    I've used other paints and can't wait to try these HoK colors next! Thanks for the informational videos here, John.

    so you don't have to apply a basecoat? prime and paint? Because if I have to add a basecoat first, to me that's the same as spraying candy.... Primer-base-candy

    Sucks here in socal their so strict with voc. We cant even buy any urethane basecoats anymore. We have to buy the concentrates as shown here and mix it with clear. Have to go to arizona to get the good stuff.

    I used to use HOK paints years back and was a huge fan of their colours. I recently decided to get back into painting and used the KBC01 but for some reason i keep getting blistering. What the hell could it be? I always leave sufficient time between coats so the solvents can gas off but still have the same issues. Im now trying a new method of IR baking/drying the basecoat off fully before clear coating to see if the problem comes back again. Any ideas what it could be?

      Adequate drying time is the only thing I can think of. Sounds like you’re doing the right things. Without overdoing it, did the forced heating help in any way with your results?

    I have a question Jon said shooting it over a black base give it depth. So does it work well over silver and gold base like true candy where it is brighter on silver and darker on gold?

    • @B15SDMDESIGNS
      @B15SDMDESIGNS Месяц назад

      If you are going for a dark candy, I would use a dark base. If you're going with a light/bright candy then go with silver or similar. Don't try to paint dark candy over light base as it's extremely hard to colour match, trust me.

    Great product, but do NOT buy from TCP Global. In 2 shipments, every HOK product container in each box was severely damaged, and the gallon of S2BC02 Orion Silvermax was leaking.

      literally just opened my first box from them. damaged product, called them and they couldn't care less. it was almost a blanket answer of how it happened, which was kind of a BS answer.

    I have been painting for about 15 years, but have never sprayed candy. I really want to do my own project truck in candy. I worry about being able to repair a true candy if something were to happen, also worry about all the horror stories of how easy it is to mess up a true candy job. The candy base that you were showing seems to help with those issues. You stated in your video to use a dark base such as black. Is it not recommended to use a silver or gold base? It would seem that using the silver or gold would have a more dramatic effect in the sunlight. Any advise you share would be greatly appreciated.

      I’m in Uk so getting paints a arse.used work in a custom shop a pick up how to paint.I’ve painted my 1/14 truck the hole truck was done siliver the bottom half had a candy black then a few coats of candy red then mobiliser then few coats of red.top half faded into a candy orange then clear coated.with the black on bottom it makes the paint look so deep like the mobiliser is inches after inches deep a the top half only looks like it a inch or so.
      Here in Uk candy’s all concentrate put in lacquer a you just can’t get the depth with it because you putting to much down with the lacquer.which you know 5 coats a you got paint that just too thick.try siliver a gold then put over a black and you’ll go black 90% of the time.
      Only thing I don’t understand is your clear coats saying use this a use this.here you just get one type clear.love to be out there with all paints you have.would love to get hands on live fire from tcp Global but not ship it here🙁

      These are KBC's, Kandy Basecoats. They are semi-transparent. They are best sprayed over White, Black or Silver.
