A Redditor from Spain debunked the story in the comments. Apparently you need to have two surnames in Spain and that’s from both your parents. Changing your surname is not possible and illegal there, you can’t even change it if you get married. Technically, you can change your surname, but it there are a lot of hoops you need to go through and you can’t choose a random name to go with. Another key thing that was brought up was that they don’t celebrate Christmas in Spain, they celebrate something different on early January. There were other things mentioned by the commentator but I think I made my point.

It's tragic however it's one of many just like the one's where we get our underdog, there will always be the fallen protag ( not literal every time like this instance ). People need to understand that as great, opportunistic, and challenging life can be, it can also be UNFAIR. EXTREMLY UNFAIR for some. Story 1: I read a comment on reddit that points out the inaccuracies of this story. Even when they kindly try to play devil's advocate, it's clear that the entire story is karma farming. I almost believed this was real.
Yeah I agree on it being a karma farm. Like the moment he went on saying “oh they made fun of me” and all that I knew this was a typical bull-shiter post just to get internet points.
It was clear it was the case the sister was a lesbian. It was just too perfect of an obligatory "diversity" appeal. Same when any religious or controlling parents are christain. Never any other religion, just christains and NEVER EVER will they detail what type or sect they belong to. Just generic, republican parody christains. This story didn't have that but appearance of the mandatory LGBT character was too on point. The suicide at the end with very similar "voices" in writing only furthered the fakeness.

There’s was nothing they could have said that would have made anything better, and they deserved to hurt and feel guilty.
S2: All the recommendations to call CPS, I understand the impulse. But I wouldn't expect much. The CPS system is so overburdened with families in horrible circumstances that they flat don't have the resources to help all of them. It's to the point where, unless the kids seem to be in immediate danger, they're not removed. There's just not enough places to put kids they pull. And the places that are available might be just as if not more dangerous than where the kids come from. Foster care/group homes are notorious for being dens of abuse. Sometimes from the caretakers, sometimes from the other kids in the home. It's really a tragic circumstance that doesn't have a solution.
