IIRC, Revenge of the Flying Dutchman's devs could never get the game to load levels properly, so they resorted to restarting the software while keeping the current memory in RAM for transitions between levels. In other words, every time you enter a new area your game restarts. I guess what happened with the treedome is that for some reason the reboot unintentionally cleared the RAM.

The game like I thought sounds pretty alright just misunderstood and Anthony definitely was being too hard on it. Now I am still happy that I am going to add it to my GameCube collection later.
I feel bad for Big Sky Interactive though that they only got to make these two games before they had to fill for bankruptcy😞
@@soraandkairi1194 I don't know, man. Having watched the video that was linked it sounds like, while not quite as bad as people say, it's still not good. It may have a redeeming quality or two, but is heavily outweighed by the myriad of shortcomings.
So no, it's not really "misunderstood". Antdude was saved honestly. If he wasn't forced to stop where he did, then he'd be even harsher on it, and for good reason. Who the hell thought that collecting so many damn jellyfish was a good idea.
The story behind Big Sky going under was fucked, I have to say. Though that doesn't make the game any better. It's nice to know that they seemed to care about the game they were making, at least a little, but catching those jellyfish still won't be fun in the slightest. The little charm that it seems to have is it's only real appeal to me.
Basically, Antdude seemed on point. You need a high level of tolerance for that kind of thing to really enjoy it, which varies between person. Just that given how many games, or well anything else, you can do rather than play a game with far more cons than pros... Not to say it's wrong to like it, just that it makes perfect sense why few would.
Look at the Zelda CD-i games, for example. I actually found people in the wild who genuinely enjoy the first two games (at least seemingly). And while the remasters, that some saint made just recently, actually gives them some modicum of enjoyment, it takes a certain type of person to like the originals [unironically]. Not a bad person, I need to clarify, but very particular tastes that most wouldn't agree with, again, for good reason.
And sorry for typing so much, but that's just how it be, I guess.

We all have different tastes and certainly there are things we can each enjoy for a longer period of time than others.
Also no I don’t believe this game would be that good but I do think it would be better than the Jimmy Neutron game that came out before it which isn’t that good.

Oh yeah I haven’t obviously played any of the Zelda CDI-Games but they definitely don’t sound good at all besides having unique designs for the worlds and characters and very entertaining cheesy dialogue which probably wasn’t intended.
Hotel Mario sounds way better but still not amazing.

Fun fact: In Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, there is an alternate end to the race with Squidward if you let Squidward reach the Krusty Krab before Spongebob.

Lights Camera Pants has a lot of charm. I adore the cutscenes, and still quote "I'm sorry, I was thinking about cabbage. You were saying?" to this day! One of the coolest parts is that there are 6 versions of each cutscene, to accommodate whoever got the "role"

Spongebob Squarepants Plankton's Robotic Revenge was the bruh moment of Spongebob games and Spongebob Heropants was the oh god burn it with fire of Spongebob games.
I liked PRR on 3DS.
I hated HeroPants on Vita, however.
Also seeing PRR in HD on the Wii U is pretty cool, might pick that up soon.

What!? A perfect circle?
I really hope you played to the end of lights camera pants, they play the whole Mermaidman movie and the cutscenes are now in order, so they make way more sense, and there’s tons of new cutscenes thrown in at the end. It ends up being like a 20+ minute cutscene, essentially an entire Spongebob special. I definitely recommend finishing it just to see the final movie.

