I get so many questions about whether you can mix acids with ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, retinoids, etc. I’ll say, I use an AHA toner in the morning and use a vitamin C serum BUT I also use an essence or toner or both in-between. The worry is that they either cancel each other out or make your skin too sensitive. I don’t think they cancel, but it’s up to you to decide if your skin gets too sensitive. Same rule goes for acids and retinol at night. I tend to not use a vitamin C with a retinol though. I’ll try to put a video together soon, but there are so many exceptions to the rule.
Eban Shylla she just mentioned them in the video: for AHA, lactic acidosis is better for dry skin, anybody can use BHA for acne (salicylic acid is the only BHA), and hyaluronic acid is moisturizing. Ditto.
Heyy Susan, I have a random question. Recently I have been considering to use reusable cotton pads instead of disposible cotton facial pads. What do you think about it? Would it be as bad as the facial wipes?
I am most definitely one of those people who are interested in learning about skincare. This video was like a class. And I enjoyed every minute of it! Plus I liked the breakdown of the products and the different acids along with the benefits. I always look forward to a new video on skincare!🙂
I'd like to request an intro on what are the major skin care tips and steps for dry skin and what maybe the best products to use. Thankyou And stay safe out there!
This video is so helpful for us newbie in acids and to those planning to use one. I've been using both COSRX AHA Power Liquid (7%) and BHA Power Liquid (4% betaine salicylate) for almost 3 weeks now. I started using it every other night the first week by mixing 1:1 ratio, so it's diluted to 3.5% and 2% respectively. Now I'm almost on my 3rd week and I still mix it in 1:1 ratio but I use it every night. I'm planning to use it separately when my skin get used to it. AHA morning and BHA at night. So far my skin still purging but soooo much better. I have so much clogged pores and continuously get acne everyday before I use AHA and BHA. 1. Skin texture improved a lot. 2. Reduced dullness 3. Skin more bright and glowing 4. Less blackheads 5. Acne scars improved so much. 6. Reduced oiliness.
I just want to say THANK YOU for this video! I watched it when it came out a few days ago and put these tips into practice. I’ve had dry and red skin all summer. I’ve since bought the oil free scrub mentioned in this video along with a creamy cleanser with hyloranic acid. In just the past few days, I can already tell a huge difference.
Please do a video on skincare for dry sensitive skin and dealing with rosacea, things to do and not to do.. I’ve been dealing with rosacea my whole life, not really knowing what to do or how to take care of it. Now that I live in California, this heat has made my rosacea act up more often. I haven’t been wearing foundation mostly everyday so I won’t irritate my skin more than it is. I have been using a lot of sunscreen which I hear helps. Please make one as soon as possible. Love you so much and congrats and the new baby coming soon.😘😘😊
I have only known you since like 2 or 3 days but im super hooked by your videos and all the information!!!! and i went on and bought some products to my skin, i just love that i understand now how everything works and what my skin really needs and don't need,, u are amaaazing thank you 😍😍😍
This helped me so much, I have been slowly building my skincare routine over the past three months. I am pregnant right now but will only be for a couple more weeks. My skin has not changed much while pregnant but I just truly didn't have any knowledge about what each acid does for your face. I also watched your retinol video and it's something I kept hearing but didn't understand. I'm so grateful for your informative videos they're AMAZINGGGG. Thank you!
I got the pixi glow tonic a week ago (glycolic acid) and I'm loving it!! Best skin I've had in ages and it is relatively inexpensive ($15)! Glycolic truly does work and it makes me super happy to use it and the results are in fact immediate!
