Priaanti Thakre hydrate hydrate hydrate! you should be drinking half your weight a day. (ex: if you weigh 100lbs then you’ll be drinking 50 oz of water a day) if you wear makeup then switch to hydrating products, wear sunscreen!! don’t exfoliate often either, if you have oily skin then i suggest only exfoliating once a week because teen skin is sensitive and still changing due to our hormones.

So you've mentioned silicones and specifically dimethicone a couple of times in relation to clogged pores I have been trying to avoid it. But I work in a drugstore where we sell some high end brands like Estee Lauder, clinique, Lancome etc and all of the serums I've checked have somekind of silicone in it, so what can you use of you shouldn't use those? Cause I'm a student at uni and can't afford the world so I generally just use what I get from the store to try out but those tend to clog my pores :(
A silicone free serum I've found is the vitamin c one from Sephora Collection. Some moisturizers I've found is the hydrate and repair from Sephora Collection and skinactive with rosewater from Garnier.
I am glad you mentioned silicone. All of my products are silicone free because they cause irritation to my skin so I try to avoid them if I can. Not alot of people think that silicone could be a problem
I'm reminded to emulsify my oil cleanser when I watch your cleanser videos. My pores were getting clogged because I was skipping the emulsification step. Once I resumed, my pores started to clear up.
I love how you share the wealth of your knowledge. I feel like historically the beauty industry is so consumed with making a profit that it false advertises and markets really bad things for our skin health..20 years from now 90% of what we do is going to be wrong....:/ Thank you for the info! :)
Oh my gosh she is absolutely right about people who have oily skin tend to not use a moisturizer because they think it will make the skin more oily because it's trying to overcompensate. I did that for years, I didnt use a moisturizer and when I applied all sorts of mattifying primers and foundations within an hour or 2 my skin would be so oily and continue to produce oil on my face all day. Now I use a good moisturizer and I dont even need to use mattifying products and I dont even have to touch up my makeup it stays matte all day.
I had been dealing with clogged pores and oiliness for most of my adult life, but now in my mid 30’s I’ve learned what mistakes I was doing. I wasn’t using the proper products and I realized I am very very sensitive to a lot of ingredients. I also damaged my skin barrier by over exfoliating and now I only exfoliate 3x’s a wk and I use the right products and my holy grail, a retin-a at night. I’m finally getting to a sweet spot with my skin, I hope, but it’s been rough. 😊
@@sakthisanjanap I get whiteheads too sometimes. For me as long as it's just a few and only occasionally and because they usually heal in a few days it's fine I wouldn't go on a pursuit to conquer them. If it's like more chronic I'd then be more alert with what i consume, less sugar and avoid dairy, and then be minimalistic with my skincare, and spot treat. But I know this isnt my beauty channel, lol.
Anne Worawan I don’t find The Ordinary retinoid products very effective. Differin is a good OTC option if you have acne but it’s a retinoid (adapalene to be specific) not OTC retinol. The best affordable one is hands down The Inkey List retinol serum. It’s a very effective 1% treatment that’s excellent for anti aging, texture, and more.

Hi Susan. I've been using The Ordinary.0.5% retinol with squaline, for about 4 months now. And since I've started using it I've been getting a lot of 'little pimples', which I never used to get. I would get an occasional pimple here and there which I'm guessing was hormonal. I started the retinol to help with texture and doing a chemical exfoliation but now I have these constant little pimples to deal with. Any advice please?

What’s everyone’s opinion on cheaper sheet masks? (Like ones you can buy in the line at forever 21 etc) I always get freaked out by them because I assume they are full of cheap products but they seem to be quite popular
I don’t know if you’ve talked about this in a previous video, but I’ve recently been hearing about how another way to help control oil production for oily skin is to add products with Linoleic acid since oily skin is lacking that acid. Could you talk about this in an upcoming video?
