- This Saturday will see Round 5 of the 2024 Rugby Championship take place and the second game of the round will be played in Santiago del Estero between home team Argentina and World Champions and current Rugby Championship leaders South Africa.
After an emphatic win over Australia in their last game, Los Pumas will be trying to go back to back by taking on the Springboks at home.
South Africa have appeared unbreakable so far in this years Rugby Championship so will this be another excellent game from then or can the home team cause an upset of sorts. We find out on Saturday.
As a retired Kiwi living in Mexico I am just trying to play a small role in helping the great game to grow across the world.

Hi Mark, to the point as usual, I like that. The only guy that I doubt is the Captain. Not sure he is up where he should be and should also not lead the team BUT Dr Rassie is the knowledgable here so I will hold my horses. I pick up the vibe that everyone wants the Boks to loose this game. All over the internet but I think it will be a 60 min game and then the slow poison will take it tole. Thx for your channel. Keep up your honesty and I will keep on following you. Regards. Go Bokke!!
@PvC63-Jan thank you for the kind words.
Just to pitch my 2 pesos worth in, I want rugby to be the winner this weekend ( again) two great games that get us fans excited. Enjoy
Welcome back mannie libbok the only springbok player with unique secret weapon the infamous cross field kicks no one does it better than libbok, libbok needs to add drop goal kicks we are missing that I know kolbe keep trying to do drop goals n always misses if libbok can master that he will be a complete player❤
Great comment, lets see how he goes this weekend. Enjoy
I don't watch him much domestically does Manie ever drop kick? Agreed with Kolbe he's amazing all round rugby player but I swear that's around 4 drop goal attempts without success.
Moerat will have to take this chance to silence his doubters (myself included - he just haven't shown any mongrel). I suspect that when Libbok comes on, he will actually replace Kriel, who will come off (he does need a rest), with Am shifting to his normal 13 and Pollard to show what he can do at 12, plus continuing to do the goal-kicking - freeing Libbok up to focus on just setting the pitch on fire. I hope to see that !
Ok I am watching out to see if that happens.
Hi Mark. Bok fan. Thank you for your objective comment. Keep up the good work.
My pleasure!
Always value your opinions, Mark. If boks are within 7 points with 20 minutes to go, boks will definitely take it; just too much power in that bomb squad.
@RashaadRyland thats how I am seeing it too, thanks for the comment
Great Annalise as always, thank you Mark
Glad you enjoyed it
As a Bok, big respect to Argentina. Top quality team. Going to be an epic game.
Interesting how far Argentina has come as a southern hemisphere rugby power. They used to be a weak add on to TRC. Now they are contenders having beaten the ABs at home and the Wallabies. Respect. Go Boks
Indeed it's great to see for the game and let's hope other smaller nations are inspired by them. Thank you for the comment
These guys compete on a world stage, with arguably a non existent local comp. I don't have the stats, but a bunch of farmers, their pals, a few lads that play overseas, get together to have a day!. Absolute respect!!!!
It’s what happens when you give people with potential opportunities…
Well done Mark. Another Saffa fan here.
Quite agree with your analysis. Expect traditional SA strengths of scrum, attrition, suffocating defence and kicking in the first 30.
I expect our tight 5 to have the edge which neutralize their formidable back 3.
Their back line then has no oxygen and is forced into mistakes.
I am yet another who wants to see Libbok, Pollard and Am at 10, 12 and 13 and then to let them open the game up in the 2nd half.
Love your balanced analysis.
Argentina definitely have a chance but could just as easily lose by over 20.
Fascinating game.
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and input.
I love what you are creating here!
What number is in the lottery tomorrow?😅😅😂😂🤣😂🤣😎
Thanks Mark. Great Analysis. Springboks by 25. Our bench is just too strong and our backs too fast for Argentina.
OK, thanks for your sharing
Do not climb so high that the fall can be very painful 😎🇦🇷
I don’t know what Rassie sees in Moorat
Something I guess, what dont you see in him?
@@davidekerold9071 I'm thinking discipline
You’ll find out soon enough…. Many said the same thing about J Kriel…
Great show Mark. As always. Keep it up. Love from SA. God bless.