for snyone wanting to try hyaluronic acid and dont want to spend $15+, Kmarts new skincare line has an AMAZING non tacky feeling serum for only $4 and its honestly changed the way i look at my face for the better, i even get carded now again :D
I have dry skin that my Foreo Luna Mini cleared up nearly immediately. Then, at 24, I suddenly got hormonal acne once a month that was insane compared to the breakouts a dry skinned gal would typically get. BHAs saved my skin, cleared it up and made me not have acne the next period. I don't have to use it religiously, but every so often and ramp it up before my period. I get that if you have dry skin, it shouldn't be the one you go for, but dry skinned people can have uses for it too
Im so happy someone finally said its fine to use it every day if your skin can handle it! My breakouts significantly reduced since using this (I have the ordinary one) and I will never, ever stop using it. It has been the most effective for my breakouts compared to any other products... (retinol didn't work for me, also maybe I'm a bit to young to use it (23))
The Ren glow tonic has DRASTICALLY changed my skin by using it consistently. It's been everyday for two months now and oh my god my skin is so beautiful 😍😍😍
@@nicciGT I did too! I went through about 5 different kinds until I finally found Ren, I had never heard of the brand but knew they were considered "clean" so I decided to try it out. I'm almost on my second bottle. I will say if you're on the sensitive side I probably wouldn't use it because it is relatively strong.
Tina Jackson me too! I was advised in space NK in London where I live and started using it my skin just glow I no longer break out and my face is so smooth I am 36 but look a lot younger thanks to my parents good Gene's but my skin had been so dull during 2018 this one product has been a game changer for me.
Hi, is this a toner with acids? Do you ise exfoliating toners also on the eye area? Hope this is okay because I like to use my toners everywhere (also all over the eye area)
I love videos like this! If anyone here enjoyed this kind of video like me, I highly recommend the Beauty Within RUclips channel. It’s incredibly informative like this and really accessible. Just a suggestion for all you skincare lovers and beginners out there!
I prefer using glycolic acid at night mainly because sometimes my sensitive skin gets redness and “mild” irritation few seconds upon application which is surely long gone in the morning. That’s the only reason I do not use it in the morning...SPF is needed regardless of acid use.😊♥️ Susan is so informative and smart in skincare
I've been using acids for about 6 weeks for the first time, at least on purpose, and the change in my skin is unreal I missed a week last week and my tiny pimples came straight back. The glow is so much better in my face, and I only started because of you.
@@fantadiakhite8399 I have combination skin that's some what sensitive but I could handle the glycolic acid first. I would patch test if you have sensitive tho =)
I have oily / acne prone skin. What should be my morning routine & night time routine for a beginner? What steps do I need to take? Help please ! I love your videos ! So informational. I didn’t understand face care until I seen your videos !
Can you please do a weekly skincare routine! Perhaps even come out with a chart of all the products you use on a daily basis. I want to introduce some new products into my routine, but I'm unsure how often to use certain products/ingredients.
Susan you got me hooked on the ready, steady, glow by Ren! I had to give it a go after hearing you rave about it and not regretting it at all!! My skin has never looked this good ❤️
Please do more videos like this on the science of ingredients! If you could look into different alcohols or moisturizing agents along with possibly the best ingredients for different skin types I would love that! I’m trying to learn all that I can about skin care and its ingredients and this was an amazing help!!!
Just a note, adding water will not neutralise an acid, but dilute it and increase the pH (make it less acidic), which will reduce the feeling. To neutralise an acid, you have to add an alkaline or basic chemical (pH higher than 7). Think of hair dissolving creams, and household cleaners, how they make your skin smoother. Bases can also burn the skin, so adding water is the safest option in
The pH matter as the lower the pH the more free acids are being released. But glycolic acid and lactic below 15% at the pH below 3 won't have the same effect as the chemical peel at the doctor office, it is just too irritating for the skin to tolerate and might cause slight burn but some people can tolerate, Sunday Riley Good Genes is being formulated at 6% with a pH below 3.
It’s not that black and white. The free acid may penetrate immediately but that doesn’t mean the disassociated form left on the surface is doing nothing either.
I feel like Azelaic acid is such an underutilized, not as “popular,” FANTASTIC ingredient. My best skin has been when I used Azelaic acid and I wish more people talked about it.
how do you use azelaic acid?? i've been using it in my curology treatment bc i have horrible cystic acne and thats the only thing that calms it down and rly gets rid of it, but i was wondering if i could just get another product w azelaic acid rather than spending money on curology so often
@@NoopurDesai I forgot to mention, don't use Azelaic Acid alongside Curology. You will make yourself way too irritated and red. And that goes for all acids, they shouldn't be used in the same routine with Curology, as it is essentially, Tretinoin.
