thought about using it in this video, but for it to be really effective I feel you need a legendary boltblaster loaded with crit chance/elite crit coils. Since I was using a purple one Sustained Burst was the better example. But yes, I’ve transitioned to using Spread Blast in the open world when I use a boltblaster.
Hey Arktix, My build / load out is quite different from what you used here (because I spent a ton of time and effort on developing it)… But the thing is: since quite awhile I’ve become a fan of the Chain Burst valor surge, and dealing with a group of machines in a small area I would definitely use that (together with my GL critical hit build): I would probably even try to line up some machines and shoot them with piercing arrows in the process for extra combo damage… What are your thoughts on that kind of strategy? Do you think that might be effective? PS: what is your current level? (That number just keeps on going up, right? :-)
Hi! My current level on my main save is 130. Would be a lot higher if I didn’t split up time between multiple saves, but yeah I just keeps getting higher 😁 I like you’re build. Definitely effective. And I’ve become a much bigger fan of Chain Burst since Burning Shores as well. Strikethrough arrows are definitely nice to combine with Chain Burst as well. I think your tactics would be harder for the average player to utilize, but I absolutely agree they’re very effective.

To my advantage: I strictly play serially (not parallel), my saves are milestones after each play-through. So, it all ads up for me. :-) The overall advantage of my build IMO: I’m not a die hard gamer, having picked up gaming again after a 10+ year break from it. And yet, with my build I’m currently playing on Very Hard, something I couldn’t imagine when I started HFW. :-) Then again, I’ve learned from the best master classes one can find on YT! ;-) (even if I do my own thing) (Mind you: no Arena hacks for me - matter of principle, so I’ve known some times of financial hardship (only had 17 shards in my account half way the second run), but that all gone, now) Thanks for all the good HFW stuff you do! :-) (y)

Well, unfortunately, most of those times utilize exploits/hacks, especially on the PC version. I’m hopefully Guerrilla can remove them so legit times can be featured as they should be. Some of the challenges can legitimately be completed very quickly though.
There isn't much they can do to make open loadout challenges difficult. Being able to bring all your gear in means experienced players should have no trouble with these even on Ultra Hard.

Hey thanks! And no there's no invisible wall stopping my from falling in. You just have to have a light touch getting Aloy up on those spikes. It's easy to fall off them.

I completed all of them within time limits on Ultra Hard in NG and NG+ and is the worst shit about the game with those literally imposible challenges and random annoying no human speed and pattern attacks, even with chessy trap trick is a shit as fuck. I hope for Horizon 3, Guerrilla games doesn't add any of this shitty rng challenges, literally you depend on a bug benefits you like, Machines not attacking or break the hitbox to complete it.

Today i learned that traps are significantly more useful than I thought 😂 i don't think i ever used traps in my two playthroughs of the game.

I just made sure they were all beserked and poof they killed each other. Loved that tactic.

Tbh I just froze most of the machines with the instant coils and just hit them with bombs or braced/focused shots with Irivs

I dont know how the topnotchers were doing it in less than 10 seconds. It's like they were playing as a Horus and one shotting everything.
