Altron was basically the Heavy Irons Studios of SpongeBob DS games being a company that usually does licensed games like their Phineas and Ferb game along with the 2nd dimension DS game, but most if not all of their games have been really great.
Their second Phineas and Ferb game, Ride Again, is my favorite from that series, almost on par with Truth or Square DS
Across the Second Dimension was a classic.

they also did the simpsons road rage on gba which was a really impressive game for the hardware

Did anybody play that new DTL game? I tried it our cause it was cheap, thought it was alright but not nearly as good as the originals or spongeBob version
@@ChampionofShadowsAE I was really hyped when was announced, but I started to get worried once gameplay started being shown. Got it on launch day anyway, and absolutely hated it.
I'm still really upset that the first new game in 11 years was basically a barely functional mobile game that was quickly ported to consoles.

One thing I really appreciate as a fan of Spongebob is how Ant really puts so many lines and gags from the show into his retrospectives, it shows that he really did love the original source material.

I'm amazed Drawn To Life: SpongeBob doesn't end with a reveal that the events of the game were a dying dream by a cancer-stricken 5 year old who loves Nickelodeon and the last thing he sees is SpongeBob waving solemnly in a white void. If you think this sounds out of left field and unprompted, I envy you for not knowing the things I do about Drawn To Life.

Yeah the drawn to life ending was dark. Till “two realms” came out. It’s the recent drawn to life game and said JK everyone is A-Ok living in a separate dream world ala kingdom hearts DDD and Wilfre wasted his life. Edit: Except Mikes parents there still dead because it follows up the original ending, but Heather’s face is healed.
Nobody played 2 Realms so as far as I’m concerned the “everyone fucking dies” ending is still the end of the series

Truth or squares music was Little-Me's jam.
What I really liked about Altron's games is the music. Such unforgettable good music and yet so unknown. I especially can't get the "Moon Surface" Music from Drawn to Life out of my head! :)
Altron also developed the GBA version of Simpsons Road Rage!

I KNEW he was gonna hate Creature from the Krusty Krab and The Yellow Avenger. The former I never got that far in as a kid cause of the bad controls. And I rented the latter from Gamefly once and it felt painful.

I grew up playing Truth or Square DS and I still absolutely love it.
Man, I have so many memories of playing Atlantis Squarepantis. It was a really fun game. I played it a lot. When I beat the game for the first time and saw that i could play the game again as Squidward, I was so happy.

@@pixelator5312 Yeah, it's essentially new game plus. But I think you don't get access to Squidward until you get to the middle section of the game (you know, the part of the game that doesn't actually happen in the episode).

Man, Drawn to Life was my FIRST videogame and I remember being blown away when they had a direct sequel to the original game. Played them both back to back several times.

Been watching this Spongebob retrospective journey since the OG BFBB video. And my gosh, I never realized just how many Spongebob games there were...and also how many of them were rough compared to how many good ones there are.
But I guess we have Rehydrated, and now Cosmic Shake, to thank for this! What an amazing series of videos (that were filled with references) these turned out to be!
Can I just say it's amazing that a """"next-gen"""" Spongebob game in 2013 on console (i.e. Plankton's Robotic Repetition) can be ported to the 3DS and be the same exact game with no strings attached? It's baffling.
Just from the fact that the 2010's output of Spongebob games were mediocre at best showcased just how much the series had lost most of its charm.
Spongebob games from the first game during the early 2000's to the late 2000s showcased just how good the licensed tie ins could be even during its first post movie missteps. In spite of the few road bumps along the way

(Future ones on stuff like Cosmic Shake I'll consider bonus episodes) Though If he does videos on the dedicated Nicktoons games I wonder how long he'll be able to play the last one Globs Of Doom (Which had SpongeBob in the title cause like most of the other shows had ended by then) before running into the save data corruption problem Dafawfulizer mentioned.

I've owned Atlantis Squarepantis and Krusty Cook-Off since I was a kid and loved them and I can say that Atlantis Squarepantis is probably the only spongebob game that is better than it's console counterpart 🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact! Not sure if any other versions had this but the Psp version of Truth or Square actually had 3 minigames you could play in the main menu. The first was a bumper cart style game where you drive around trying to catch jellyfish and the person with the most at the end wins. The 2nd was literally just straight up hockey, and as someone who is literally a stick figure and doesn't give a shit about sports, it was actually super damn fun. The 3rd game though, was literally a Worms styled game but with Spongebob characters. I remember spending hours playing that minigame and it was so damn fun.
Why couldn't those be in the console version? They sound like potential for good multi-player fun.
Playing as Plankton and air striking the shit out of Spongebob was my favorite part of the whole game. I wish they brought this back somehow in a modern game.

