Values are the things we want to stand for the most.
So why are they both so important-and how can identifying your core values help you with goal setting and knowing how to achieve your goals?
Triple board certified neuropsychologist, Dr. Judy Ho walks through 4 simple therapy techniques to actually reach your goals (according to psychology) with MedCircle host Kyle Kittleson.
    00:00 Intro

    01:02 ACT Basics
01:39 Step 1: How to cultivate purpose and motivation
04:52 Step 2: How to change your perspective on negative thoughts and emotions
06:12 Step 3: Values Card Sort
10:41 Step 4: How to avoid "Decision Paralysis"
12:58 How values help combat depression and anxiety
Values contribute to the process of personal growth and productivity. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) offers simple mental health techniques to help you on your path of self improvement and personal development.

The meaning of pain in your life depends how you process (and manage) it. We have a lot of negative pre dispositions inherited through genes or developed from past experiences we didn't process and manage correctly which causes a negative bias to be rooted into your sub and non conscious mind. We can rewire our thoughts for a positive and healthy bias so when the pain comes (it always will), we can easily and quickly process it and manage it correctly.

Me debo querer primero a mi y be truthful to my soul

Can you speak on agoraphobia brought about only secondary to BDD -Body dysmorphic disorder, which both came into existence by an abusive childhood? It does sound
very complicated and yet like dominos, each issue produced another issue. I would appreciate a more current perspective about these disorders, how they could all co-exist and relate to one another snd any advise on a way forward. Thank you!

Here's one problem with this approach: there are people, who are depressed because they have such strong values, that they can't live up to them. Trying to be moral all the time, always honest, fair, etc. is a way to make sure you'll always fall short and your inner critic always gets a chance to take you apart. At least that was my problem... I had to learn in therapy that it's okay to not always live up to your values and to be more patient with myself.

    • @talltreeyeti
      @talltreeyeti 2 года назад +2

that sounds like the issue is a big ego

Thats why they’re values too and not a goal. You can’t archive being kind one time and then it’s done or then you’re kind forever. Values to me are something you strive for everyday and they are a constant challenge that make life worth living. If we all were perfect and didnt have problems to solve life would be empty

    • @janedoe3648

That does not mean you throw your values out the window though. That's not what she's talking abour

I just got my BS in Christian counseling and am now in my masters in clinical mental health counseling, but I still really do want to eventually had Christianity into my future therapy. Also interested in EMDR as it truly changed my life dealing with combat related complex ptsd

When I watch american psychologists talking or giving a speech, it's all the same. They always seem to spread a notion of self acceptance, the pursue of happiness no matter what and to adjust to shallow values as a way to succed. The clinical results seem to fit the American Dream
