  • The performance is from the beautiful church of Vaison-la-Romaine, France. In July 2015 we in Sofia Vokalensemble were taking part of the Festival des Chœurs Lauréats and got the chance to tour in Provence.
    Soloist: Susan Radif
Only in Sleep-A Poem by Sara Teasdale
Only in sleep I see their faces,
Children I played with when I was a child,
Louise comes back with her brown hair braided,
Annie with ringlets warm and wild.
Only in sleep Time is forgotten -
What may have come to them, who can know?
Yet we played last night as long ago,
And the doll-house stood at the turn of the stair.
The years had not sharpened their smooth round faces,
I met their eyes and found them mild -
Do they, too, dream of me, I wonder,
And for them am I too a child?

This beautiful choras is universal, and transcends the times
It is a luxury and bliss to fall asleep while listening to such a beautiful singing voice

this choir has what the Greeks call "throxos", guts. The layers and depth to their singing is amazing.

How lovely to hear the alto and bass parts so clearly. Live recording vs. Trinity college's staged (still lovely) performance seems to have done the trick.

I remember there is another performance of this song along with the Philippine Madrigal Singers. So moving and ethereal.

I couldn't understand what the soloist is singing, the Trinity College Choir's soloist however enunciated the words clearly and easily understood. I love the bass section here though, I can feel them vibrate. Still a great job

A very strong contender of the previous rendition by Trinity College Choir (Stephen Layton). Sublime!

Yeahhhhh, Rachel Ambrose Evans is pretty tough to top!

Yes but Trinity’s soloist nailed it. Rachel Ambrose Evans I think.

I was thinking the same thing. This was a great rendition, but Trinity sang it better hands down. Their soloist stands out.

Breathtakingly beautiful!! Time stands still. Sara Teasdale's tender story unfolds to us, and in us, thanks to Sofia's artistry. What does 'gentle' sound like? this. ♥

I suspect that the acoustics of tne venue add much to the rendition. (Not to take away anything from the choir, though.)

    团听起来跟剑桥三一合唱团一样好,solo就差远了……