Yes!! It is the best acid for sensitive skin because it is good for redness and cleaning out your pores. It is used to treat rosacea actually, that’s how gentle it is! It is also the only exfoliating acid that doesn’t make you sensitive the sun, so it is perfectly safe to use during the summer
I love it so much, my skin is really sensitive so it’s the only acid I can use daily and have my skin not flaky, also I live in a tropical country so it’s awesome that it is sun safe !
Hi Susan, I think an interesting video would be going to TJMAX and seeing what’s generally good among the skincare there and what’s not. I know they have some name brands there but when I see a non-name brand sometimes and it’s so cheap and I’m on a budget... Curiosity strikes sometimes! Love you , your team, and the videos made!
Tjmax is a horrible place to buy skincare .. the stuff there is not stocked, they are leftovers from stores and tend to be compromised or expired. There is not consistency between the locations so if you find something at one.. the chance of anyone else finding the same thing is not very likely.. again though compromised/expired products are a nightmare to put on your skin. (Sometimes they sell fakes too)
Thank you for bringing up salicylic acid and cystic acne. I spent years having people tell me to use salicylic acid and it wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist that I was told to switch to benzoyl peroxide and it was life changing. After watching your videos I now use salicylic acid exfoliant to help with clogged pours near my hairline and cheeks. It’s helped a lot.
Susan, you have absolutely revolutionized my skin! Every video is so informative & non-biased. Your spirit is just too beautiful & I can't thank you enough for what you do! P.S. More reaction vids to men's skincare routines would be AMAZING!!! :)
Susan! Firstly, I love you!🤎 I'm a gay man that just turned 50. So I'm trying to really step up my skin care game by 💯. Ur vids have been invaluable! Ur so amazing and wonderful. I have been using Jack black for men as my goto. How ever I've been branching out with brands from luxury Chanel to drugstore Neutrogena. It can be very complicated & confusing. This subject of the "acids" has always baffled me. Thx so much for making this informative video. Luv ya babe!💓 Joseph Michael 🐻🌈😉
Hey Susan! I love your skin care videos!! I was hoping if you could ever make a video on a routine for older/mature skin? My mom is well into her 50s and has never used any skincare and I would LOVE to get some products for her to start!! Thank you so much 💖
So much info. So much good info. I suffer from cystic acne I have crazy craters on my face and nothing works. Dermatologists gave up on me and said I need plastic surgery at this point and I’m still cute and poor so I don’t get it. But I guess all the products I use are wrong wrong wrong! Good stuff!
Can you do a video talking about the pros and cons of an all to semi natural skin care routine. Products like African black soap, raw shea butter, and natural witch hazel get a lot of praise for being natural, but I rarely see them being used in people’s actually skin care routine and I would love it if you made a video dedicated to those products.❤️
I think there's a misconception that salicylic acid is always a drying/irritating ingredient. I think it really depends on the formulation its in and what other skin conditioning ingredients are present. I use the 2% BHA gel from Paulas Choice and it feels like a hydrating serum because it's so conditioning on the skin. But still has the exfoliating benefits of the BHA.
Jack Meriwether A bit strange people thinks it’s sensitising, it’s actually desensitising. But everyone have their own way with the skin and actives. ^.^
Hi, can you use this acids also on the eye area? I use a toner and like to use it everywhere, also on the eyearea, but bot sure if that is okay. It is a toner from skinceuticals and has some acids in it..
Omg YES, I’ve been waiting on a video like this! Very informative. Can you make a video on what ingredients you can pair and ingredients you can’t pair?