Im a 15 yd female and I want to know when is the time to get a full skincare routine including like exfoliator serum oil based cleansor etc because so far I only use a cleanser and a light lotion year round and my mom says I'm too young to have a full on skincare routine so I really want to when is the right time to get one.
Which kind of “fake” retinoids can I use while pregnant? You mentioned them a couple times in other videos, but did you find any that were actually a good replacement for your pre-pregnancy retinol? I’m struggling trying to find one that’s safe, but actually does something.
Great video 💕 1. Can you please recommend what kind of laser treatment to boost collagen and shrink pores? 2. Do you think chemical peel and prp are good?
I have tried a few toners, but I just don’t see or feel the benefits of a toner. Also, it’s a bit confusing when an Esthetician tells me to use a toner, but a dermatologist tells me not to use a toner. I have dry skin, but since I stopped washing my face with soap and switched to a cleanser, that’s getting better. Right now my skincare consists of a Retinoid, Hyaluronic acid, moisturizer, cleanser, and a double cleanse when needed. Along with mask, Argon oil for Jade rolling, structured water for micro needling, with sheet mask and peel mask a few times a month. I would love to know what would be a good toner for dry/mature skin, anyone?? I would love to see a video talking about toners if possible too, thanks 💜💋💋Love your videos, BTW!
I would actually recommend an essence if you're looking for more hydration, I feel it gives me more than a toner before serum and moisturizer. 👍 I personally love Vital treatment's essence.
Toner can pack hydration in your skin. You can layer them like the Koreans do. I do 3-5 layers of toners depending on my skin need. Super hydrating! You can search on RUclips for 7 skin method. I love my hada labo gokyujun, soon jung, keep cool bamboo and I'm from rice toner.
I tried using coconut oil on my cystic acne- prone skin because it was dried out from the topical acne meds I was using. Big mistake. I think I tried it because I saw some natural blog about how good it was. Our skin is not created equal, even if you have the same skin “type.” What works for me and my acne prone skin may not work for others with acne prone skin.
My face does not release a lot of oil except for my nose. My nose it always oily, is there a way to fix that.(I do moisturize in my skin care routine and I also use spf every morning)
Lord Remi it’s hard to answer without knowing your full skincare routine. The T zone does tend to be more oily. Make sure you’re not stripping the skin when you cleanse. Something like The Ordinary niacinamide and zinc serum may help some.
How would you recommend exfoliating for someone whose skin is very congested but also gets very dried out by all the chemical exfoliants and then over compensates?
@@nicoledelrosario7631 hi i hope i can help. i try micro needling several times alrdy, but just as facial you cant do it just once or twice. because face keep producing oils and like susan said can get easily cloged and appeared large.. so i do micro needling once every 2-3months. and loving the result
Anastasia Julaidi Hello I’m planning to have my micro needling on thursday because my dermatologist said that it would help my pores to appear smaller and have less oily face
My pores look so much better after two things. 1. Salicylic face wash in the morning every other day. 2. Double cleanse at night. I was only using cold cream at night which is made mostly of mineral oil. It definitely leaves a residue. Now I wash the residue off with a cleanser like Cerave or Cetaphil.
A big thing for me that I only recently learned in m early 30s is the difference between a blackhead and a sebaceous filament. I spent years trying to squeeze out filaments and I have a few little broken capillaries on my nose now 😭
My skin still not found the right moisturizer yet, so i replace it with humectant essence that feels really hydrating on my skin, so far its the best way rather than letting my skin got so many bumpies(bcs of the moisturizer). So its replaacing my moisturizer with humectant essence will be okay?
Hi Susan! I have a really quick question. What are your thoughts on witch hazel and other astringents for people with combination/ oily skin? I am not sure if it will be too drying for my skin similar to the effects of drying alcohols. (I would ask the question on Instagram dm's but sadly I don't have an account. ) Thank you!
ash if it’s the pure witch hazel brand it’s full of alcohols and way to stripping for your skins barrier, as an ingredient in a product it is good though

I finally figured it out! Your voice sounds so much like Holly Madison’s!
