She meets a team of Afrikaans farmers in the town of Brits near Pretoria - and also with a unit in Diepsloot, a township of more than 300,000 people.

This documentary is shit they don't hijack cars in diepsloot
ANC is obsessed with what is happening in Gaza and yet they are failing to clean the mess in their backyard, what a stunning irony.
How is that got to do with the other? It's like saying "why is the U.S condemning Russia and busy giving arms to Ukraine while they have issues with mass shooting".🤦🏿♂️
The commies world wide have their marching orders. You surprised?
It's a common tactic in countries with bad, corrupt, or just plain evil government in charge. Try and get your own people distracted from the leader's incompetence by pointing it out in other nations. And 100% of the time it never works.

@@dudebro3250 i hope that this is a joke. the murder rate halved between 1994 and 2009. you can't base how "good" the country was on what it was like for the white minority while ignoring what the country was like for the black majority during apartheid
ANC one of the most racist, corrupt and wicked governments in my lifetime along with Pol Pots regime
I'm 26 years old. 2 of my friends have been shot during hijackings. 1 passed and the other lucky survived after having being shot 4 times. I am currently living in Korea and I have to say, as much as I love home, I am never going back. People don't understand the physiological stress of living in an environment like South Africa. It's only after you've left where you start to realize that it's not normal.
I had the same experience. It's taken me a long time to adjust to normal living overseas. I still can't understand kids walking on the street at night playing on their phones
Preach. It's the constant fight or flight for me.

how did you find yourself there did you take the teaching english route like most south africans?
I am so sorry you had to go through that,I was also shocked when I moved to the UK (Northern Ireland)and i saw people taking walks around midnight on their phones with no stress.police are also respected here, how I wish we could have that in South Africa😢

how the hell are you still living there? death wish?
I can't even watch this as a South African. The anger and anxiety this triggers is too much. We are hostages here... We don't leave our houses. In my town, even on a Friday night, everything closes before 10pm because it's just too dangerous to stay open. Winter is coming and that is stressful because that's when the house breaking occurs. We can't even be outside in our own yards anymore without being paranoid. And when they rob your house, they don't just want to steal - they want to rape, brutalize and torture. Sometimes I feel like I live in hell. And BBC you should do a documentary on how rampant child abuse, trafficking and rape is...that too is another reason I think this country is hell. It's too demonic what's happening here.
It sure is buddy I wish you all the best 👍
What do you think the rest of the world can do to help?
@wwondertwin the world's idea of helping was to slap sanctions on Apartheid and usher in the ANC. As far as the world is concerned its South Africa's problem, and they will need to sort it out. Unless we can dispatch some refugees and make it the world's problem they don't give a fck unfortunately.

The detective told us from the beginning that finding them would be near impossible and that he alone had more than a hundred murder cases he himself was working on. That is the reality of South Africa.
This is a war with blacks against whites
Daaammmm!!!!!😮
When you deal with the government you need to apply pressure on them. They will just treat your case as a number toll that case is declared a coldcase. Demand justice demand answers. Go to them until they give you answers so they start prioritising your case.
So sad, they will only focus on cases that are high profile like AKA or viral like the Sasko employees. Those cases should definitely be solved too, but we also need cases to be solved for everyday South Africans.
A country so beautiful and yet in crisis, it breaks my heart as a South African.
Yeah, time to hit the bricks yet? Unless you're already residing elsewhere, I'd start filing immigration papers right now if I were you! I'm an American, you should probably be one too - there is far more opportunity here than there.
And you do realize as bad as things are, they will get worse, and nothing will ever improve there, don't you? And you also know the reason why the problems are impossible to truly fix.
@@robertmaybeth3434 So strange that you have forgotten how racist certain States of America used to be. People with black skins were treated worse than animals! But then it 'CHANGED', and those people were treated equal. So, what makes you think that there could not be a 'CHANGE OF GOVERMENT' in South Africa too? God is a God of justice! He is in control!