Wait... so... I use a gel cleanser that has hyaluronic acid, but I also use the serum by itself (from the ordinary). I just love how the gel cleanser was working for my skin so I bought the serum because my skin just seemed to need it. But should I just skip one of the steps and add maybe an AHA? My routine: Morning: gel cleanser, tea tree toner spray, niacinamide, hyaluronic serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sun screen Night: salicylic aid exfoliator*, same gel cleanser, same toner, retinoid serum, hyaluronic serum, eye cream, moisturizer *I use the salicylic acid cleanser as needed, sometimes once every other day or once a week. Depends on my hormones.
I've been watching your terrific skin care videos for a while now and to hear you disclose that you had lived in "New Mexico" made me do a double take. From one Asian halfling to another Asian halfling... "Hello from Albuquerque!" 🙋🏽♂️ I enjoy what you share and what I learn from your helpful, informative videos! 😊👍
AMAZING video. Great for those like me that are interested in ingredients and not know where to start. Could you make it a series, and talk about active ingredients next (like vit c), and other type of ingredients?
I use lactic acid from the ordinary and now my skin tone it's more bright, juicy, pinky and so so luminous. I was usual to have grey undertone in winter, now it's changed totally ❤️ salicilic acid it's amazing for the acne on my side chin(Paula's choice) and I'm trying adapalene(differin gel) because my dermatologist suggest it for my acne. I'm also taking zinc and hair skin and nails supplements from solgar on Amazon ❤️ Hope this could help you. Wish you all a beautiful pure flawless skin ❤️
I’ve been loving the peter Thomas roth peptide peel pads. I can’t use glycolic acid and those pads are one of very few effective gentle chemical exfoliants I’ve ever used.
I’m no expert but AHA’s are actually good for dry skin!! It’s made up of molecules that love water and it helps improve the skins moisture content. Paula’s choice 8% AHA gel has been amazing for my dry skin and hyperpigmentation 👍🏼
Hi, do you use acids etc also on the eye area? I like to use my toner everywhere, also on the eye area, but it has some acids/exfoliants in it. It is from skinceuticals. I hope this is okay to do.
Thank you for this video! I'm 26 with combination skin and I recently started using glycolic acid and vitamin C serums. I don't see much of a change with the vitamin C one but I'm in love with the way glycolic acid is improving my skin. I occasionally came to your channel to watch the SASS but now I'm definitely subscribing!
Hi, do you use those toners with acids also on the eye area? And vit C? Hope to hear. Because I like to put my toner everywhere also on the eye area. But not sure if this is okay to do if they have exfoliants in it..
@@user-gc3rv6jw3n You are not supposed to use acids around the eye area. I'm not sure about Vitamin C but for sure you don't want glycolic acid near your eyes.
Since I’ve been watching you I completely changed my skincare routine and my skin has never been better 💗 I am also pregnant so those videos have been so helpful🤰🏽
Hi, do you use toners with acids/exfoliating properties? And if so, do you use it on your eye area? Hope to hear if others do this. I like to use my toner on the eye area but not sure if this is good to do if it contains acids/exfoliants..
I've been using a gel cleanser from neutrogena that has salicylic acid and and I really like it it doesn't dry my face out. It's called Acne Proofing. Not an Ad!! Haha
I’ve read before than glycolic acid is better for dry skin than salicylic acid plus you should always apply it on dry skin because damp or wet skin will make it penetrate deeper and cause more irritation
What about using Glycolic acid cream? what do you prefer? I have been using a Glycolic Acid cream and it worked very well. It did make my skin flake for the first week but now my skin a responded very well to it. I am in my middle 40's.
Lactic Acid - Good Genes, being an acid exfoliater but also a serum, where in your skincare routine would you use it? Does it take off your serums/ toners prior or after applying?
Thank you for this video! I have looked all over for a combination video of all these acids to watch! I work in beauty and am always looking for easy access to information! Thank you!