Holy crap, I got the Big One Cook Off for my seventh Birthday alongside my DS. It was one of the first video game I ever played, so the weird blocky graphics are insanely nostalgic to me.
I remember getting it out of the Walmart bargain bin at one point and being so happy to have found SpongeBob in the mix. I like cooking mama so (maybe it's rose coloured glasses) I thought it was a good game.

You know, it's kinda hard to believe that the DS is weak in 3d platforming, after some pretty good ones you went through. Crash of the Titans DS, TLoS Eternal Night DS, and now Spongebob Atlantis Squarepantis DS and Truth or Square DS.
Then again even Nintendo couldn't get it right since they ported Mario 64 one handheld to early.
You should definitely talk about Drawn to Life at some point! I loved those games back when I was a teenager!

Drawn to Life: Spongebob Squarepants Edition was my first ever DS game, I played that one constantly when I was younger.
As truth or square on the DS was the first DS game I ever received when I was little, I still hold it close to my heart to this day

And so, with another video under his belt, Antdude completed the SpongeBob series with the exception of the worst SpongeBob Kinect game and the other Xbox game. However, little did he know, his fans would expect him to return to play the Nicktoon series of games as well as Nickelodeon's All Star Brawl.
so heres a nifty little bit of trivia, later prints of Drawn To Life 2 changed the ending credits cuz it was so damn saddening.....i never knew this till years later since i had the original version....and that ending has lived in my brain rent free for over a decade
I should play Atlantis SquarePantis DS again, it was literally my first game ever, and I haven't played it since.

Creature From The Krusty Krab was also on PC as a game called "Nighty Nightmare". It did not exactly follow the same notes as the former, if I recall, but most levels were shared, except in NN, you play from a top-down perspective.
If you feel up for it, why not give some of the Downloadable PC games a try? Things like Krabby Quest, Operation Krabby Patty, Battle For Bikini Bottom (this one is not what you think it is.), Truth or Square (also not what you think it is), etc...

I’m so glad Ant covered my childhood game of Spongebob Drawn To Life. A game I never completed or got far into but the amount of time I drew characters and drew stuff was a blast
After all these years, I finally have all three videos of miscellaneous spongebob games
While there was (probably) no spongebob DS covers or anything like that, the Yellow Avenger game came in a pack with a blue lanyard and a charging cable with two different heads (One fits the DS, one fits the 3DS oddly enough) with spongebob's eyes painted on them....and also an eye on the part you plug the cable into, as well making it look like spongebob's got a 3rd eye we don't know or want to know about. I know this, because I had it and still use the charging cable to this day because it's trusty and can suffer a *lot* of abuse aparently.
Genuinely enjoyed this video. Watched it twice in one day. Good on you, Ant.

This series of videos indeed proves that the idea of adapting one media to another isn't really all that bad of an idea, but is unfortunately seen that way due to its long-term controversial reputation due to there being more blemishes compared to successes. But luckily as people we learn, adapt, and evolve from past mistakes and experiences to be better. And that seems to be a true case with the Spongebob Francise as with not only "Battle for Bikini Bottom", but also the next big console videogame coming out soon as of typing.

I'm actually so curious to check out the 3 games you rated the highest. I've always loved the idea of 3d platformers on the ds but I've never played anything outside of Mario 64 DS which I didn't care for because the original is just better, but yeah!

If ya wanna know why remember what's happened to Sonic over the past few years and listen to the actual song. You'll probably understand where I'm coming from at the end of the experience.

The nostalgia I have for the DS is borderline unhealthy.
It’s like my nostalgia for the GBA (which is pretty much the handheld version of another one of my favourite consoles by the same controversial company), SNES.
@@kieranstark7213 grew up on that aswell thanks to backwards compatibility on the DS lite.
Because the Switch is both a handheld and home console, I think that’s why we didn’t get the 4DS (another sequel to the 3DS)… yet.
