I've studied this guy for 26 years and I've gotten nothing but GOLD! Church music have your ears on point. Shot Out to my Jersey church family!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😎
"what take in and what to take out" Most producers just leave it and let the artist write around the track. It's so good to know the philosophy around music.
GTFOH!!!!!!!!! He's no where near Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Not where near Babyface. He cant f&%^%$ with R kelly's catalog. Best album Dark Child made is Never Say Never. He never made anything better. Put him near Teddy Riley. Thats about it.
Diane V you can definitely make the argument that he’s up there with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis... I mean he’s literally got several songs on a Mary J album with Babyface and Jam & Lewis.... DarkChild is definitely in the realm of Jam & Lewis. He’s got a huge catalog of hits that he not only produced, but wrote. He ain’t Babyface, but he’s pretty close to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. You could also argue he’s closer to Timbaland, but I think Darkchild’s style is more in the realm of the Jam & Lewises of the world haha.
There I was, thinking you're talking about computer monitors, being a computer guy ;-) Being an aspiring producer, I understand what you mean! Those are huge
Dude is in my top 5 of producers. Notice he doesn't have all that gear stuff anymore, he's working on a laptop, no more SSL 48 track board, or big Ausburg speakers. I'm in the box now, I don't have all that gear either. bass is very important, I have made my own, and put them in C-note so when I bring it up on Sample joint in Studio One it hits sweet in the lower register.
Wrong. Rodney prolly should have put a lil Distortion on the bass like Decapitator or Fab Filter Saturn 2. Then it would put out of the phone or laptop. Sick bass sound tho!
@@stylzkeyz Wow. Someone knows a little something about music production. People weren't distorting their basses like that in the 90s, early 2000's though. Today, bass is crazy distorted.
takeaways: - embrace call & response between elements of the beat and the artist's songwriting, - embrace mirroring melodically what the artists is doing to create cohesion - K.I.S.S

This guy is a flipping Genius,One of if not the Best R&B Producer from the Late 90's To early 2000's.
What a sensei! Respect Sir. By far the best producer in the game.

Beautiful composition. We need more videos of Rodney Jerkins.

Nah! Jam and Lewis are in a league of their own. Not taking anything away from DC, he is talented, but JJ&TL are legendary.
Just saw a old video from him. Not sure they are the same pair but he used them years ago.
Man who gives AF, they're all better than us😂😂😂

Is there a tutorial on how to make a bass slide with reaktor 6 like Rodney Jerkins?
There's a Glide option on the left side of Reaktor. Turn it to silver mode, portamento, and adjust the time setting.
@@CheyneQueezy to sound like Rodney’s Full Moon for Brandys song, what time setting do you think?
I will love dark child to produce my hit classic..he's good in what he does

does anybody know how to find the "Punch In The Balls" bass preset in Reaktor 6?
You have to download “razor” from native instruments it’s in that expansion
It's refreshing to see a producer who doesn't organize their project into oblivion. His projects look just like mine!
Beautiful playing!
Reaktor is one of my favorite vst for Bass sounds
🎶🎶 Thanks for this, it wil help me out through my journey as a Female producer 🔥🔥🎤
Me: Listens to bass production video on phone. With no headphones.

I was hoping this video had CC after listening to him at :38. Just wondering if closed caption would spell what he said as pimento.