I love how you can mix and match certain characters to make the movie funnier. Policeman Patrick gives me life.
26:26 the cutscene actually does change a little depending on if Squidward beats you or not. Spongebob has a whole line about him making up excuses as to why is was late. I think the cutscene was meant to take place after Spongebob or Squidward waits for the other to arrive. If you let Squidward win he even says something along the lines of “see Mr Krabs I told you he’d show up eventually”.
I hope that when WayForward makes a sixth Shantae game, we get to see the return of SpongeBob Squigglepants

Lights, Camera, Pants. Yes. It was the best spongebob game I've played personally. I love this game so much and I just cannot get enough of it.
Atlantis squarepantis was my favorite game as a kid. It introduced me to so many things in gaming. It was slow enough for me to learn it and long enough to not make me bored.
Dancing GBC Spongebob is the holiest thing to bless my eyes in 2020.

the entirety of its development resources were “leaked” online a few years ago, and digging through them provides you with a ton of elements never used ingame, raw assets from the show straight from nickelodeon (including the uncompressed theme song AND its instrumental), and even some evidence of the staff being dissatisfied during production and why the game ended up so weird and messy
I remember playing Battle for Bikini Bottom first as a kid, even though Revenge of the Flying Dutchman came out earlier. I loved BFBB and remember seeing Revenge at the video rental place and thinking, well maybe it'll be just as good.

The company that made BFBB and The Movie Game made an amazing Scooby Doo game. It's called Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights which is probably up there with Battle For Bikini Bottom in my opinion. Its a 3D platformer that features a somewhat Metroidvania type progression. I definitely recommend playing it if you somehow see this because it's a gem.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves that game. I played it so much back on the gamecube and absolutely loved it. Probably one of my fav and most played titles on that console when I was a kid. Honestly might have even started my love for metroidvanias.

I was really curious about Plankton's Robotic Revenge because I remember seeing it being advertised a lot.
I even remember asking it for Christmas but I got Mario 3D World instead.
I think it was a good thing I avoided the game.

I actually really enjoyed the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie for PC. It's a point and click adventure game similar to the PSA missions from Club Penguin.

I kinda can. It's an indie game called Spookware. I call it Spoopware, personally. It's a collection of ten randomly selected minigames all having some sort of horror theming to them. And while they aren't quite scary, it has its charm in the presentation by having some zany halloween music and a dark tone to it. Imagine Ashley's levels from Warioware only with a grittier tone. A minimalist version of Slenderman where you look around and find three pages. A game where you go Leatherface on a severed leg. A panic inducing segment where you gotta start up the car and floor it. A relatable moment where you knock at an inactive flashlight to get it to turn on. I love the concept, but my only issue with it is that once you've played the ten, you're left wanting more. I would love a full Warioware style game in that format. Oh, and the makers of Spoopware? None other than Adam Pype, responsible for No Players Online. First a cursed CTF map and now a fast paced minigame game. Talk about nostalgic.

We can tell that's from the various prototype ROMs of the game that have been found, that the developers didn't really seem to care about SpongeBob supersponge all too much. They also wanted it to play a lot like Yoshi's Island. They even created an entire analysis of the game for reference material. And had ROMs of SNES games, they even created p*** art!

Man, revenge of the Flying Dutchman on PS2 was so glitchy, every time you used to go into a loading screen, it might crash the whole game - one of the few games I ever bothered to get a refund for
You did NOT just say "I call it Bold & Brash" only to immediately cut to a micro-game of putting something in the trash... Absolutely brilliant, and you're not getting away without credit for that.
I actually remember really loving Atlantis Squarepantis on the Wii, for some reason...probably because of the tank parts.
I love Atlantis Squarepantis, but the tank levels are actually my least favorite of the bunch. My favorite was always the top-down teamwork levels.
@@GatorOne-in7hksame here for the top down ones. And I think the button pressing mini games went a long way to helping me hone my reflexes, hand-to-eye coordination, and timing.

The DS version of Atlantis Squarepantis is a totally different game, and it's actually pretty good.
Yea, the GBA version too. It's kinda like a sidescroller version of the DS one.
I remember playing Atlantis Squarepantis DS before, and having a pretty good time with it. Weird how Squidward had to be unlocked by beating the game once.

With the first PS2 game, there is a great problem: It had the Twinsanity problem (The developers had serious problems ehile making the game, I believe they even have problems receiving their payment checks for this game). So yeah, it actually is a great game for what they could do.

