In 6:49 you mentioned that 20 dollar group rated task relatively boring and not joyable.. but they accepted money for giving false feedback Then in next slide you mentioned that they explained their behaviour as itne paise milre hai toh kyu na hum lie hei bolde right? My question is these both slide has an opposite explanation? Could you please clear my doubt . Thank for your time
Hi, thank you for your query. So here is an attempt to anwer it: in the slide where they say that task is relatively boring (this is when they were asked to give their honest feedback about the task, that is how would they like the task if they weren't given any money at all for doing it; thus honest feedback) Whereas, when they had to initially accept the offer of telling a lie to other people that task is fun, for which they would get 20$, then they used (itne paise mil rhe hai, we can say a lie in return of earning money) this as an explanation for their lying behavior. However, the group that got just $1 for lying, was at the end within having a cognitive dissonance (in short, feeling of guilt) that we lied for just $1, that's too bad. Thus, in order to avoid this dissonance or more so to remove it, they ended up rating the task as really interesting (even when they were asked to give their absolute honest opinion about it) I hope it clears your doubts 👍
