Curran St Basement Reno: A Stunning Transformation
Hey everyone, welcome back to our channel! Today, we're diving into an incredible renovation story that turned a disaster into a dream home.
The Problem:
The great Auckland floods exposed a major flaw in our clients' home-a poorly executed renovation from years ago. Water was pouring in from the roof and basement, turning their home into a nightmare.
The Solution:
We teamed up with Nala Studio Architects to design a foolproof plan to keep the water out and restore the home's integrity.
The Process:
We started by raising the house 5mm off its current foundations without disturbing the upper levels. Next, we demolished the existing foundations and walls and cut back the slab to allow for new trench footing and a nib wall to be poured in situ. The design included adding two interior walls with eco ply bracing for extra stability. Carefully settling the house was crucial, ensuring the clay below didn’t cause any issues and making the 4-door timber slider operate flawlessly.
We wrapped the house in fresh weatherboards and installed new double-glazed joinery by Next Level Joinery, matching it perfectly with the old style. Finally, we added a new laundry, expertly plumbed by Gravity Plumbing.
The Result:
This beautiful villa is now fully operational and stunningly restored. It’s hard to believe the transformation-like the renovation never even happened!
