We used to put slippers in the bottom of the intake port and then raise the roof. Some guys will build up the intake floor with devcon but that idea worried me. Didn't want it coming loose.
Do you ever do any sbf stuff or Cleveland stuff, I’d like to see it. Enjoying watching someone who knows there stuff, it’s hard finding someone on yt that actually knows what they’re doing.
With that much difference in short intake vs long, should one spec different cam profiles? Maybe a degree or two later intake CL and three or so degrees later closing? Just wondering.
Pro's do that. Nascar does lobes for 2 or 3 levels of power to widen the torque band. Also to make up for differences in flow front to rear. Nascar engine and pro stock 500ci are better than Formula 1 engine builders considering what they have to work with. I'd venture to say the best in the world. Running a Nascar engine at 875hp will run for a season of drag racing without a refresh. If you let it ride out to 1,000 hp you would have to freshen it up a few times a year.
Hi, goraceparts on ebay sells ferrea valves and in descripton it says they back cut them. Do you know if thier good. I looking for 2.02 1.60 series 5000 +.100 in length for old style sbc
Thank you for the answer on the bolt holes being ground into, when porting. I have burned into one on the intake side of a SBC Dart Iron Eagle head bolt and was afraid that I ruined the head but the hole is about a 1/8 inch square hole. So now I am happy to see that with those gaping holes you have (lol) that I am going to be OK.
This is from Facebook group : On a conventional port such as these, LOW, WIDE short turns make more power! LOW, WIDE short turns lower the apex velocity, not raise it. That is all!
Low short sides don’t make as much power as taller short sides if they have the same area over the apex. Usually though you don’t need as much area of the short side if the short side is taller because you don’t have to slow the air as much to make the turn. Which group?
This is true... to much LS tech tjat im not interested in. My youngest boy was gonna LS an S10 with a 78 mm turbo anns I talked him into putting a BBC in it. Haha then the turbo.
You do excellent work and great explanations. If you are handy with a Tig welder and/or devcon you can raise those standard port heads right to the cover rail. Tig it up and face it or shim it with sheetmetal and a gasket on each side of the sheetmetal. Devcon or Tig the floor up. But the good part really is your you can take a set of heads that Harry Hogg went hog wild 😜 on and fix them up.
So much to take in. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Eric have been checkn out yer work for awhile and I enjoy you videos. Just wanted to say thanks.

I am looking to do some porting on some stock heads for a BBC and would like to know about any issues to look out for.
I lived in Tulsa in 2015-16....it's not for everyone but nice to know where your shop is.
Tulsa is different but the suburbs are nice.
Mr. Weingartner should all short side radius be shaped like a roller coaster then to help air speed and velocity?
I'll Leave it a mystery... We'll say its above 91% well played sir.. Appreciate the content Eric.

Would it be possible to improve the 400-800 lift area on the Profiler Sniper X, Sniper XL and AFR 385?
how would you compare the short side on a Dart 320/360 old casting vs. this Profiler? Thank you for all of the videos! I watch all of them.
Darts have a good height on the short side.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to understand airflow like you do? And maybe isn’t so good with a grinder yet
Master grinding shapes first. Then learn the math then port heads.
Nice work. Sorry I may have missed the intake runner volume after porting . What CC is the runner ?

Ahh not a shock but I never in the video said it raised velocity at the apex. People hear want they want to hear I guess. Thanks for watching.
Awesome info and data Eric. Keep'em coming.......btw....RUclips is flooded with LS content do a video on the new S 10 toys....
