    Just a heads-up for those of you who doubt that this car can handle. It posted the exact same time as the Alfa Romeo 4C on Motor Trend's figure eight course-24.7 seconds. I think that's quite impressive.
    For me, the Hellcat is just about the perfect true GT-very comfortable in normal driving, real back seats, a very large trunk, good gas mileage for a performance car, tremendous acceleration, and very good handling. Add-in great looks and the $60,000 price, and it's very hard to beat. It's the complete package. I'll take mine in black, please.

      Eh im geting sick of the HP races, the power is becoming more and more useless. At least dodge got alot of the aspects right to use the power unlike ford with the GT500
      Now with the 2015 ford is releasing a 500hp GT350 to compete with the Z28 and rumored 750 HP GT500 comeback.. more excited for the GT350 tbh

    My first car was a 1965 4-door Dodge Coronet with a 225 slant six. I became a loyal Chrysler fan and owned or driven many of their products, muscle cars included. It's great to see the heritage of the muscle car revived. Enjoyed the video. Thanks and God bless all.

      Did you watch the other motor trend test video, they dyno it and it's making way more than advertised. It put 671hp to the tire...so about 750+hp at the crank.

    For almost a decade i loved the 1970 Challenger, it's just the perfect car in my eyes. V8, all about the engine - and the gorgeous shape. I really love it. But when they revealed the Hellcat, i think i love it just as much. It's not about the power. I wouldn't care if it had 600, 500 or just 350hp. As long as it still has this perfect shape. The new car looks better than the older models that i always thought looked a bit plump. It's perfect now. And the 707hp engine is one fine thing, especially as i love superchargers. I was basically addicted to the supersnake compressor sound. Now it's the same, but with the Challenger.
    I hope i can buy one in the next 5-6 years. Should be possible, saving on other stuff. I just love this car.

  • @foolongtea
    @foolongtea 10 лет назад +1

    All I gotta say is congratulations Dodge, you've finally built a proper Challenger. This new hellcat version is just the cherry on top. I can't stop staring at this car, such a gorgeous looking car. The big stance and presence, the compliant and comfortable ride, and now this absurd amount of power. Well done to the team that created this masterpiece (coming from a diehard GM guy).

    I reckon this is Justin's best review from the entire series. There is a certain fluidity that hooks you on, that some previous episodes failed to achieve. Well done Justin.
    And as for Chrysler, make it in RHD and bring it to Australia you sickos.

  • @johnnysokko6533

    At $60,000 dollars, this car is a steal. You get a 5 passenger car with a usable back seat, 20mpg, and 707 hp with a manual transmission. There is nothing else in that price range right now to compete with it.

    • @jeffjenine
      @jeffjenine 10 лет назад

      OMG! Those are the stats? Im ready to trade my Infinity Q45 in for this car. Bad car!!! My Q is 340hp/333 lb ft torque 4.5 L V-8. It gets me on average 16.4 mpg. The Dodge is faster, more hp, same price and better gas mileage!

    Car is out of control in a good way. It's over-the-top and brash. Just appreciate the car, ignore who makes it. When a company does something right, just let it be. The world is big enough for everyone, even Chrysler.

  • @RichardFeynmanRules
    @RichardFeynmanRules 10 лет назад

    Gignormous HP and acceleration aside, what I think what most impressed me about this amazing car was the seeing how it handled at the track and watching it take corners with such grace and balance for such a heavy car. Dodge really got their act together with this beast. It will be fun to see some head-to-head comparos with the Camaro ZL1 and the Shelby GT500.

      It'll still weigh 4,000 lbs. But 671 at the wheels is more than a Corvette ZR1, and as shown by the Gen 5 ZL1, a 4,000 pound car can still do well on a racetrack. They can strip it out, and make the Z/28 of Challengers. I will love to see people stop saying that it's a boat that doesn't handle.

  • @spartus09

    Hell of a review. The Hellcat is a breath of fresh air in this age of small displacement, turbocharged performance. That being said, I think the the '15 SRT 392 would be my choice as the perfect driving car. 485hp and a 6 speed manual is more than enough to keep me satisfied.

