    I have been buying 50 and 150cc Chinese specials to ride and play with, I have got scooters just like yours where they didnt start, Im new at troubleshooting but all the way through the video I was spot on, troubleshooting exactly what you did until you pulled the engine apart and fixed the valve, so I learned much more from this video, thanks for the logical tutorial and keep it up

    • @scootersonlyrepair6773
      @scootersonlyrepair6773 2 года назад

      I never understood why people "fix" these engines. I.e. if you bent the valves you'd get a new one and install it in the old head. The a complete head for gy6 is $18 and to fix the old one is going to take at least an hour. So unless you're paying your mechanics $9 an hour it's cheaper to just replace the whole head

    49cc Gy6 engines always come with the valves too tight I had to do valve adjustments to 50 atm50 scooters in 2 days straight out of the crate. We would sell them without touching the engine besides adding oil. Customers would return about 50 miles later with no start scooters. 😒 after rebuilding and replacement of 6 carbs I decided to try the valves and alas too tight. Adjustments made it fired right away. I never assembled any out of the crate without adjusting the valves first.

    Two summers ago a friend of mine brought one of these to me to see if I could make it go faster. I put a 150cc cylinder and piston and did some other upgrades. The thing is now fast as hell. The only problem is the battery does not seem strong enough to turn over the engine now.

    5:40 It have CVK carb. Is not enough open when throttle is turned open. Its slide is in the lower position.
    6:30 Sometimes carbon from piston stuck in to valve seat. Medicine for that is rotating engine untill pressure come back. That one had lot of it.
    When engine does not start, take carb off if it have blue-white sparks. Put petrol directly in the intake manifold. If run, do something to carb.

You’ll undoubtedly either want to put a 50mm big bore kit on it or weld up some brackets and put on a 150cc. The Achillies heel of these bikes is the harness, upgrade at least gauge of ground wire, and it will be a lit more reliable. Have fun!

      Well you got it going ... Trust me about the air filter them bikes love their stock setup. It helps with the gas flow by adding pressure. Makes a big difference. Right now that bike is getting too much air. Few other notes ... That is the org IceBear, gages suck, tire is a bit too wide for turns and over all parts are hard to get ... But it is the original and looks great. The valve adjustment is always a must with these right out of the factory.

      These scooter use a pulse pump, it's not electric. I pulls a vacuum off the intake that sucks gas from the tank to the carb. You have to crank the motor to allow fuel to flow.
