In 2015, after Total War: Warhammer was announced but before it released, Creative Assembly announced that they planned to create a trilogy of Total War: Warhammer games.[1]
In 2016, Russian data-miners discovered plans in the Total War: Warhammer game files for a third game featuring Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh as factions.

Total War: Warhammer is part of Creative Assembly's grand strategy Total War series. Even with the Empire rework, Nordland still gets destroyed. Well, it makes Karl's job easier as he no longer needs to worry about confederating them anymore by just taking the lands for himself.
Tbf in my games Nordland ends up as one of the most sturdiest elector counts, living even when everything around it goes out in flames
In my current KF campaign, I've barely made it in time to confederate them when they were clinging to Zalzenmund, besieged by goblins. Lifted the siege with their own army, then made a pincer move on the orcs. Around 70-80 turns later, I've recruited Gausser again, gave him Bruckner,and made him an almost full-cavarly army. Just for lulz.
@crioTimmy I did that with Karl, a few empire knights, some life wizards and full stack of demigryph knights. Honestly though the best by far is just having a balanced army with 2-3 helstorm rocket batteries. Way more cost effective and works for nearly any type of battle except ambush

Nah most time better to give back settlements and cash in on authority. Also AI gets cheats for resettlement an recruiting and you don't have to pay for all those buildings or garrison them

In my campaigns laurelorn always ends up beating back the Norcans, Orcs, Beastmen and Chaos after Norland dies lol. thus making the Tree huggers better citizens of the Empire of Man then Nordland!

I always put the second lord I hired (usually a Warrior Priest) as the Elector count of Nordland
using Smile Friend's landlord voice and laughter is an outstandingly brilliant idea, never will I get this out of my head when I play as Empire now
In all these that depict Karl Franz with a problem, has anyone noticed that he does not cry, he does not rage, he does not even flinch. He takes it all with grace afforded by his station and simply deals with the problems of his empire.

Ive always hated Nordland, they either just act like maniacs and attack marienburg, ostland and ostermark or heck even Reikland, or they just follow Middenland and whatever they do as well.

In my current games, Middenland gets wiped out by khazrak on max turn 5. Nordland dies to Norsca, Festus and other friends some time later xD

Funny enough Nordland is one of the few elector counts that did well in my campaign, actually held off wulfrik for over 20 turns without my help while i finished off vlad

I have indeed. I did it before I confederated them (so they had it for about ten turns or so), because I didn't want to deal with Monke and raid shadow legend (Be'lakor) until I was prepared to take them out. But as a general practice, no I wouldn't suggest it. Though Nordland almost more than even Ostermark or Ostland is about as useful as a sack of bricks.
I do because it's fun for me to have buffer states. I like when someone else has to keep my flank protected rather than having to maintain a massive army in Marienburg to keep the Druchii or whoever away

Reminder that Nordlanders today are all half-Norscans. This also means that Archaon isn't half-Norscan but 2/3rd.
4th edition WHFRPG changes the lore slightly in Salt and Silver. Skaeling war chiefs actually ruled in Nordland before the turmoil and Grasser has Norse subjects/warbands

last time I played as Karl Nordland ended up being pretty much the only empire faction that survived all the way to the point I could start confederating them. The rest got like... Instantly rushed by Vlad and died before I've even attempted to mount a defence... Elspeth managed to hold him off long enough, but would have also perished if I hadn't given her that military aid army

Sadly, that old lore. The new lore is Franz made Grausser the new elector count of Nordland after the Turmoil, seperating Nordland from Middenheim rule.
The Drakwald now isnt claimed by Nordland, being solely middenheim now and the Laurelon forest is recognised as Wood elf territory, with treaties confirming Nord settlements.... But Nord settlements are slowly encroaching into Laurelon lands.
The 2nd fleet is also more effective and isnt a bastard lovechild of Nordland trying to be relevant.
The 2nd ed WHFRPG lore is what TWW is built on, well, spinning into its own timeline anyway.

Not gonna lie, I still don't mind if CA make an update like, making every Elector Counts having it's own "non-generic" unique model like Boris with their own voiceliens. Sure, they are still unplayable, but now I am even more inspired to confederate them.

Nordland dies by turn 20 every game. The beast men, who start in France but if you don’t play then start 5ft from altdorf, just kill toddy by turn 10. So I have to go up there and remove fatty, goblins, elves, norcans, beast men, and worst of all the French from those lands
It is annoying how utterly useless they are at keeping Norscans away, they aren't even a speedbump!
I just wish the empire wasnt such a slogfest, its honestly babysiting the AI whist enemies pile up left and right and when you dont clean them up quickly they become a real threat.
So far my campaign was:
Deal with the secessionists, then deal with the goblins, make peace with them, cuz the devs decided just to fuck with the players they also need to own wreckers point.
Now I need to deal with Kazrak the one eyed, who raids the land, I defeat his first army, smaller second army and then kill his heardstone.
Then I need to deal with Kemmler who rushed Marinenburg with 2½ full stacks of zombies, I get bogged down in Bretonia as a result.
Now Skrag conquers Avernland declares war on me.
Meanwhile Festus grows to much, rush one army up to him and try to handle him.
At the same time kislev handles drycha, and takes a bunch of empire territory, which to my relief somehow goes back to ostland.
Skrag to my relief never made it towards Reikland and wants peace.
Festus almost defeated, Vlad, after being held at bay by elsbeth for surprisingly long, starts to make inroads.
Another fire to put out.
Almost at the same time Wulfrik invades, I try to placate him since I need to focus on vlad. Vlad contrary to the previous 2 games is surprisingly easy to defeat. Probably since you gain a bunch of movement buffs for the empire and a bunch of anti corruption stuff.
Meanwhile the damm black pit tribes are at war with empire factions again, making it necessary to fight them ... again I declare war with my third army.
I sigh as reach castle Drakenhof, vlad for reasons unknown has a bunch of dwarf settlements and killed Zhufbahr. I mop up the rest of the settlements. But like previously Kemmler, Vlad still has a doomstack of zombies .... you know despite having no settlements and upkeep.
After knocking out the black pit tribe a final time, Wulfrik has become a mayor problem, he is now waltzing through the empire with 2 stromg armies.
And has a settlement in the middle of the empire, wich I need to knock out.
At least thats easier now that I only have one front and a confederated Elsbeth.
But I also need to start a war with the orks, to take Drychas forest from them, to unify the empire.
I kill Norsca on the empires coast, finally get my empire safe but now need to campaign abroad to get 1 Avernland back 2 kill the orks who I fought for the forest. And sell the mountains to Kazrakh a Karak.
So yeah the empire campaign is essentially a game of whack a mole.
Also why did the developers think it's necessary to kill the woodelves?
You essentially get a bunch of settlements (Woods, Black Pit, Brass Keep that are needed, but no necessarily useful)
With every episode I feel worse and worse for Franz, he has to put up with so much sh$t it makes big E look like he’s on vacation.
Everyone knows Nordlanders are just Norscan monkes pretending to be imperials (but still better than Stirlanders)
Nobody likes Norland anyway.