I read this and immediately thought you were a crazy person, 30 seconds later and I hear it now.
I don’t know if you’ve talked about this in a previous video, but I’ve recently been hearing about how another way to help control oil production for oily skin is to add products with Linoleic acid since oily skin is lacking that acid. Could you talk about this in an upcoming video?
Thank you for making such a detailed video! ❤ It was very informative.
Thank you Susan for another Great and informative video💓
So Susan, you mentioned how collagen is good for your skin what about taking a collagen supplement? Would that help our pores?
what do you think about unseen supergoop sunscreen Susan? Thanks so much for sharing
Parmida Hamzeh yes! I use this and I would love to know her opinion
Can you please review Lush skincare???
Im a 15 yd female and I want to know when is the time to get a full skincare routine including like exfoliator serum oil based cleansor etc because so far I only use a cleanser and a light lotion year round and my mom says I'm too young to have a full on skincare routine so I really want to when is the right time to get one.
REVIEW DR. Pimple poppers routine PLEASE!!!!
What do you think of the La Roche-Posay brand?
Which kind of “fake” retinoids can I use while pregnant? You mentioned them a couple times in other videos, but did you find any that were actually a good replacement for your pre-pregnancy retinol? I’m struggling trying to find one that’s safe, but actually does something.
Thank you for the video🌼Avoiding dairy is critical if you have cystic acne💜
Great video 💕
1. Can you please recommend what kind of laser treatment to boost collagen and shrink pores?
2. Do you think chemical peel and prp are good?
I definitely needed this video! ! Thank you!!
Tina Fox Susan said that Toners are not necessary for your routine (check out her video about unnecessary products!)
Hi susan....... so do exfoliate and use retinol in same routine ? ... ... some product reccomendations at the end would have been great.
can we use blackhead peel off masks often?
Soma Dey I don’t think she recommends those. Like biore strips?
My face does not release a lot of oil except for my nose. My nose it always oily, is there a way to fix that.(I do moisturize in my skin care routine and I also use spf every morning)
Lord Remi it’s hard to answer without knowing your full skincare routine. The T zone does tend to be more oily. Make sure you’re not stripping the skin when you cleanse. Something like The Ordinary niacinamide and zinc serum may help some.
I use the cetaphil cleanser
Your hair is stunning.. plz make hair care routine 😍
She's asian. It's mainly genetics.
Thank you so much for your videos! Can you please do a review of Miranda Kerr’s line, Kora Organics or Jessica Alba’s line, Honest Beauty?
Thank you for this video. So informative.
Can you do a video on how to balance oil or some helpful tips???
How would you recommend exfoliating for someone whose skin is very congested but also gets very dried out by all the chemical exfoliants and then over compensates?
Frick yes new video!! 💖💖
What do you think of having micro needling for slightly large pores??
I'd love to know too! Considering it myself
I hope someone will answer ☺️
@@nicoledelrosario7631 hi i hope i can help. i try micro needling several times alrdy, but just as facial you cant do it just once or twice. because face keep producing oils and like susan said can get easily cloged and appeared large.. so i do micro needling once every 2-3months. and loving the result
Anastasia Julaidi Hello I’m planning to have my micro needling on thursday because my dermatologist said that it would help my pores to appear smaller and have less oily face
@Anastasia Julaidi what is the downtime of micro needling? My face can easily get red.
Thanks for these great tips 👌👌
What is a good exfoliator? Do you have a video on that?
A big thing for me that I only recently learned in m early 30s is the difference between a blackhead and a sebaceous filament. I spent years trying to squeeze out filaments and I have a few little broken capillaries on my nose now 😭
Holy shit, how didn't I know that. thank you!
(I would ask the question on Instagram dm's but sadly I don't have an account. ) Thank you!
ash if it’s the pure witch hazel brand it’s full of alcohols and way to stripping for your skins barrier, as an ingredient in a product it is good though
can you do a review of the inkey list brand?
