    Having driven the hell out of a 2012 R/T Classic for three years, I can't even imagine driving the perfection that is the Hellcat. All Challenger prayers answered. You are a lucky man to have spent so much time with that car. Challengers slide like a minx around corners if so incline, and do truly handle like a super car. Thinking about what the R/T does, and imagining the Hellcat... infinite enjoyment and usability.
    I bet it smelled amazing in there.
    Goddamn.
    I have to go take a cold shower.
    Good review.

    • @mhtube01
      @mhtube01 9 лет назад +6

      ***** And the best part is, that's the stock exhaust! Dodge really nailed the sound, it sounds about as close to an angry animal as a car will get. They gave the 392 an amazing sound as well for 2015! But that supercharger whine

    • @Kaitos11
      @Kaitos11 9 лет назад +1

      Indeed! It's insane that Dodge produced such beasts (Charger included) at such a low price.

    • @mhtube01
      @mhtube01 9 лет назад +1

      It is insane, that's one of the reasons I love them! I've always been a Mopar guy and when Dodge produces a car like the Hellcats and the Viper, I'm reminded why. Yes the Viper was too expensive for 2013 and 2014 so lowering the price by 15k made a huge difference and made it a much more competitive car! There are few cars out there that can match the personality of the Viper, if any can. It's just so sinister looking and one of the fastest American cars every produced. So glad they put it back under the Dodge brand too and canned the whole SRT brand idea, I never understood why they did that instead of keeping it a division. Anyway, this car is amazing and I'm looking to get a Scat Pack Shaker as my next car! Hellcat is too expensive right now and even the SRT 392 is out of my budget but the Scat Packs are a bargain!

    Dodge should have put a lot more badging on the hellcat so it's easily distinguishable from the v6. If I pay for a hellcat, I sure as hell don't want it to look remotely like the v6.

    • @keenanclarke6378
      @keenanclarke6378 9 лет назад +6

      stgz13 It looks absolutely nothing like the v6 in the body lol... The hood, taillights, and hell...even the wheels are wider. For anyone who is looking or paying any attention with eyes or ears its obvious.

    • @droidtrooper100
      @droidtrooper100 9 лет назад +6

      Have you looked at it compared to other models? It is so distinguishably different. The hood, grille, front, headlights, etc are different.

    • @Sega_is_all_i_cd
      @Sega_is_all_i_cd 9 лет назад +1

      I hear you but it looks like a hellcat and not a v6, RT. The tires, hood, and the exhaust separates itself from the rest and it's noticeable. Even Stevie Wonder can point out an Hellcat. Now the standard SRT yes maybe. But I do understand u, if you pay that much it should have way more badging. The cat symbol should be on the grill as well on how it is on the 3 quarter panels. But you can more to it, like a window decal front or back.

    • @Bournefort
      @Bournefort 9 лет назад +4

      +stgz13 Anybody who knows anything about cars will know immediately that this is a Hellcat. I can spot Hellcats a quarter mile away on the highway by the front fascia and hood scoop. In my opinion, subtle is more impressive. Decals and excess badges remind me of teenagers ricing out their cars.

    Turbos do not lag anymore. People that think turbos still lag have not driven modern twin scroll, bi-turbos or twin turbo engines. Turbo don't rob any engine power. Turbos> Supercharges

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  9 лет назад +61

      Alex Baker Idk what it is, but I've just been a big fan of superchargers, you also don't lose some of the raw exhaust sound. I completely understand the benefit of turbos though, driven many myself.

    • @desertfox2020
      @desertfox2020 9 лет назад +26

      Turbos not robbing any power is a myth that I wish people would stop perpetuating. Until they fully spool, they are a massive exhaust restriction. Granted, once spinning, they more than make up for the restriction they caused, but a supercharger also more than counteracts it's parasitic drain as well.

    • @bryankendall7068
      @bryankendall7068 9 лет назад +34

      Turbos lag. It's just the way they work. It's not much but it's still there. And this is coming from somebody who drives a 335i with the "lag free" N54.

