Thank you. Placido Domingo is probably the most famous and well known male opera singer in the world. He turned 83yrs. right after this performance. Dimash will be 30 in May 2023. Placido asked Dimash the day before to sing a duet with him and they had one rehearsal. Dimash also wasn't feeling well and had a cough. Incredible performance. Dimash is highly trained and the Astana opera wanted him to join the opera, but he chose to go his own way, which he calls 'neoclassical'. They were both on the panel of judges for the 'Virtuoso' program that promote young talent in song and instruments. Great program! Incredible talent. The song is about 2 long time friends who fall in love with the same woman. They choose to not have their love for the woman interfere with their friendship. They do not pursue her and to keep their friendship until death.

This is a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo and he dreamed of meeting and working with him from that time. I am sure Dimash appreciated the opportunity to support young classical artists at the invitation of Maestro Domingo at the Virtuoso competition. We hope that all of Dimash's dreams come true and we will be there to support him on his journey.
Is Placido famous? Sure but legend is really what he is.
This duet was stunning! The orchestra, the harmonies and maestro Domingo with Dimash, two legends together delighting the audience everywhere!!! Goosebumps … the standing ovation was really moving 🥲 so proud of our beloved Dimash 💙💛🔝🎤🥇👏👏
Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!

Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip. Maestro Placido Domingo was of course 1 of the Three Tenors (with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). Placido Domingo was a part of The Three Tenors:Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras, absolutely huge in the 90’s. Carreras is on his retirement tour, Placido also conducts among many other things that are musical, including this wonderful Virtuoso’s Competition of you classical musicians. So happy that this is introducing not only opera but orchestral music to people who aren't usuelly exposed to it. This is really quite the moment to have maestro Placido Domingo agree to sing with Dimash, who demonstrated a real ability to perform with reserve and respect for the requirements of a duet. It makes me wonder what would have happened if Dimash accepted the offer from the Astana Opera and pursued that career instead. I am happy with the decision he made but hope to hear an occasional aria or two from him, other than this and the hilarious staircase Queen of the Night aria performance.
I liked how their vibratos synced at the end.

Yes, Domingo is a legend, and he invited Dimash to be on this judging panel in this contest for virtuoso children. Dimash says that from the age of five he wanted to one day sing with Domingo.
Placido Domingo is one of the three most famous opera singers of all time - Liciano Pavarotti, Hose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Even if you are not into opera, but as a musician you must have heard the names? 🤔That's just a general knowledge.

Opra snobs should be thankful that Dimash is introducing people who would have never listened to opera, to the operatic. For too long the elite attitude has turned people off, or has intimidated them.

So, one of the most beautiful things that can happen is when a younger artist can perform with one of their inspirations and- in doing so - introducing a whole new generation to the works of the older legend. This is the situation with this performance with Dimash and Maestro Domingo. I’m certain that if the other members of the Three Tenors were still around, they would probably have been happy to perform with Dimash. I’m happy to see younger reactors discovering classic artists. Andrea, nice to see you again, I felt that this one washed over you a bit. And no offence intended. This original Fishers Duet (French Opera) speaks for the aria itself. It is a classical from the 1800's and is always performed as a duet.
Andrea Plácido Domingo it was cosidered the best tenor of all time , from Portugal with Love .

Dimash was invited to be a judge on the program by Maestro Domingo. I know he appreciated the opportunity to support young artists. We are all do proud of him and hope all his dreams come true. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal.

Firstly, Andrea I really enjoy your videos and I believe you have real talent too. Keep it up. May I suggest that in such cases you would do some research beforehand? "I think that the other singer is popular too". Now that it is an understatement! Placido Domingo is one of the greatest tenors that have ever lived and at the age of 83 years he is still a force to be reckoned with. By the way, it was Dimash's dream as a child that he could perform with Placido Domingo one day. And, that dream came true. Knowing to whom you are reacting to would be a sign of respect to the performer and gives you a better perspective of what is in front of you. In any case I did enjoy your reaction, as always!

If you're not familiar with the genre it's not unreasonable. Most [people's only exposure would have been through 'The Three Tenors'.

I'm guessing that you're European. Americans are woefully underexposed to classsical music. Yeah, it was a little cringy when she said, "That was pretty." but she did make an effort to understand with the musical education she has had she made some valid remarks, if a bit innocent.