I watched a video about hyaluronic acid and they said there's no such thing as 2% or 100% hyaluronic acid, the right percentage and the pure one would be 1%. They also recommended not to use it alone, keeping your face moist & then adding it would be the way to go or mix it with a moisturizer. I'd love to know if this is true, but it actually makes sense, cuz it sounds like it's more of a booster and should not be used alone
Never EVER use hyaluronic acid on its own. A year ago, I was just getting into skin care and didn’t know what I was doing. I was only 24 and I used a hyaluronic acid serum and put wayyyy too much in my moisturizer. My skin of course didn’t feel moisturized, it felt tight. I had never noticed any lines on my face until then. I got a terrible forehead line and I really believe that doing that induced the appearance of it. I have to get Botox now. Always make sure you know what you’re doing!
Hi Susan!!!! I've become a huge fan of yours!!! Can you please do a review on Fourth Ray beauty skin care products soon?? I'd love to hear what you have to say about their skin care products. Thanks!!!
I ABSOLUTELY love their Reveal AHA serum. I returned the Tarte knockout for it because the Remedy works way better for me. I bought almost the entire line and I have not been disappointed by the stuff I bought
so my only question is could i use multiple acids together and if there are certain things specific acids can’t be mixed with like vitamin c because i LOVE vitamin c and as of right now i use the ordinary glycolic acid toner that she has shown in a video before and i really want to start using at least hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid like once a week because i know using it more then that WILL be irritating i’ve never been someone who could use a face wash with it in it because it would just make me breakout because it was too strong for my skin but i’ve never tried it in serum form where i have more of a choice what’s days i can use it rather than it being in my face wash. which now i only use super gentle face washes and they do the trick for my skin! but i would seriously love to see a video of what acids can be mixed together and what ingredients the acids can be mixed with!!
Hi Susan! Love ur content so much. Quick question, I have texture/clogged pores and hyperpigmentation. What should target I first...the hyperpigmentation or the texture? All answers welcome. Thanks
I'm usiny hollywood style pimple reducing gel..And the active ingredients of that gel is Salicylic acid, glycolic acid, sulfur and benzoyl peroxide..Is it fine to use that gel? because i got acne on my front and back chest in my adulthood and its very hurt breaking for me..Coz i never got acne in my teens! and dont know why but that gel doing too slow!
When should you use the salicylic acid? How many times per week and in night/daytime? And can you use lactic acid, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid together?
This video is what got me into creating a skincare routine for the first time! Loved it 🥰 I’m just curios though, I’ve heard about a scandal involving Mario Badescu products using undisclosed steroids in their formula. Could you talk a bit about that in a future video? I’ve steered clear of their products because of this, however, I would like to try their spot treatments and face mists, if they are safe.
Hi Susan! I have learned so much from your videos and have been able to better my skincare routine, so thank you so much for that :) Although, I am always worried about using two active ingredients on my skin at one time. Would you say that a Vitamin C serum would be okay to use in the morning after an exfoliating toner, followed by a basic moisturizer and SPF? I want to say yes as they do different things to your skin but wanted to confirm with someone who has a large knowledge base rather than an online source.
I would love to know the same thing. I've been using a glycolic toner and following it with a vitamin C serum in the morning, then SPF. Not too sure if I'm doing it right either. From what I've learned, a low pH product is less effective if your skin's pH is really high. Vitamin C is low pH so I like to use a low pH toner beforehand. My cleanser is a higher pH so I need to balance it before applying the vitamin C.
Griffin Bastedo it’s okay provided your skin can handle it and you’re not experiencing irritation. I do think it would be better to split it up though and use the glycolic at night.
elepop that’s false. Cosmetic chemists design these products for our natural skin PH which is 4.5 to 5. Lowering the PH prior can increase irritation. My best advice is don’t try and DIY, cosmetic chemists are incredibly well versed on skin anatomy and function and well as cosmetic science and take all factors into account when formulating:
elepop that’s not ideal of course. Some research suggests that using tap water or cleansers with PH 7 and above can raise the PH of the skin for hours. Heres one mention: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18489300/ However, it’s a small raise in PH. Maybe .5 or so. While PH is logarithmic so that’s much higher than you’d think, everybody has a slightly different skin PH (and women in general seem to have slightly lower skin PH) and cosmetic chemists account for these variations. I highly recommend using a cleanser with a PH of around 5 if possible though. The skin already isn’t designed to be cleansed, water especially is an irritant and the entire process is disruptive to the skin. A higher PH cleanser also is damaging to your microflora and lower skin PH is linked to better skin health in studies. Just my 2 cents.