Edit: I would also like to point out the game has Spongebob characters on land (who can tackle the players while running to bases), and Toph is also in this game and is somehow playing baseball despite being blind. (Yeah yeah, sense powers I know, but that doesn't make it any less silly).

There is a PC Spongebob game under the name "Nighty Nightmare", re-released later as a PC version of Creature from the Krusty Krab, it follows multiple different genres across Spongebob's, Patrick's, and Plankton's dreams. Sort of like the console Creature from the Krusty Krabs, but a completely different game with different genres to fit alongside what you expect from a PC Spongebob game. The Spongebob dream in the alien jellyfish spaceship actually terrified me when I was younger, its a stealth level where you avoid creepy alien jellyfish that abducted you at the start of the level while very ominous music plays. Its a very interesting game so I reccomend checking it out even if just through a RUclips video!
Spongebob's Boating Bash on the Wii brings back so many childhood memories... I loved that game.
I'd love to see a coverage of the Rayman timeline. Maybe even just the beginning in 2D and then transitioning to the second major adventure, that time in 3D (The Great escape) with all its different versions from N64, GC, PlayStation, PC and Dreamcast, the reboot and enhancement (Rayman Revolution) and then just a quick scratch on the surface of the ports to DS and the quite okay 3DS remake.
The whole 3rd Gen around the Hoodlums with its GBA, PC and so on titles is then enough for a whole new video until it drifted of to a sad, Rabbit future that did have some very fun games, but was dooming the franchise u til it emerged with Origins again and peaked in Rayman Legends for now, leaving old fans still hoping for a official 4th gen game in succession of the second story told (The Great escape / Revolution).
Also glad to see Rayman 2 HD being developed as a fan project.

It's like Spongebob at it's core: The classic seasons 1-3, the solid movie, and mostly junk.
Some of the seasons after the first movie are good.
I love Lights, Camera, Pants. I loved the simple story that you could play over and over again so that you can see all the characters in the different acting roles, for example, the police officer who has to chase down Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, all the characters except Sandy get tired and can't keep up until the end, but Sandy is the fitness queen and speeds past all the cars to catch up, it's great. And even though there were only 30 mini games, they were all fun.
i never heard of this spongebob udraw game and i cant believe that i never realized how good a spongebob warioware game could be.
I am both ashamed and proud to say that I managed to beat Supersponge back in the day. I mastered those sloppy floaty controls to the T.

There's one game you missed, it's the PC version of Lights Camera Pants that is totally different from the other versions. It's still another point & click game with some minigames but what I like about it is that your objective is to find little things around the world and recruiting almost every characters to put in your movie that you can fully customize with what you found, it can be a really serious or totally goofy version of the same movie!
I’ve played the demo of Operation Krabby Patty my whole childhood.
It was one of my favorite games because I loved Spongebob.
I only had B4BB on my PC as a kid growing up, so I was pretty confused when I heard people on the internet talking about it as one of the greatest licensed games of all time, cuz I only knew it as the subpar minigame collection. Hearing it get mentioned in this video awoke memories I didn't even know I had

I think that PC version of Battle for Bikini Bottom is the first time I've ever heard Speakonia voices in a licensed PC game.
Good on the devs _(or possibly whoever was responsible for the voice acting)_ for choosing to use a freeware voice program you can still very easily download today.
Wonder if Antdude will look at the Jimmy Neutron games in the future.

Man, I remember playing Planktons robotic revenge on my 3ds when I was much younger and I loved it. I remember getting stuck at a few parts. Years later, I didn’t really care about the game, so I sold it at GameStop. I kinda wanna go back to it one day.

Lights camera pants is the game me and my brother played the most. Seeing your character take every role in the final movie was hilarious.
One game I have fond memories of is the PC exclusive Atlantis Squarepantis Square Off.
Believe it or not, it was a turn based, tactics collectable card game. Yes, really.
And it was REALLY fun