  • @alanthesalamander2327
    @alanthesalamander2327 10 лет назад +6

    I will take a Ford Mustang GT over this car any day. Sure, if both cars are stock then Hellcat will be much faster than the Mustang but it's also twice as expensive. Throw in 10k for a nice twin turbo from Hellion and the Mustang will be running 11.2 1/4 mile on a bad day with stock everything else. Even with the Twin Turbo, you still have around 20k that you can spend on this car or elsewhere. Unless you really like the look of this car and money is not an issue, then I don't see why you wouldn't just get the 5.0 and tune it to your liking. Like if you agree :)

    • @bogfrogonpot
      @bogfrogonpot 10 лет назад +16

      because everyone gets mustangs. its just not special anymore like the way seeing a z28 or a hellcat on the road would be. plus the supercharger is on warranty. if you mod a mustang and you still make payments, there goes your warranty.

    Not hating, it's a very fast car but I saw a whole lot of oversteer, and I feel like it's gonna be another nissan gtr, everyone is gonna love it and start comparing to supercars and say why would you pay 200k+ for a supercar when you can pay 60k and get a challenger but it's whatever it's still a fast car

    There is no use for the red and black key. Which owner in his right mind would drive around with 200 less horsepower than what they paid for?

    • @WilliamCWayne
      @WilliamCWayne 10 лет назад +1

      A married one (black key for the wife)
      The children can take the red key...after I lock the car into valet mode.

    • @sik59rt
      @sik59rt 10 лет назад +3

      It's for a valet

    • @VenomousGarage
      @VenomousGarage 10 лет назад

      sik59rt There is no way I would want a valet to have access to the black key's 500 hp...or my wife for that matter. if there is a valet mode, it should be limited to 30mph and 2500rpm.

    • @WilliamCWayne
      @WilliamCWayne 10 лет назад +1

      sik59rt No, the black key is not a valet key. I've seen that written in a few articles, but it's flat out wrong.
      The valet mode is engaged with the touchscreen after creating a 4-digit PIN, forces 2nd gear starts, rev limits to 4000 and prevents disabling of the traction control. It's also supposed to limit engine output further, but I haven't seen if it's 'just' to 500hp like the black key, or if it's much more than that. This mode can be enabled regardless of which key is in use.

    From looking at another video on this car its less impressive than all the hype its been given. Does 0-60 in about 4.8 maybe 4.6 if your lucky. For 700 hp thats not that great. Seems like its weight is its main issue.

    Everybody says the Hellcat can run 10.8 drag radials, when a 2013 GT500 with drag radials is also capable of running 10.7-10.8. That Challenger is awesome but overhyped. EDIT: LOL IT DOESN'T TOP 200 mph!!! 199 mph, GT500 does 202 mph, and it's been proven to. Most likely the weight factors in with the top speed.

    • @robertbrody4032
      @robertbrody4032 10 лет назад +1

      Sounds like you need to actually drive some cars. I've driven the GT500. Great car, but cramped and harsh ride with no back seats for adults. Meanwhile the Hellcat has room for 4 or 5 and tons of room without the harshness. And it is LIMITED to 199. It can go faster. These cars are about having choices. I have a family and the Hellcat is the 1st muscle-car that makes sense.

    Unless you're a race car driver, no point owning this. I have an rt get pulled over going 14 over. You can't play much in these cars. Ticket magnets. I also have a camaro and mustang. Challenger doesn't handle corners as good as the other 2. Challenger is the most comfortable to drive though and I like the design the best. It's a fun car but it's not perfect.

    I love the look of the Challenger, I loved the 392, but at 470hp it couldn't put it to the pavement. It ran the same times as the Camaro SS(4.7 0-60, 13.0 1/4), and the Mustang 5.0 beat both(4.3 0-60, 12.7 1/4) and it cost a LOT more. Now it's taken them years to catch up, they literally said we need to dethrone the GT500 because fuck Carrol Shelby's legacy, and they copied the Mustang Boss track key. They're so far behind it's pathetic, look at Mustang and Camaro they're both focusing on NA track versions with around 500hp because that's the sweet spot and the future of American Muscle. Dodge only did this because they wanted the title "Most powerful production V8 in the world" the new Viper was a disgrace that got beat by the out going ZR1, SRT publicly cried and screamed and had to come out with the TA. The C7 smokes the Viper all day, and watch the C7 Z06 Set such a platform SRT can never catch up. We may see the death of SRT....