I am in medical school and was told hyalauranic acid holds 300x it’s weight, not 1000x. But silver ear mushrooms hold 500x or possibly more water than its weight.
Do you recommend using 10% glycolic acid in the morning and 0.5% retinol at night for normal skin once a week for a beginner ? Also with vitamin C every morning?
for anyone who came to know about specific acids:
0:47 Glycolic Acid
5:42 Lactic Acid
8:23 Salicylic Acid
13:13 Hyaluronic Acid
Aaawww thank you !
fanks luv

Catalina Guzman that’s a myth. Vit C and niacinamide not working together has be debunked. The science was questionable to begin with.

Thank you!
I’ve used glycolic acid for my dark spots and it actually made them less noticeable i loved it !
OMG this video was so simple to understand. Absolutely flawless. I might dona version of it in Portuguese for those who can’t speak English.
Please do a video about mixing ingredients!
I got the pixi glow tonic a week ago (glycolic acid) and I'm loving it!! Best skin I've had in ages and it is relatively inexpensive ($15)! Glycolic truly does work and it makes me super happy to use it and the results are in fact immediate!
Pixi glow tonic is life!!!!
for snyone wanting to try hyaluronic acid and dont want to spend $15+, Kmarts new skincare line has an AMAZING non tacky feeling serum for only $4 and its honestly changed the way i look at my face for the better, i even get carded now again :D
I get that if you have dry skin, it shouldn't be the one you go for, but dry skinned people can have uses for it too
Can you do a video in how you came to know skincare? Are you an esthetician or how did you get so informed on everything? I need all the tips.
Im so happy someone finally said its fine to use it every day if your skin can handle it! My breakouts significantly reduced since using this (I have the ordinary one) and I will never, ever stop using it. It has been the most effective for my breakouts compared to any other products... (retinol didn't work for me, also maybe I'm a bit to young to use it (23))
What products are you using?
The Ren glow tonic has DRASTICALLY changed my skin by using it consistently. It's been everyday for two months now and oh my god my skin is so beautiful 😍😍😍
Really? I have been using many glycolic acids but have not found one I love yet :(
@@nicciGT I did too!
Do you use it after washing before moisturizing?
Oh My god. I'm so in love with this very knowledgeable woman! This type of woman exists!
I've been using acids for about 6 weeks for the first time, at least on purpose, and the change in my skin is unreal I missed a week last week and my tiny pimples came straight back. The glow is so much better in my face, and I only started because of you.
Also the ordinary glycolic acid is really good I agree!
miss tatty did you sensitive or dry skin ?
@@fantadiakhite8399 I have combination skin that's some what sensitive but I could handle the glycolic acid first. I would patch test if you have sensitive tho =)
miss tatty thank you ;)
I just need a gif of you and your viewers pouring hyaluronic acid on ourselves. I love it so much. Especially the watermelon glow recipe night mask.
I have oily / acne prone skin. What should be my morning routine & night time routine for a beginner? What steps do I need to take? Help please ! I love your videos ! So informational. I didn’t understand face care until I seen your videos !
I just love seeing Liah's products being used
Can you please do a weekly skincare routine!
My skin has never looked this good ❤️
Christie Woohooo!
Bases can also burn the skin, so adding water is the safest option in
Hannah Amiat If you apply water to your skin after using a glycolic acid, it will neutralize it.
Hannah Amiat Water does not neutralize it completely but still has some neutralizing properties.
