I just ordered the same one from your link! Wish I had this a few hours ago when I was making Mulberry juice by hand for jelly. Glad I watched this video, thank you.
For those interested.... 3 - 4 lbs of berries are required for each gallon of wine you wish to make. Weigh the berries, extract the juice, note volume, and make up the difference with water (filtered and/or distilled), take SG (apecific gravity) reading, add sugar, pitch yeast, wait, rack, and bottle. Advisement...., mulberry is LOW in tannin (tanic acid) so resultant wine will be "flabby". Beef it up with tannin from a brew supply store or add elderberry juice/extract. Might add that leftover pulp can be used for pancake or waffles. Another way to add medicinal benefit to already lacking diets.
I'm so glad you posted this video. A steam juicer has been on my watch list as something I'm thinking about adding to our tools. Thank you for posting!
I agree feed the chickens. I love my juicer great investment. I took a wire coat hanger made an extension for the juice tube hanger . The hook of the coat hanger hangs on pot handle and I angled the wire so hose is away from pot . It saves it from dripping on floor.
Thank you for this informative video. I have a new juicer that I got at a steal ($10.00) from a thrift store but I have never used it, just knew to get it. LOL Maybe now I'll put it to use! I just found your website last week and really enjoy watching and learning from you.
I just received my steam juicer in the mail and am formulating a plan. Been looking at them for years and finally threw down the cash to buy it. These videos have me all kinds of excited!
@@pamveeee sadly, I started Grad school just a couple weeks after posting this comment and all juicing dreams were temporarily laid aside. I haven't even had a chance to test it out yet.
These tools are well within the average household budget. I love mine. I like the comment from the lady saying she made an extension to hang the hose with. Heads up about the steam that comes out of the hose - you can quickly and easily get a second degree burn with it so be careful and watch where you’re pointing that hose!
Love the cranberry juice we get from our steamer. 10 pounds yielded 4 qts. Of concentrated juice. I sweetened the pulp with Allulose and have little cranberry bite treats in my freeze dryer currently.
I use my Victorio steamer/juicer for a lot of cherry juice. I will have some of my cherries pitted, I will steamer these for juice, then I take the pulp and make Cherry jam out of it. I have been juicing concords for years. Then you can make jelly later in the year. I miss Dan!!
Thanks so much for that lesson ! I have a steam juicer but haven't used it yet. Now I know how. You make things easy and don't get all technical like some do. Love all your videos. You're my go to for all things canning. Thanks again !
That seems so smart to even get juice even from the cores. Definitely need to get one. The leftovers would be good to either composed or feed chickens or pigs.
I love mine for making Concord grape juice, so yummy! I’m not sure I would leave the berries in that long, I think the steam waters the juice down too much. But maybe that’s just me. I usually use mine for cooking the apples when I can applesauce, then I run them through my Victorio strainer. Pretty easy! I have a huge mulberry tree, but I’m not fond of the taste, so I give them to my daughter, who freezes them for her little one. Good for you for using your time well and cleaning out your freezer! I have gallons of blackberries In my freezer I could do this with.
I am definitely considering going to an orchard for apples to make my own juice for jelly. This hasn't made into my plan yet, but by this time next year it may very well be in the plan. 🤣
I love my steam juicer. My neighbor bought it for me years ago and I had no idea about them then. I don't know what I would do without it now. I HATE seeds too. Feed it to your chickens or compost it.
Hey Rachel~ I have a ton of grapes for juicing almost ready to harvest. I am almost a click away from ordering one using your link, I see you have an alternate one suggested too. Either way, can you give me any pros or cons now that you have used this one? Thank you so very much!! I have learned SO MUCH FROM YOU!! I want to give you credit using your link but wanted to double check last minute if you have any other tips before I order :)
I more than understand about the seeds in the teeth. I love raspberry’s but don’t eat them because of that reason. I just bought one of the steam juicers so watching every video I can find about it. Going to try pineapples tomorrow.
I have never had a mulberry with seeds, only a stem in the middle. We grew up eating these straight from the tree in our yard. …..now blackberry seeds are horrible for me..Thanks for the video..
Thankyou so much! I am ordering a juicer and was looking to see how they work. And found your video and glad I did! We are not able to get orange juice in our area at this time but can get oranges. Have you done citrus fruits with your juicer? Thank you!
If sterilizing is important would it not make more sense to start with some water and through it out rather than cleaning it out with juice and then putting contaminated juice back it to your steamer Just Sayin
@@1870s Sorry to be a pain but a newbie (obviously) where will I find how long to pressure can it? Or do you mean the steam juicer is a form of pressure canner. Will it be in the ball recipe book? I know you are REALLY REALLY busy so I apologise again for needing you to hold my hand ;)
Planning on making applesauce and apple butter. I wanted to make Apple Jelly out of the cores/peels. Can I use this for extracting juice from leftovers or does it need full apples or sliced apples?
That was awesome lady, just wondered how the steamer juicer worked...thank you

I've made apple scrap jelly with my cores and peels, amazing how much juice is still in there
Try to make bonebroth in the juicer ! It's just perfect!

@@1870s Did you try making green tomato ketchup?
No I haven't
Very Nice 😊
Have you ever used for tomatoes and use pulp for tomatoes sauces or paste. Then can juice for soups or to drink?
The first liter is supposed to be filled back into the steamer. For sterilization and because of the concentration.
Yes we do this step, very important
I fed mine to the chickens too.
Yum

I don't need to strain with this process
How long will the juice stay in the jars without fermenting?
It's pressure canned so years

This would be prefect to extract the juice out of all those scraps & cores.

Can it do tomatoes?
It can!
