One of the best stories I’ve heard is a cop years ago in 4 district had caught a drug deal in progress and charged the dealer. In court the officer was asked by the defence, my client was 100 feet away from you. How far can you see. The officer paused and said about 500 miles. The defence said how do you see 500 miles and the officer said I see the moon every night.
I want to take the time to thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule reaching out to the public. You're a man of integrity and especially a man of truth. You're doing the lords work being a public servant/ peace officer. When we sin god passes judgement and you've been placed here to stop any wrongdoings. You deserve a letter of commendation. Keep up the good work❤
Excellent points were mentioned. As a former traffic court paralegal, I couldn't have said it better myself. I've lost count of how many cases were canceled because the officer started making assumptions... whereas if the officer had been transparent, I wouldn't have stood a chance! This is an excellent video. I think everyone should see this before attending court to give evidence under oath.
YOU said it!!! I say the same thing....I don't lie to anyone; therefore i don't have to remember anything either. ...my memory is good... albeit short...so having one less thing to remember helps...love you and Pappys banter...Good Stuff!!!! Cya in the next one!!
Thank you, I totally agree with what you said, being honest about what you do and doing what you’re supposed to do will never result in you getting into trouble. Looking forward to more videos like these.
You have a good, positive, and honest attitude but we all know not all cops have the attitude you have. That’s what spoils the good that most officers have. A few bad apples.
I’m a clerk in criminal court… last week one of the officer who was testifying for the first time (for an impaired charge) got grilled cause he couldn’t answer simple questions about what does over 80 mean/ why he didn’t read the demand asap and etc… case got dismissed but they all knew it was his first time and he’s been a cop for only 2 years!!! U could see how nervous he was though.
Another informative video Randy! When it comes to going to court for traffic offenses and the defense comes up with questions about radar and red light camera calibration, these aren't questions a regular officer, like you were, can usually answer. It might be wise to have someone in charge of the camera programming testifying in court. What do you think of this Randy? I'm glad to hear that criminal court is easier for officers to testify in court. You have your notes in front of you and if you don't know the answer to a question, being honest is the best policy. It shows integrity. It could be a red herring that the defense is asking to throw you off. Have a great weekend.
Thanks for the comment. The only issue with the first one would be the amount of money it would cost to bring people compared to the price of the ticket. And their time of course. Officers can do that. Thank you, Leigh!
It's vital to tesitfy as needed. Some cops lie on purpose despite them going under oath. That's 14 years for that. Sometimes, it can be life changing or altering. It's basically confession in a mental Iron Maiden.
Lol get this, so i was chosen as witness for police for court so cop tells another cop "he's on our side", other cop says to me "what arr u going to say", i said " I'm just going to tell the truth". Cop tells 1st cop "he's not on our side".
It’s harder to remember a fabricated story than the truth-a wise man told me that when I was a very young child and I still live by it. I would hope a police officer would not fabricate a situation how would you believe him/her in a future case or situation 😮stay safe ❤
Amen to " going to criminal a court instead of traffic court", and Amen to 'when your up on the stand, just tell the truth, be honest, if you remember, say that you don't recall"...all excellent advice one again!! (Be honest now, lol, you took the course to give great advice! 😊😉...wait...WHAT? Did you say you've been a cop 15 yrs ago? PUH-LEASE!
TV shows make it look too easy. Great real life lessons and experiences!

Yes that’s an old one and I also remember it to this day. Told to me by Sgt. Skinner at the Police College back in the day. Thank you Andrew!

Haha no, a cop over 21 years! And believe me, my best advise comes from my past mistakes 😂
I was thinking about being an officer until you said you basically have to sit in court
😭I am not doing that
Waiting game in court!
