Uh oh, @@captain_crunk is going down the rabbit hole, throw a rope before he winds up with 200TB of "ammo" and no targets hit! Lol you know you've been there as well ppl, cmon
Can't recommend Spitfire Audio's free LABS enough... of all the tips and things I've learned from this channel, LABS is the best. I use them all the time.
I love using Valhalla SpaceModulator after Valhalla Vintage Verb to add a very light chorus. Just enough to make the reverb "dance around", if that makes sense. Just enough that you barely notice when you bypass SpaceModulator. Side note: Valhalla Delay (only $50) is AMAZING! It's an incredible sound design tool, and when you modulate its parameters with your DAW, it's buttery smooth as the dials move around. You really get that "tape winding" effect. It doesn't sound like a plug-in. Sean Costello is a DSP wizard!
I'll have to check that specific feature out again, thanks! 15+ years of Reason/Logic (otherwise mostly NI Machine or Ablton for live/drumming if digital) I've stuck w/ self designed or peer recommendations. The "tape jitter" effect, so to speak, can be useful, but when not for an FX perspective it is one of my pet peeves when trying to adjust smoothly while live/recording.
Quality content as always Patrick! Always look forward to your free plug-in videos as I’m a proper skinflint! Totally agree about Valhalla Supermassive - my single go-to reverb effect. Also have a good few Spitfire Labs packs but didn’t realise they had so many new packs. Hope I have enough space left on my MacBook to download more!
The analog obsession Buster compressor is my go-to SSL style compressor (especially when I don't need the whole E-channel) but I especially love the 73-style pre-amps, either for saturation or for gaining of signal with the trim knob
The Valhalla Space Mod has some incredible reverbs onboard and the Supermassive is really all you need for reverb. I just bought the Eventide Blackhole and it does very little by comparison!
I love it all except for pitch correction as us old schoolers consider it cheating and the sound drives me up the wall lol! However there's great ones in there Pat and you did it again helping us so much to get our recordings together, you are still 'da man' Pat Cheers!
Hi from Japan. I'm so glad I came across this video. Thank you for introducing various plugins. I will work hard every day to make good songs. Thank you very much.
Amazing upload , many thanks. But anyone else here find all these choices send us down a rabbit hole that can muddy everything up? If I haver too many choices I get overwhelmed and can sit here for hours getting more and more frustrated. For the most part Garageband itself has almost everything I need. But I always love to watch videos like and and occasionally download one or 2. There was a free plugin called "Wider" I have come to love. Cheers
Ive bought what i felt I needed from the large commercial companies, the ones that work for me.... But there's so many I didn't buy because theres some amazing, say even better in some cases, Freebies. I so agree with not only your choices your sharing, but agree with the whole concept that free plugs, also, give freedom to make music without excuses. I also recommend Full Bucket Music (Mainly Synths but some great Plugs for SFX) and Tokyo Dawn Labs...
Great list!.... The Labs VSTs are my go to instruments. I've got various paid libraries of great pianos and strings, but some how I keep coming back to Labs more often than not. Lots of really unique instruments that are so useful. Valhalla is a benchmark ! There's one company that deserves mentioning....VOS (Variety of Sound), once upon a time known as Bootsy. These are some of the best sounding plugs around period, free or not. The analog centric stuff is a standard got to for me. I highly recommend people check them out! 😉👍

This is driving me up the wall. Whilst I can use my plug ins, I cant get them to open as individual little graphic boxes interfaces. All I get are the lists for each dial/knob . For instance, HaNon B70 , a long list of 'Upper draw bar' 0 to 8 with an up and down box with arrows or slider function....HELP!!

I guess I’m literally trying to figure out the best way to use my IPad to cover songs. The information provided is great but if you understand it, that is. Where is the information for VOCALS?? I have watched a few videos on other ppl and what they do however I can’t seem to match the instrumental to the vocals. I’ve duplicated bc i quickly learned that u can easily erase and have to start all over, I’ve used the metronome to align the beginning etc and it’s a bit off. It’s probably a setting and IDK which way to go with it at this point lol. Anyone know?? Heeeeellllpppp!!
