***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

This was the first video I've watched here and what a joy. We are actually cranberry farmers and I can honestly say I've never heard anyone who's not a cranberry farmer talk about cranberries as thoroughly and with as much love as you did here. I make my own juice, too and you're right the color and flavor is phenomenal. Thank you so much for supporting the cranberry industry.

Sarah, I appreciate you and Kevin and the girls more than words can say, but I wanted to try and say how in just a few ways. I grew up on a homestead for a few years and my mother and grandmother both grew up their whole lives on homesteads, so they taught me a lot. Both of them have passed, but you have, unknowingly, picked up the mantel. I am physically disabled, so haven't been doing a lot of the things I used to, but you have inspired me to do some things and to start a small garden again. You've made a difference in my life and I thank you

Sarah, I saw someone use a wooden TV tray, they turned it upside down and used hair ties to hold the four corners to the legs, set a large pot under the cloth and pour in the stuff to drain. I have been using this method since then and I set it on my table and let it drain all night. Works like a charm, I use it for jelly or grape juice.

Now I loved this video and idea! Super great idea and HUGE money savings!!! One thing I do to save even more money and time in instaces like this when taking things from the freezer to either cook for a meal or can like this is I take them out of the freezer usually the night before so they have time to naturally get to room temperature then start the cooking process. Doing that saves me time cooking them on the stove and money spent on gas. Also another way to easier ladle things into my jars I use a glass measuring cup with a handle so in one motion I can see that I have enough amount in the measuring cup and there is a pour spout on the cup. Well Sara I am going to make sure I check out the freezer section of the grocery store this weekend to do this! Such a great idea that I have never thought of nor did I even know how to do! Thanks!!!

Another thing to use for UTI or getting sick in general is eating fermented foods such as homemade sauerkraut (fresh not canned). The probiotics in them naturally boost your immune system and within minutes I can feel a difference. If you take a couple of spoonfuls every hour or every few hours you will notice a big difference. If you only have pickle juice you can do the same with that and it also works well. Hopefully this gives you another possibility to help you feel better.

This is a brilliant idea Sarah. We’re not fans of plain cranberry juice (unless there’s someone with a UTI/kidney/bladder issue) but love mixing it with other juices. I will definitely be doing this. So much easier and better for you. You rock my sister from another Mr!! Hehehe Whoop whoop 🙌🏼!!!!! Love, hugs and blessings always ~Lisa

Are you going to also make a video about the cranberry pulp that you're going to use up in the next couple days? I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I don't do so much but I use the pulp in bakery items and in pork sauces, after freezing. Do that for apples and citruses also.

I love cranberries and like you I grab every bag I can get my hands on. I use them in my baking, making cranberry sauce, and mixing with other fruit to make juice. Love your old fashioned ways of doing things took me back to my mama's.

Sarah, you are amazing! How lucky for us that you share your talents and in such a simple way! Because of recently being diagnosed with some health issues I have changed my diet to as all natural as possible and have cut as much sugar from my diet as possible. I have stayed away from store juices because of the sugar, so this is perfect! I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share this process.... it will bless my life. Thank you, sweet lady 😊

Even when you add in the cost of the lid, it’s still cheaper than a sale, and we all know homemade tastes so much better! Can’t wait to see what you do with that pulp! Preserves maybe? I keep hoping I will come along some on sale, but so far no luck.

It's that way here too. Even old bannanas on sale are hard to find. Then suddenly we find a whole bag of mangos for .99 cents that's ripe and I put them through the food processor. Freeze in thin layers and fresh fruit sherbet. Great alone or a chunk on my yogurt.

Wow! What a great idea! I have always dehydrated my end of the season clearance cranberries. I never even thought about juicing them. I didn't get any this year...someone must have bought them all before I got there. I do the same thing if I get there in time. lolol Next year I'll do the juice if someone doesn't beat me to the berries. Much Love

We love cranberry juice so we will make some concentrate. We like it mixed with other fruit juice as well.

I think I would have let them cook in a slow cooker overnight (so you don't have to stand there) and then once cooled put them through a blender to make more juice. I think it would be easier to strain that way too. Love the idea though! I think I will be looking for cranberries on sale now :)

Great find! Believe it or not, but I found that one of the best strainers is a 2 part honey strainer. The bottom strainer is really fine. Makes the first strain go much faster. Then you can strain through cloth if you want it clearer. I use it for broth too. I may have to get another one for my honey. LOL

@Lucille Carpenter - I replied to someone else the other night, saying that all the other stores in the area were out except the local Ingles ($1.49 bag) and I was going to go in the morning. Well, I got there and found 16 bags and they had marked them down to 99c each too! I bought all of them. So now I have about 46 bags in the freezer. I use them in my juicing, so if I use half a bag per week, they'll last me the entire year. : )
