I don't know what your vocation is , but you should be a teacher, you are clear precise, I even could build a deck after your instructions. You're a blessing. Hugs
Looking good! Looking forward to the upcoming full build vid!
Damn bro.... you do really nice work!
Know that you explained the ledger and the flashing I feel I can build a deck now thank you very much
You make everything so EASY to understand! Thank you!
thank you for this series, i thought i missed one cause i went from the footings to this frame already built. can't wait to see it done.
edit: nvm, i read that you were coming out with that vid
I like the fact you comment on other options and how it could be done. To vex my daughter, there's more than one way to skin a cat:)
Your explanations are always so clean. Thanks, even I do not have a house, your deck series are fire !
Thanks so much, Rose!
It would’ve been awesome to see this go up from start to finish, in clips of course. Nonetheless, it is self explanatory for anyone who familiar with this type of work.
Thanks for the video
Hey! I did make a couple videos on the entire deck process. I also made a start to finish time lapse video if you are interested. ruclips.net/video/SehPijelC4g/видео.html
Thanks for watching!!
it's a joy catching your vids ... you do a fantastic job on all of them. Great explanations and take time to share how you think through these projects. Great vid man.
This video was amazing and incredibly helpful!
I absolutely love your videos. So low key, well explained and great work!
Great to finally see a video of someone who does it right and to code ! I see so many clowns with videos and it makes me cringe ! Great job 👍👍 Your doing things right and the workmanship absolutely shows ! Awesome work !
Looks really good
Excellent job!!! I agree with another comment that pointed out that you need to be an instructor.
Fantastic ! I just LOVE this man .
Thank you for your very clear explanation.
That's the reason I like your video.
Many thanks.
You are a great teacher. And a great video indeed.
Love your videos... makes me want to build something. You're very clear and precise with instructions and explanations....blessings!
Thanks, Iana!
We're in western Oregon and used concrete footings on gravel. Made the 2nd one floating since we had some rotting of the siding with the first attached deck and our neighbor put his foot thru the top redwood boards! It rains a lot here and decks take a beating.
I’m surprised you do not have a north eastern accent. You explain all the steps so we can follow them perfectly.
Great job bro!!!
Great video!! 👍🏼
I’d love to see your finished desk. You make everything seem so easy to understand! Great tip on how to make sure the deck is square! 👍🏻
it's too low hanging for a desk, also it gets loud outside :D hehehehe
@@karolzigmunth5784 LOL I guess I didn’t notice the typo, though I did mention DECK in the last part of the comment! 😊
@@cynthiaq1073 just teasing :D
@@karolzigmunth5784 Me too! 💕
Great video man, I'm literally building the exact same thing.
Clean, nice!
Omg THANK U! This was exactly the info I needed! Tackling my first deck build for my mom, hoping to show “the manly men” (that think I can’t do it) just how tough we ladies are. Since being in 2 abusive relationships I have learned to do a lot of my own DIY things and knocking off my moms hunny do list too😆
Really love the way you explain and go into detail. My 1st job was at Home Depot and I miss the DIY projects but just a little research goes a long way. Thanks for your channel and are you still sore from jack hammering those steps? 🥺😅🤯
😏
It's coming along. Are you going to treat the deck or paint it when you are done? Thanks for sharing.
Nice little deck really strong not need for 2x8... But is better to be safe looks nice it aint going nowhere
I like your deck build stud
Have you thought about putting a fence on the border of your property with some bushes/bamboo plants to lessen the noise of the cars.
On something that small, could you use 2x6 joists? I have a bunch of 2x6 laying around and plan on making a similar sized deck/porch
Great video!………… 😎👏✌️🇨🇦👋🍻
wood decks are my favorites
Beautiful construction! It's satisfying to see something done so well. My only question is about how close the posts are to the house siding. Is that going to make it difficult the next time you paint the house? It seems like one more inch of space would have made that much easier.
I’m Oklahoma they have to be 1.5” from the structure.
What is the end cap for the Timberlock lag screw? have never seen that before. Thanks so much
Drove by several times during filming, haha. Looking good! I just built a 4x10 deck over here last month. I’m right down the street if you ever need an extra set of hands!
Hey neighbor! 😁 Thanks, Pete! I appreciate that!
HA! This guy was running up and down the road making you do retakes. Time for a 3AM jam session as payback. 😂
@@js8039 haha, nope. Just returning home from work!
@@PleasantStreetCemetery 😆
The way you flashed it makes sense because in theory if that copper flashing went straight down you think water would get through the breakage caused by the lags, anchors?
Ok, I like it, I don't think I can do the lag into the house thow. I will let you know, your looks nicely done.
One of my smaller decks are build sideways, I see a weak point in one corner near the ledger board. Framing seems good, other than them building it sideways instead of joisting from ledger. Can that be repaired or braced and blocked safely or should it be a tear down and rebuild. 8ftx6ft
P.S your voice really reminds me of another channel called "corporals corner"..
Both very informative channels haha
Love the content dude, keep up the great work!
I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the kind words!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair he does bush craft/survival stuff he builds a lot of stuff out in the forest, I think you'd really like it actually.
My pleasure! Really enjoy your vids 👍
Hey. Where did you find sheet copper? How is tha family?
Can you talk about resources to find out what your local building code is?