What happened to south africa? 20 30 years ago it was a beautiful tourist destination. Now i wouldnt even think about going there.
The ANC became obsessed with self gained wealth that they forgot and lost compassion for its people. Its obsessed with creating divition to cling to power. The leaders are thiefs themself. Counsilers and murdered for positions.
They didn't listen to Israel is what happened. Israel told them that Apartheid was for the betterment of South Africa. Yet they believed lying politicians as well as lying media that it was in their best interests to end it.
South African people deserve better, those who say it's not bad are in denial.
It's pretty safe for tourists. It's just the locals that bear the brunt of crime.
What is happening in South Africa is what is happening around the world
My late husband (South African) and I (Singaporean) left the country in 2012 after world cup soccer thinking and hoping South Africa's crime rate and living conditions there would be improved. Unfortunately it's not so. South Africa is a beautiful country. Me coming from S'pore one of the safest countries in the world is sad that nothing has changed over the years since we left. We left because of the crimes and a few of our friends got murdered and shot. I hope and pray the country will have a better future and be safe for all South Africans. 😞❤🇸🇬
True. 🙏
😢
Not the entire country has a high crime rate! Have you ever been to Elgin, Griekwastad, and many other small towns outside the cities of South Africa? You should go and visit there. I can promise you that the people in those small towns, live a good crime free life!
After struggling for freedom they did nothing with it.
Lady the only thing I will predict is, if you take a look at how South Africa is today in 2024, it will look exactly the same in 2074, because leadership that is as bad as SA's never advances the culture or the nation. When leadership is too busy stealing from their own people, whilst spending the rest of their time figuring out ways to steal even more, the chances of corrupt leaders diverting any money or resources to building up their own nation is ZERO.
So take a good look at SA today in 2024, take a picture, emblazon in your mind's eye, the South Africa of today. Because right now is the best it is ever going to get.
Afriforum does not campaign on behalf of Afrikaners in particular. They are there to help all South Africans.
According to Afriforum on its website, it "was created to call up Afrikaners to participate in public debate and actions outside of the sphere of party politics."
But they highlight too much on white genocide
As a South African. This is the reality here. Hope elections can take the criminal power away from the anc government so that we can heal this beautiful country.

Apartheid is the key reason behind the large inequalities in South Africa. Inadequate responses to the conditions it created has further prolonged the poverty and inequalities. Remember white South Africans paid no reparations after '94, state intervention in the African communities has primarily been through welfare and basic services. The white economy was never restructured, only privatized.

I’m not sure that South Africa was “looking good” for non-whites. As bad as the ANC is, at least there’s a black middle and upper class now, rather than being pretty much exclusively white.
@@MrRobertzingelaNo. When there was apartheid, there was still cultural values. Behaving like this is not part of the African culture. This violence and brutality is not because of apartheid. Most people in South Africa haven't experienced apartheid. We have a young population. You can't blame the white man for everything. We have a young population. The children born when apartheid ended are now 30 years ago. They don't know apartheid at all. Single mothers and drinking and drugs came after apartheid. It's not poverty driving this. People were poor during apartheid but they weren't so brutal. And everyone forgets the political violence before the first election in 1994. The ANC and IFP were killing each other left right and centre fighting for power. That wasn't inequality and that wasn't because of apartheid. Blaming everything on apartheid is not working anymore.