Pieter
Thank you Pieter
An Argie here: the SA Team is formidable, no matter who steps onto the field. In a way it amuses me to read many SA "defensive" comments. They needn´t worry that much. SA by 20-30 points is logical. I don´t like our 2nd row, however promising they are. ARG need the best of the best, courage and luck for the whole match, to beat SA. My fellow countrymen won´t like my opinion, but I am playing it conservately, instead of our typical "big mouth" attitude.
Thanks for sharing
Mate don't write your team off Los pumas can easily take this test, I still call it for the boks but only by 3-7 here in SA we love you guys and your game
@@robcrocker348u were saying?? 😂😂😂
Looking forward to this game, as a bok fan i can see where theyll target us in the lineouts, running plays off that. If the Pumas get that second pass off 10 its going to be a helluva game. Great work Mark your analysis improves by each week.
Hi Mark ! I Am An Argie ! We Did it
You did, brilliant job, well done, enjoy
Its a bold gamble from our SA front.
Rassie has consistently said his main objective is to develop players for the future and that we 'will' loose one or 2 here and there in the process. (God, considering where we were as SA before the Rassie era this is heaven, even if we loose)
Thanks to the last few years and his stewardship we are blessed with a lot of players that have already been 'blooded', and are chomping at the bit to get game time.
50/50 chance in this one, but they still have to come over here in the end to sort out the final records. Gonna be great.
Argentina for years have been hot and cold, I expected more from them in the RWC even though they finished 4th overall. They pack more punch than that in modern rugby if they can consistently bring it.
Hoping for a well spirited game from both sides.
Well said, solid comment. Enjoy the game.
Rugby is rugby.... the best team of the day.
@mikespencer4922 indeed.
Great video Mark ! 👍
Nice comment, thanks.
Its all going to be about that first 20 min. If boks can contain the pumas. Should be a bok win. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for that.
Pollard will also help to play the beginning of the test in the frst half in the oppositions half. To keep the game tight.
He will indeed, thank you for the comment
Should be a great game which I think will go down to the wire. I expect the Boks to win but the Pumas are at home in front of a passionate crowd so so they'll definitely be up for this one and see it as a opportunity to pull off a famous win.
However, if it's a close game which I expect it will, the last 15 mins will be crucial and this is where the Boks will step up as they usually do.
Boks by 5 for me.
@vladtheinhaler6579 OK, close one then, lets see.
If the Boks secure the result early, the crowd will be silenced but angry. I hope they cheer with passion, avoid the jeers, and respect the visitors. Show a little bit of education and culture, FOR A CHANGE.
I think it's a good Bok selection with a purpose of being able to create different players moving to different positions which will take the goal kicking pressure off Libbok and they'll have a plan for both halves.
Nobody can dismiss how good Argentina CAN play on a good day so it might be a fast tight high scoring game but the Boks SHOULD take it by 10 regardless of the home crowd and venue influences.
@groenrizla2513 ok, thanks for sharing, lets see how your predictions come along.
The home crowd is noisy and disrespectful. I always find it very embarrassing as a host. I like the word CAN. Potential....
@ricardoprovan5159 Where was that stadium the Boks played at in 93? Tucoman or something where the crowd were spitting on the Bok players and the game ended up with constant fighting.
Just makes me wonder if Arg aren't going to use their crowd to max advantage and that's why the game is going to be played where it is today.
@@groenrizla2513 It pisses me off when the crowds misbehave in such a way. Anywhere (a recent example is Paris 2024 Olympics....). You are right about Tucuman, but that is not the reason they are playing today in Santiago del Estero. It is simply to help develop the sport in the interior of our country. A few decades ago all internationals were played in Buenso Aires.
No entiendo el ingreso de Oviedo por Gonzalez , pero veremos en la cancha si fue acertado o no .
Las posibilidades de Pumas son minimas , pero ya hemos visto que pueden dar sorpresas .
Que sea un buen partido .
It wont be an easy game for the Boks. I worry about the captaincy of Moerat. However, Boks bench will again be the difference. Boks by 5, tight first half
I am not convinced about Moerat.
How about we see how he goes in this one. Enjoy the game and thank you for your comment
Mark ek dink die game gaan naby wees in die telling. Maar ek dink die bom squad gaan die verskil maak! Ek dink Manie het nog baie om te gee!