Caity Joyce yes I agree!!
how do you use azelaic acid?? i've been using it in my curology treatment bc i have horrible cystic acne and thats the only thing that calms it down and rly gets rid of it, but i was wondering if i could just get another product w azelaic acid rather than spending money on curology so often
(Sometimes they sell fakes too)
That would be very helpful
Beautiful Soul this is a great topic
Thank you for bringing up salicylic acid and cystic acne. I spent years having people tell me to use salicylic acid and it wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist that I was told to switch to benzoyl peroxide and it was life changing. After watching your videos I now use salicylic acid exfoliant to help with clogged pours near my hairline and cheeks. It’s helped a lot.
Exfoliating is indeed a crucial step that most people for some reason miss. Fantastic video! 💞
Susan, you have absolutely revolutionized my skin! Every video is so informative & non-biased. Your spirit is just too beautiful & I can't thank you enough for what you do! P.S. More reaction vids to men's skincare routines would be AMAZING!!! :)
tyler lawson I love reading comments like this!
tyler lawson And I have a men’s skincare reaction this Thursday!
Susan! Firstly, I love you!🤎
I'm a gay man that just turned 50.
Luv ya babe!💓
Joseph Michael 🐻🌈😉
Hey Susan! I love your skin care videos!! I was hoping if you could ever make a video on a routine for older/mature skin? My mom is well into her 50s and has never used any skincare and I would LOVE to get some products for her to start!! Thank you so much 💖
watermelmon Hi! I’ll consider this for sure!
Please make the video
I need help for my mom as well
So much info. So much good info. I suffer from cystic acne I have crazy craters on my face and nothing works. Dermatologists gave up on me and said I need plastic surgery at this point and I’m still cute and poor so I don’t get it. But I guess all the products I use are wrong wrong wrong! Good stuff!
Love love love please post your nightly and morning skin care routines 😍
Can you do a video talking about the pros and cons of an all to semi natural skin care routine. Products like African black soap, raw shea butter, and natural witch hazel get a lot of praise for being natural, but I rarely see them being used in people’s actually skin care routine and I would love it if you made a video dedicated to those products.❤️
i have dry skin but i use the mario badescu glycolic acid toner and its sooooooo hydrating and it doesnt dry me out at all!!
There are so many options, so here’s my question. Why would I need to use Glycolic acid? Is it a must?
Can you make a video on
what ingredients you can pair and ingredients you can’t pair?
Wait... so... I use a gel cleanser that has hyaluronic acid, but I also use the serum by itself (from the ordinary). I just love how the gel cleanser was working for my skin so I bought the serum because my skin just seemed to need it. But should I just skip one of the steps and add maybe an AHA?
My routine:
Morning: gel cleanser, tea tree toner spray, niacinamide, hyaluronic serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sun screen
Night: salicylic aid exfoliator*, same gel cleanser, same toner, retinoid serum, hyaluronic serum, eye cream, moisturizer
*I use the salicylic acid cleanser as needed, sometimes once every other day or once a week. Depends on my hormones.
I believe the main or safest tip is to ONLY have 1 active on every routine you do and the rest are basics. 👌
I tried Sunday Riley lactic acid recently and I love it!!! my favorite acid
I've been watching your terrific skin care videos for a while now and to hear you disclose that you had lived in "New Mexico" made me do a double take. From one Asian halfling to another Asian halfling... "Hello from Albuquerque!" 🙋🏽♂️
I enjoy what you share and what I learn from your helpful, informative videos!
I'm also taking zinc and hair skin and nails supplements from solgar on Amazon ❤️
Hope this could help you.
Wish you all a beautiful pure flawless skin ❤️
I’m gonna try to salicylic acid for dandruff! Thanks!! Hyaluronic acid changed my life with stubborn eyelid eczema. This video was awesome.
Which brands Hyaluronic acid do you use? Would be a help. Thanks!
No one ever mentions the best AHA out there - Alpha Skincare 14% glycolic acid serum. Under $20, and extremely effective.
Oh thanks. :)
Your videos are put together so well. Very organized, I love it.
Can you make a video related to safe makeup products during pregnancy? Thank you.
I love these videos. You’re a great teacher and these videos are so educational. I’m so happy to have found you!