When you refuse to accept the reality of what Apartheid did for all those years of subjugation and racism while making white South Africans rich and blacks living in ghettos with no proper access to well paying jobs or good schools you can make a comment like yours. It's Crazy How Whyte people in South Africa only think that they are the only victims of Crimes..... Whereas they implemented an Apartheid System which is Largely the route cause of these Crimes...
The Boer and English built schools, clothed the people, developped an economy....Yes there was some foolishness in Apartheid but damn those guys built a country. And it was offered on a silver plata to babajan. As is with the case in all African countries they ran it to the ground. And they have the audacity to blame white people. Thats full blown kak. cancer and apartheid both share: a, e, r
@@geelangfordo3272building the best police force is not what curtails crime: generational poverty and segregation which are hallmarks of apartheid (Jim Crow) which have been imposed on the majority population by the then-white minority will take a while to unwind.
Or communism.
GOD told us what will happen, and still we carry on!
Every second broke my heart. Nkosi Sikelei MzansiAfrika
Lol what right do you have.... but theres a dead man at her feet. When you don't live in the townships you dont understand township problems.
I empathize but I also realize the lack of acknowledgment on their part. Everyone else is blamed foreigners, apartheid etc but truth is the criminals are known to the people.
South Africans are not sick by blaming foreigners about crime go look at the stats how many foreigners commit gruesome crimes in our land on a daily basis.South Africans are as guilty as well however we cannnot be debating this no foreigner is supposed to commit a crime in land that isn’t his.
Indeed we are enablers I guess it's hard to take the blame hence we blame everyone except our selves
As a young man growing up in Congo 🇨🇬 I’ve always looked at SA as a sort of an African success story. But it’s sad to see how this amazing country keeps plugging into chaos.
Our constitution is our core problem, how many times do these guys get arrested and released? then we spend more on them than homeless people
"There's no evidence that farmers are at any greater risk than the average South African."
No stats provided.
Yeah, okay.
Mind sharing the stats?
They attacked because they isolated. Stop believing that white people ar3 special
Stats literally support this claim but try proving something to yall racsm and apartheid apologists.
My brother a Nigerian was shot dead in black door night club Johannesburg but the police did nothing and the killer ceo black doors club is steal out there 😢😢
Sorry that’s horrible . I’ve had family members murdered too here. Only 12% of murdered are solved 😭
This is insane, I used to work at blackdoor nightclub as a dj and host. I left because of the criminal entities that were running the club illegally. I was unfortunately working on the night this happened and it was covered up so blatantly that I couldn’t stand to stay there anymore. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope the owner is found and brought to justice. Last I heard he fled the country back to Nigeria after the shooting.
I am so sorry to hear that your brother was killed. Was he a legal South African immigrant? Just interested to know.
@@brandonmccloed1273 That is what they do, all the time. How disgusting that a Nigerian could just come to South Africa and open up a night club illegally. South Africans are not allowed to do that in their country. I wonder if he had South African citizenship. I suppose not!
We can't blame everything on the government. We live with these criminals in our neighborhoods and we do nothing
He said it right, 1 life too many! Crime has no colour😢
From a Afro American, this is the residual effects of generational trauma and oppression. This is how it manifests(presents itself). The accurate accounting of studies are only now being looked and taken seriously. We struggle with it even now, ourselves.
Come and take a look yourself.
I think you will find it's quite systematic, right from the very top,to the very bottom.
Own kinds are suppressing their own people.
They simply only care for themselves.
What rubbish, they are vilont from the cures, blood shed from the time of chaka ancestral worship and witchcraft
Cry the beloved country
This title reminds me of the great classical book Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. A guy commits a murder and gets away with it but his conscious eats him up so bad that he turns himself in. I wish Dostoevsky could’ve lived in South Africa that he could see that it is possible for men to murder and have no remorse or guilt whatsoever for their sins.
My favorite book. Rodion Raskolnikov was supremely intelligent to be compared with fools committing crime in South Africa.
She says who keeps the patrollers to account, what about the S.A Justice system or the corrupt politicions ? Who keeps them to account ???
Thank you for putting together an amazing report, very informative and neutral in views to the hard reality. 🍀 Just wow
BBC was never neutral
Every single day I see videos of crime in SA, especially Cape Town. South Africans, why not elect a President who will fight crime, every body deserves to live in peace man
Because we have a majority black population, meaning over 80% who believe/believed that a black president I.e the ANC would benefit the black, as if overnight poor people would become rich and have mansions not realising there are poor people of all denominations, we all suffer the same, everyone with a home today worked hard to earn it, but some groups feel they are entitled to Rob from others! Minorities will continue to suffer under the rule of the black government who has damaged the entire country
Because 80% of the population is black and they keep on voting for the ANC due to tribal pressure. If not the ANC, then they vote EFF or MK which are just as bad.
Great journalism by the lady and her whole team!👊
The story was very well done and showcases that no one is unaffected by crime in SA. The main problem with the reporting is the same one faced in the real world - race. Both communities are doing essentially the same thing with the same goal, even if some people want to pit them against each other. Because a divided country can't stand united against corruption. It's so sad that if the police and court systems just did their jobs, none of this would be necessary. The journalist's closing comments ring true and I commend her for her effort and dedication.
You voted for Zuma and Ramaphosa and that's what you get. On 29 May change the story
some are still willing to give Zuma a 2nd chance
so don't blame me for voting for DA
I pray for all the innocent people in Africa I wish i could save them all amen
