    My Favorite Small block Ford head of all time...ive been using them close to 30 years ...They are the most Versatile Small Ford head now Copied by other Manufacturers...But this Head Started it all...Way back when it was originally designed by Will Burt and Cast by KPI...👍🇺🇸

      Yep! There is only so much "change" you can do to heads to make them better. When they came out with the Twisted Wedge head, that was it, the end of head technology. There will be nothing better period

      twisted wedge went towards Cleveland without going all the way. But those heads were dominant.

      Same here!!! I had the old Will Burt Highports back in the day on a 347 and I have the Bennett Racing 265s with modern castings on a 434 today! I absolutely LOVE these heads!!!

    If you need more area in the pinch with a head that uses pushrod "holes", fill the holes with aluminum slugs with a slight press fit, weld on top and bottom, put your port in, and re-drill the hole offset, utilizing offset rockers and lifters. With big offsets, drill the hole and then mill the material between them out.
    If non offsets are used, ream the holes to fit a bronze sleeve. You can then port to the sleeve, or only install the sleeve if you break through. That's how I approach them. No need to worry about welding in the hole.
    I have a pump gas 468" SBF build for a grudge guy I will be using these castings on utilizing that approach.

    Great info, your comment about raising the roof on a port with a low short side makes sense. I mess with older heads that all suffer from this so it's something I'll look into.

    I love porting heads I just get upset when I see a bunch of things not to do and nothing that hold weight to what is said. But I started watching your videos, subscribed and im in for more content. I like seeing your work and seeing what has helped you has actually worked for me. But some things I need to look into, we are always learning even the pro's.

    The high port was one of if not the first aftermarket sbf head. Almost all of the early turbo Ford guys ran them and many records were set with them. Very versatile head with no geometry issues like the early twisted wedge.

    Been here since 1000 subs. I don't watch too much of your content about your truck because I'm a mechanic so I've seen quite a lot of that side of things.
    But the head info is great.
    Do you watch David Vizards videos? He's always going on about CoD and port energy but you have showen cases where it's not desirable.
    You made me able to understand what Matt at MBE is actually talking about when he states that the start with cross sectional area first then look at CFM and CoD.

    Years back i bought a set of victor jrs at the bone yard they were new but were the display set at parts store. Now a decade later he needs heads for a 347 stroker been at machine shop few months now lol Do you think its worth the gamble and send you the victors to do a mild clean up n complete for a aggressive street build or invest into something like these trick flow's?

    Eric.. one more stupid question please? I'm old school where I was always told "heads can't really be repaired".. If you can weld up a "break thru" from porting too deeply, could a crack be repaired? Or is it simply a matter of the pressure difference between combustion pressure and cooling system pressure? That you can hold back cooling system pressure with a weld repair, but trying that with the combustion chamber is out of the question? Once again, thanks in advance!

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  2 года назад

      Heads can be repaired. To much welding causes it to need heat treated again but that’s rare.

    • @corkforbrains

      @@WeingartnerRacing Thanks for your response.. I'm kinda sorry to hear that.. I now cringe at the number of heads I've tossed because they had cracks.. Live and learn..

    Question: when looking at flow numbers at 12:53, the stock intake flows less at .600 than .500, but then increases again for .700 and .800. Is that a mistake, or is it acting that strangely?

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  3 года назад +1

      It’s not a mistake that is caused when the air separates from the short side and restricts the flow.