I have learn sooo much from susan it’s crazy
Alyssia Whalen I love it! 🤗🤗
What should I do? Apply Salicylic acid, then Niacinamide and then moisturizer?
Since I’ve been watching you I completely changed my skincare routine and my skin has never been better 💗 I am also pregnant so those videos have been so helpful🤰🏽
Hi, do you use toners with acids/exfoliating properties? And if so, do you use it on your eye area? Hope to hear if others do this. I like to use my toner on the eye area but not sure if this is good to do if it contains acids/exfoliants..
I've been using a gel cleanser from neutrogena that has salicylic acid and and I really like it it doesn't dry my face out. It's called Acne Proofing.
Not an Ad!! Haha
Best informative skincare information that I have heard on youtube. Loved It!
I love ur videos, It’s like having a private class on skincare, thank you
I’ve read before than glycolic acid is better for dry skin than salicylic acid plus you should always apply it on dry skin because damp or wet skin will make it penetrate deeper and cause more irritation
That color looks amazing on you!
J.J.Vancura Thank you!
At what age should you start adding acids to your routines? And at what age should you start using oils?
I have a sensitive and dry skin but I use glycolic acid in a facial wash form.....and my skin is so flawless I even dont wear makeup.....
What about using Glycolic acid cream? what do you prefer? I have been using a Glycolic Acid cream and it worked very well. It did make my skin flake for the first week but now my skin a responded very well to it. I am in my middle 40's.
Can you do a routine for different skin types?
Lactic Acid - Good Genes, being an acid exfoliater but also a serum, where in your skincare routine would you use it? Does it take off your serums/ toners prior or after applying?
My skin has gotten so much better !
Thank you for this video! I have looked all over for a combination video of all these acids to watch! I work in beauty and am always looking for easy access to information! Thank you!
Please do a video about the different alcohols that can be found in skin care! 😘
Please! I would also love a video on how to mix ingredients and products!
You said salicylic acid doesn’t for hormonal acne. What product would you recommend for hormonal acne?
@@kusumsharma7858 ARMY is everywhere.. also... agreed
try spironolactone oral medication or switching your BC..both worked for me after trying every product in the book!
I cured my hormonal ance by taking this supplement call Lysine 3 times a day.

OMG. Why did I just find you now?! Just finished watching this video and I'm totally hooked, Ms. Susan! I super love your content!
I have a vitamin c serum with hyaluronic acid. How often should I use it?
Never EVER use hyaluronic acid on its own. A year ago, I was just getting into skin care and didn’t know what I was doing. I was only 24 and I used a hyaluronic acid serum and put wayyyy too much in my moisturizer. My skin of course didn’t feel moisturized, it felt tight. I had never noticed any lines on my face until then. I got a terrible forehead line and I really believe that doing that induced the appearance of it. I have to get Botox now. Always make sure you know what you’re doing!
This was very helpful. I’m in my 30’s and I am struggling with acne and redness. I’ll try the products you’ve shown
Hi Susan!!!!
Excellent description of the acids
I use salicylic, niacinamide and glycolic acid and love them!
Do you mind saying which products you use?
She is really really really good explainer
When should you use the salicylic acid? How many times per week and in night/daytime? And can you use lactic acid, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid together?
This video is what got me into creating a skincare routine for the first time! Loved it 🥰 I’m just curios though, I’ve heard about a scandal involving Mario Badescu products using undisclosed steroids in their formula. Could you talk a bit about that in a future video? I’ve steered clear of their products because of this, however, I would like to try their spot treatments and face mists, if they are safe.
You're lips look absolutely gorgeous Susan! Seriously look so good and I'm loving that lip color 😍
A video on product layering, please! And problems thereof! Like that damned carbomer pilling effect...
@@skinsciencebymira I see! My favorite cleanser has a pH of 8 though...
elepop that’s not ideal of course. Some research suggests that using tap water or cleansers with PH 7 and above can raise the PH of the skin for hours. Heres one mention:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18489300/
However, it’s a small raise in PH.
I just found your channel and I love it, it’s very informative, thank you for sharing!
