Thanks for the comment! Yeah there isn't much aftermarket sheet metal parts available aside from floor pans and lower quarter and fender panels, I wish you luck on your restoration!

More excellent work. One thing you proabaly not going to like is under the front cowell is the air vent intakes. For some reason the Ford engineers designed it so water collects around it and wont drain completely. If you are a purist dont read further but I used a hole saw to cutout two big holes over the vents under the cowell. It is hidden when the cowell is returned. I used a wire brush to remove a lot of rust. That left a lot of rust holes. I etched it with phosporic acid then epoxy primer then a couple of coats of flex seal. The "as seen on TV" flex seal. Finally I took a hefty piece of round stock , rounded off the ends, put it through the hole and pounded the lip down so the pocket will drain completely. Normally I wouldn't do something like this but the Ford engineers made me so mad with their design it made me feel better hammering it out. None of this is visable but probably not something a purist would want to hear.

Thanks for the advice! I know which area you are talking about, I will need to take a closer look at it and see if that area has the same issue as your car or not. Thankfully, I was able to get inside the cowl with a sandblaster and get almost the whole thing down to bare steel, and thankfully no rust damage in there! That Flex Seal stuff works great, I had painted a coolant pipe on my John Deere tractor and upon filling the cooling system, discovered a pin hole in the pipe. Normally I would weld the pipe to fix it, but since it was already painted I didn’t really want to damage the paint, so I shot a bunch of that Flex Seal inside the pipe. A year and a half later and still no leaks, great stuff!

Pro Tip: Spend $1.27 at Home Depot for a paint can lip pour spout. No drilling; no mess. Work smarter; not harder. 🙂
