    The bearing is ready to receive the trani input shaft? That looks really sloppy.....is it truly engaged into the clutch when you mate the trani to bell housing? I am about to remove my TKO500 because of a leak from the aft mating seal and am wanting to make sure I don't run into any surprises. Is there any more info you could pass about that bearing? Thank you

    what changes when using a aftermarket bell housing like lakewood or quicktime sfi spec? Also how do you bleed the slave cylinder? What spline and length input shaft is on that transmission?

    • @SilverSportTransmissions
      @SilverSportTransmissions  6 лет назад

      You should call and talk to our technical sales department to inquire about any specific bellhousing, but the TKO will work with Lakewood and Quicktime brand bell housings. The TREMEC TKO for GM has a 26 spline input shaft and the input shaft is around 6.5" long. To bleed, you can read detailed instructions here on page 14: shiftsst.com/media/wysiwyg/pdfs/2017June/MAG-00402_GM_Hydraulic_Manual_RevF.pdf

    WHAT ABOUT THE BOLT ON THE RELEASE BEARING? you never bolted it up? how can you even get to it once the trans is in place? did you just leave it flopping around?

      There is a stud (seen at 4:34) on the transmission. As the transmission is installed, the hydraulic bearing aligned with that stud. The stud prevents it from rotating and this kind of bearing is under constant pressure from the clutch, so the fingers press it against the transmission while the stud prevents rotation. There's also a circular indentation which the bearing sits in. Once everything is lined up, it can't go anywhere, so there's no need to bolt it. You can learn more about installing our hydraulic kit in a GM application here: shiftsst.com/media/wysiwyg/pdfs/July2016Instructions/MAG-00402_GM_Hydraulic_Manual_RevE.pdf

      FOR REAL, I saw that too.....

      But just a stud? I have worked rebuilding clutches, turning flywheels and pressure plates and then putting it all back into the cars and all due respect but there's a reason it has bolt holes in to the slave/throw-out bearing.....

    Is there a way to convert a 1980 Buick Regal to manual transmission ? The shop I took it to said they couldn’t do it & that if I did find a shop who could that it would be too much fabrication needed to be done . Ls swap with t56 6speed trans is what I paid them to install

      Absolutely, we have a kit with complete instructions (shiftsst.com/articles/cat/general-motors/post/g-body-1978-1988/) that takes out all the guess work to change to a TREMEC Magnum (this isn't he same thing as an OEM T56, which we do not have a kit for). Any body shop should be able to do this conversion, but we have many conversion shops around the world who will be happy to convert your car! shiftsst.com/articles/cat/authorized-resellers-and-installation-centers/

    You guys should make a kit for the 2005-2010 R/T and SRT chargers. If you guys dont, I can supply you with a candidate car.

    About how long did the install take?

    • @SilverSportTransmissions
      @SilverSportTransmissions  7 лет назад

      Since we're developing the kit, fabricating parts, and also documenting each step with photos and notes in order to make the installation manual, we don't really get a good idea of how long an installation will take. We also only do the one car and move on to the next R&D project. If we were to make an estimation on installation times, we'd have to have several people install our kit and time it to get an average. Plus, our customers have a wide range of mechanical skills. Because of these reasons, we don't really have an answer to this question.

    For ease I would've left the bellhousing bolted to the trans and installed it all together

      @SilverSportTransmissions  6 лет назад +1

      We will do installations that way sometimes, but there are times when the tunnel is just too tight to do it that way.