Stem saam met jou my vriend, kom kyk hoe gaan beide die span en Manie , geniet
I know alot of you. Have an opinion. About Salmaan. Moerat. 😅. To be fair I think he will eventually come to the party I think the animosity comes as lock as such a talent rich position in SA there's plenty deserving.
I like this, fair point, thank you for making it.
Fancy a draw in this game. 21-21.
@MarkBourke777 awesome, first person who has said so, so good luck
SA35 ARG.28
OK, that would make it a great contest
If the players have been chosen to wear the green and gold, they are good and probably deserve their spot, as for the combinations, it's difficult to know before we see them playing, I suppose it depends on how well they have prepared, and how much the opposition disrupts those combinations, I'm always quietly confident, but let's see if the Pumas can put a spanner in the works
Thanks for this one, not long to wait for game time.
Macolm marx to cross the whitewash 1st for the boks....let the heavy diesel engines do their thing, then let the backs light it up when the poison kicks in......
Lets see if that happens.
Howsit Mark good mid-morning from the bluff Durban, I really think this game is going to go to the boks by 3-7 purely because of 2 choices moerat and libbok, I'm so glad Rassie has gone with Handre starting, AM and Kriel is going to be good to watch, Etsabeth will come on early and tack the captens band, I also think Arg are going to bring it to take another scalp
Hola Durban,
@robcrocker348 all good I hope, lets see what transpires in Argie today.
Hi Mark, Springboks are world #1, too strong for Argentina and will take them by 10.
Yes they are, Roger Federer used to lose some times when he was World No 1......……: ) enjoy the game
you prepare well opjective thx
Thank you too!
7 players being given a chance, that could be a bit much, definitely concerned.. just an early card and big problem...
OK, lets see what happens.
Argentina win in Santiago del Estero, by 15+
OK, thanks for the prediction.
@@insiderugbywithmarkLoving the diplomacy. Argies by 15 ...Pffffft
@@insiderugbywithmark
Well said Mark go bokke
Thank you.
Great analysis as per usual Mark. Boks should win, but they will have to stay focussed for 80 minutes. I think that is why Etzebeth is on the bench, it will be his job to keep them under a blanket. The Argentineans are unpredictable and will take a gap if the Boks dare to fall asleep. Discipline is going to be crucial, not just for the Boks, but for Kremer as well, a known dirty player, hard as nails but not always above the line. I look forward to watching van Staden's tackling and Libbok's cross kicking for his wings. And of cause Pablo, I'm a big fan and look forward to see him go against the Boks. Regarding Am, great to see him back, and I hope he has a blinder of a game - I feel people who give De Ellende and Kriel a hard time just need to wake up and watch their craft, they are so solid for the Boks in that midfield and go together like red meat and potatoes, and this is exactly the reason why I believe the ABs are struggling with Jordie and Rieko, with Dmac at 10 as well, they make me think of oil and water, it just doesn't mix. Anyway, let's see what happens, my popcorn is ready for the show and my money is on the Boks, and I have been a little bit ambitious and put money on the Wallabies for an upset, they can if they want to.
Moerat is the big? So far I am not impressed nor a fan. I am a fan of BJ Dixon, but he will have to play a big game. A dual prediction: both Boks and AB by 27.
OK, thanks for sharing then, lets see how your prediction goes.
Moerat the worse bok to start since Marvin orie
👏👍
Thank you
Which channel
Thanks Mark good show Joey from Athlone South Africa
Thanks Joey, nice comment
Mostert, De Jager, Snyman, Klein, Etzebeth are all clearly ahead of and would all start ahead of Moerat. So why does keep picking someone at captain who is at BEST our 6th best lock??
I think Rassie sees Moerat as a natural successor to Etzebeth. It could be Snyman but he is injury prone. I am also waiting for Moerat to step up. Let’s see what he can do tomorrow!
Springboks to win by one point
OK, close one then
Hi Mark, thanks from your analysis, the springbocks are the champions for a reason, los Pumas they have to prove to be at the level
Springboks to win by 2 scores.
Ok thanks
Argentine team is good I want to to see the scrum ,Iine outs and line speed bring it on ❤ 🇿🇦 RUGBY
Mark is too flattering to ARG.... But, all in all, his analysis is sound. I wish Lord Kirwan followed his example, haha!