Is it OK to rip a Pressure Treated 2x to custom width, and nothave to 're - treat' with a chemical preservative onto the cut side?
Going to build one about the same size. Isn't it preferred to notch the posts so the lumber carries the load instead of the lag bolts? Thanks
Yes or have full bearing. This is actually no longer up to code in my area (I can just put a 2x4 under and down to the concrete). Be careful with notching though, If you do notch, don't continue the 4x4 up to use as a handrail. Attach a new 4x4 with lags because notching is against code in a lot of places... if you are getting it inspected of course. Hope this helps.
Why would you want to go up against the house if you don't have to? Once the lumber dries won't all these bolts come loose?
Thank you for the video. Can I build this same deck accessing my home using a free standing application. I prefer not using a ledger due to moisture considerations. If so how would you recommend footer and post location closet to the house? Thank you.
In Massachusetts do you need 6x6 wooden post or 4x4? I hard 6x6 is code
@@johnrebelo6688 4x4 posts . This will be a 4x8 landing with an attached ramp
@@jimrichter3487 4x4 post are not up to code from what I was told. Gotta use 6x6 now in your in Massachusetts
Doubling the end boards on both sides?(Left/Right) Did you do that to picture frame the deck boards?
Hey! I am going to picture frame it but I do that anyway just to add to the structural integrity. Stay tuned!
After one year is the composite deck boards sagging?
Masvidal’s pretty handy.
Great job!! I live in Massachusetts as well will I need to pull a permit for a deck this size?
Hi! I live in Massachusetts and had to pull a permit for the deck. If you call your town's building inspector and they will be able to answer any questions to whether or not you need a permit for your projects. Good luck!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair ok
will I need a inspector to come out to check out the work that has been done?
@@TheFixerHomeRepair I was told 6x6 posts with 12” footings
Awesome رائع جدا
Better than Bob Villa❣️❣️
Building on unrestricted property, looking at a floating platform for a tiny dwelling, what are the drawbacks?
Honestly, If you don't have anyone that has to tell you it's good to go (inspections), I don't think there are many drawbacks. Just build it to what you think is good. If it is a floating platform, the threat of getting hurt from it collapsing is basically gone. If you save money by going down in size for the lumber and skipping a lot of the expensive metal fasteners and it works for what you need, I think it is a win. But I didn't tell you that. 😁👍
They should only require those tensioners in certain circumstances IMO; maybe based on area of the deck and/or height above grade.
I tend to agree with you. As I said in the video, I think they are a bit overkill.
It's shahid errrèee.london .brother I lov ur videos.jus try in to install doorbell.found you n u got hellatings.loviti bet u from USA.i lov it.ur acent.
Been watching all your vids since you started the rebuild of your bathroom. You don't sound like you're from Massachusetts! Are you a transplant? 😄
Vinyl sounds a bit cheap. Have you priced aluminium railings/pickets?
Is there a materials list?
The house may fall but the deck will be standing !!
imho the bottom of the posts should not touch the metal shoes, but better be raised 1 inch, so that water can not touch the wood
Here in South Florida, everything is built with CMUs. So some of your build is not relative here. Not much stick framing. Still like watching your videos. Good job.
0:30 One wonders when a deck is small enough to just call it a balcony or stoop.
👏🏽👏🏽❤
👍🏼👍🏼
You must have gotten a extra loan with these prices 😉
When are we going to see how u made that guy...
I wish you had shown us YOU doing this, rather than just explaining. That's what I came here for. Things are more clear to me when I see someone doing it and explaining it at the same time. Oh, well.
Kinda weird, you always show the building process and how it’s done, not skip to it built and done. Came out nice tho 👍
Jeez, that framing is not going anywhere!
Is treated lumber still on par with gold when it comes to cost?
May b Canada
The through bolt design isn't allowed or correct anywhere 🤷♂️
You would think the building inspector would have said something. 🤷♂️. It is correct and allowed in Massachusetts. 👍
Would you and your wife like to work at my house in Alabama in the dead of winter? No snow 🤣🙏 I already have everything and all materials to go in it. You may stay there so no hotel expenses. I will be next door. 😀 2.5 acres if you have pets bring them😀 1 story house on a slab nothing up high. Doing some cool things. Moving fireplace from exterior wall to 16' wall inside. Removing 2 garage doors putting in 1, 9'x9' door in center and I want it to rise up through the ceiling between the rafters when open. Would like to rewire the house.
Am I right
I was expecting BIGGER!

Yay first!
Hey!!
Dude, you know that meme is dead right?
@@davidwostrel kind of like all the joy in your life... DUDE
Thats a small deck lol i thought you were going to build something way bigger lol
I hate it for u that you had to repeat "this is how I do it" like 6 times because some old guy with too much ego and hair coming out of his ears is going to say "THAT'S NOT HOW YOU DO IT AND HERE'S WHY I'M ALWAYS RIGHT!" Good work though beau.
😂
Is that even big enough to be considered a deck? Lol
Small deck, but its still a deck 😅
Show me how you build it, dont talk like a teacher!
That's what this channel is all about, Art. The entire video is later.
From the ground up. We need the instructions from the beginning.
Im in Mass and want the same exact same thing, do you have the actual plans? Thanks Ken
