I'd say airing down ahead of time was the number one thing you could have done differently for that trip, but I'd also say having front and rear lockers was the number one piece of missing equipment, for sure. I've used both of mine on many occasions. They are game changers, no question about it.
Great episode. I *hate* warm slushy rotten snow. It does not behave like normal cold snow. It is my least favorite thing to encounter on the trail and I've turned back many many times hitting that slop. Nice work just assessing the situation and calmly getting yourselves out. Looking forward to recovery #2!
@@brauliogarcia9877 it's about putting the most pressure on the road. In Minnesota the ground is frozen or ice and you can't power through. It's best to take it easy and catch some traction.
depends on whats underneath, if its soft mud you dont wanna dig down but if theres a road under you or the ground is frozen it helps to have the tires aired up more
@@brauliogarcia9877 here in Canada where we run studded tires in the winter. We run normal pressure when weather is clear. The air down about ten psi less so the studs grab because the tires studs are placed to the outside edge 3 rows of lugs. The idea of higher air pressure????? He's been mislead. I work in forestry In northern Ontario Canada and even while hauling over 100 000lbs on my trailer with a gross weight of 70 000kg. We use systems that air down our drive tires and use tire chains when its warm snow -10c and warmer snow has more water and very slippery. Colder snow dries out and gives better traction. So in this case we dont really use tire chains much. Four wheeling in a pickup is funn but off rd in a fully loaded logging truck semi is just nutz...
Nice rig. Be nice guys we were all there once. The lack of experience is pretry evident but thats ok. You have to start somewhere. Get excited to build a rig and sometimes put form before function. As stated get some lockers. The rest looks set up nicely.
This flick shows how easy it is to get stuck. If your on a budget and live in Canada, Canadian tire sells a SUPERWINCH LP8500 for 399.99 and it often goes on sale for about half price, I've been running mine for 14 years now trouble free first on my 81f150 on 1 ton axles n 18x39.5x15 superswamper boggers. And now on my 88 bronco on 1 tons and 18x39.5x15 superswamper boggers or 37 inch nittos for overland runs. The next best tool is the highlift Jack. Which can easily be used as a winch. The highlift jack is my #1 recommended tool for anyone going off rd. Its very universal and once you start thinking it can do alot of amazing jobs on the trail.
would you guy's been able to 'Carry On' route if you would of 'Aired down first'? Secondly...Would having a 'Rig' with Rear & Front ARB 'diff locks' HELPED TOO?...just wondering... Safe 'Trails' Boy's!!
“All this awesome gear” and no proper shovel, I guess you don’t need one at the mall. At least you did it without a flashlight. Once again I enjoyed your video but I wouldn’t go on about all this great stuff and no shovel something that most people consider essential. M
Oh c'mon Mike! You have been following long enough to know we show it all! Even the silly little mistakes. It's supposed to make you laugh! But I see you had a change of heart. Haha
lol that guy's trailer looks like its got better tires than his Cross over. Even if he had the tires he defiantly didn't have the lift for the snow. yikes
Great video guys. Very different from our trips through Africa. I really enjoyed your series. #fearlessonfourwheels #adventurepeopleplaces #travelwithdisabities
The biggest danger would be any failure to the rigging (which is all brand new top of the line) and if that were to happen the weight of the recovery bag on the line should stop the shackle from getting close to the vehicle
Do you need to learn to winch in a shitbox or somethin?! Besides he was referring to not using the wireless controller before. It seems you enjoyed the video! So that's nice
We had a bunch of fun getting stuck in the snow, did you enjoy watching the carnage?! What's the number one thing we could've done differently?
Lower the tire pressure until I popped a bead 🤙🤣
Oh ya airing down right away for sure. Oh and lockers would have made a huge difference.
Travel with a friend, another capable rig. These things can go sideways quickly.

@@VideosOffRoad you are 100% right! Airing down first would have helped a ton. And with lockers, we probably could have drove out of this

That 200 is a mean machine !!!
The look on your face in the beginning...you knew you were gonna be digging. Fun times !
Hahahaa isnt that great? Lol
A shovel! dontchaknow!
YeeHaw heck ya! Safe work. I've pulled out with winch 2.5 ton, 5 ton, humvee and cucv out of a swamp that was cab high. Lots of fun
Thanks man, that is always the goal! Nice. Ya recovering heavy rigs is a lot scarier and sketchier!
Yeah I've had to wait till 2 in the morning when it firmed up real good in order to drive out because we got stuck in someone else's hole
Dang! Ya it's crazy how the snow firms up over night. I'm still a snow rookie
If you go snow wheeling and want" to get stuck you are Definately down to mob!!!
Hahaha right? Chris is D2M!
That's what mobbing in the snow in the PNW is all about!! If you don't get stuck you ain't mobbing hard enough.
Here in Minnesota we air up in snow. Air down in mud and sand.
Hey man I’m from Florida. Can you explain the advantage to air up for snow? Thanks.

the ground was a mix of slushie ice and snow. As soon as we aired down, we did not have any problems.
I thought the land cruiser had locking diffs?
Badass! Looking forward to #3!
“Dude do you have it in snow mode or whatever?” Bahaha I died
Hahahaha I had to put that in there. Lmao so funny
Super prepared, except for a shovel. lol.

Thanks for the heads up! ? 🤷♂️
Nice rig. Good fun. Was curious whether you guys tried crawl control to get out?
Same
Beautiful country. 😎
Great to learn from you!
It doesn't seem so catastrophic once you see how the rescue goes down. 😃
P.S. And that kit looked sweet!
👍this made my night.
why are tires not deflated as i can see. It should be as low as 6-10 psi .
ARB letters, but lockers ain't working?

Mike Stansberry doesn’t look like they’re at the mall to me
the maxtrax is the shovel man, chill out
We usually carry a shovel, but forgot it this trip as we had just come directly from cruising Nordstroms.
I thought that maybe Phil talked you into this. Very nice rig far past a mall crawler bad comment by me. M

Should have put the plow attachment on. 😜
when you buy lights before lockers....
HIGHLIFT JACK is the first purchase everyone going off rd should make.
gotta be able to see where you want to get stuck
no diff lockers?
lightbars>lockers
@@Tanner731 you just love this eh? I'm glad man!
@@Down2Mob I love 90% the videos man but I wont not comment about it when i see something silly
What's Chris's RUclips channel?
Good practice in case you ever get stuck in real snow. LOL
Dang this was just imitation snow?! Gets me every time!
Need some tire chains
Super super super lc 200 bravooo
lol that guy's trailer looks like its got better tires than his Cross over. Even if he had the tires he defiantly didn't have the lift for the snow. yikes
Pretty sure airing down does not work in the snow
it always works. 100% of the time lowering your tire pressure will make the tire wider and flatter, giving you more of a traction patch.
🙂
Great video guys. Very different from our trips through Africa. I really enjoyed your series. #fearlessonfourwheels #adventurepeopleplaces #travelwithdisabities
STUCK AGAIN?
Good thing he had a WeBoost and no driving skills.
definite mobbing going on here! cool winch...but isn't the driver still in danger?

👍👍
Drives a 100k set up doesn’t know how winch 😒
that was the first winch with the remote control of the Warn. It was a good learning experience for us on how that system works.

So so bad driver