    The Challenger Hellcat is brutally fast GT car that can fit 5 adults comfortably. It's larger than the M6 and slightly smaller than the CL/S coupe, yet I don't hear anyone complaining about those cars' lackluster laptimes. That being said, it still handles confidently and predictably for a large coupe as Justin Bell demonstrates at Big Willow in the Hellcat Unleashed video. It also makes 830 crank hp/706 rwhp with just a tune.

      track features mostly means stiffer suspension and heavy steering plus quick brutal shift. so it totally fine and yes its more of drag car but drag racing don't know what all this means!
      the thing is you complained about track mode and didn't even mention that ECO mode!! what were they thinking lol.

    So...I hope I can ask this, or am I too late?
    You've driven the SRT 392 and now the Hellcat, yet your review never discusses the dynamic differences. How much different does the Hellcat feel off the line? How much faster does the Hellcat feel from 60 MPH? I know both are crazy fast, but I think the differences in performance would interest a LOT of people. The SRT 392 has a few advantages, but the 200+ HP advantage is big, so what were your impressions???
    FANTASTIC review! Better than C&D or R&T again.

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  9 лет назад +4

      Robert Brody Thanks buddy! The Hellcat is faster, no doubt about it, but it doesn't feel a whole lot different from the 392 in normal driving around town. Driving them on the track will really be able to answer your questions, but sadly I don't have an avenue for that :/ At speed, the hellcat has a lot more pulling power, I was barely able to really get it going on public roads, have to remember safety. The challenger rides a bit stiffer than the charger, but at the end of day I thought they were comparable. The Challenger feels like an old school muscle car with modern tech.

    • @robertbrody4032
      @robertbrody4032 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Thanks for the response. I have a Charger SRT 392 coming in about a week. After driving the SRT 392 Challenger and SP versions, I really felt that it was insane power already. I also figured the SRT 392 was a better cruiser because it's quieter and may also have a tiny edge in handling. I still may get a Hellcat in a year, but I don't know if the extra power would get any use in real world driving, as you point out.
      These cars really stand out from the crowd, have unusual practicality and crazy power. I test drove the M5 and I actually had more fun with the SRT 392! It simply felt more visceral. Now if they can just give me an AWD SRT 392 I won't even want a Hellcat.
      Again, thanks for a great video. It's VERY well done. I wish other reviewers were half as thorough.

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  9 лет назад +1

      Robert Brody I really appreciate that! If I were putting down the money, I'd take the 392 I had, same color scheme probably. While cool, you won't get to use that extra power on city streets. The 392 is just an all around great package. Enjoy!

    • @robertbrody4032
      @robertbrody4032 9 лет назад +2

    Never would I buy this car with an automatic. I don't think I could feel comfortable giving full throttle to this 700+ horsepower, rear-wheel drive, supercharged muscle car literally called the Hellcat with a computer shifting the gears. That, and I just don't care for automatics to begin with. I know there are paddle shifters but that still is not the same. Great car, love it, but an automatic is an absolute no from me no matter how advanced it is. It sounds like an accident waiting to happen just saying it. It's absolutely critical that they offer a manual transmission, and I'm very glad they do.

    Italian cars are good looking,flamboyant and quick.German cars are reliable,precise and well made.French cars are stylish and comfortable.Swedish are by-word for safety.Japanese cars are hard working(big milage) and are precise as well. .......
    American cars are fat,cheap,not very maneuverable,unintelligent...

Europe is a place of culture and intelligent design while the USA are an embarrassment to design and arts that the British are happy to have left.

    It looks like this Hellcat has a smooth ride. Is the suspension stiff to where it will beat up the occupants on a bumpy road? Is this Hellcat comfortable riding and good for long trips or would the SXT be better for that?

    • @floridamaddogg
      @floridamaddogg 6 лет назад

      The suspension in street mode is quite comfortable. Long trips would not be an issue as I travel 1200 mile one way trips to visit family. The track mode is noticeably stiff, so the different modes really do change the cars characteristics. This car in street mode is way more comfortable than both the evos I've owned and a BMW M2 I had, but that's not great comparisons compared to those ultra stiff cars, but you'll be comfortable in this car.
