Don't forget that when a flying creature falls prone they fall from the sky.

Hey guys, make sure to set the video quality up higher if the text is fuzzy and you want to read along, also here are the
Timestamps for the spells covered in this video:
    Sapping Sting (Cantrip) --------- 1:33
    Fortune's Favor (2nd level) ---- 3:48
    Wristpocket (2nd Level) -------- 6:11

    Tether Essence (7th Level) -- 11:40
What are your thoughts on the new Dunamancy spells? Thanks for watching!

Actually I think the way Matt said it’s meant that both subclasses can use either or, it’s just the asterisks show what “school” that are in, as a chronurgist or a graviturgist you get immediate access to all Dunamancy spells

On DNDBEYOND, the spells are tagged as general “dunamancy,” “chronurgy,” and “graviturgy.” When filtering spells available to classes and subclasses, only the specific spells show up as available to the specific subclass (unless it is the general dunamancy which shows available to both). The spells are also tagged in the book as specifically chronurgy or graviturgy magic. This leads us to believe that the spells are balanced as being available to each respective subclass though in the end the book specifies that the DM can reward any dunamancy spell to any caster as he sees fit. Thematically, graviturgy spells make sense for a graviturgy magic wizard and vice versa with chronurgy spells. Matt said a couple times too that stuff was revised by the balance team before it became “official.” Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!

Tether essence: link up two badies and throw a fireball in the middle of then = double dmg

Wristpocket is very niche but it's good for infiltration. If you need to go into a guarded area you could hide the Rogues dagger so they can have a weapon on the other side or you could hide your spell casting focus to use once you get past the guards. Again, niche, but it has its perks.

Also, in case you are running around in an area that's guarded, but you need to retrieve an object from there (key, deed of ownership scroll, letter, etc) you can just wander out without a problem, even being searched / fleeced by the guards won't matter.

Does Fortunes Favor consume the pearl? i thought it was a one time cost that doesnt get consumed

    • @URGE

It does say that the pearl is consumed when cast. Now If you upcast it above 2nd level, I believe it is still just the one pearl for multiple targets. If you check the video and can play it on HD, you should be able to read it as well since the screen is directly from dndbeyond with the exact wording. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

@@URGE Thank you. I am going to buy the book soon but havent done so yet.

There’s a lot of cool stuff in it! In critical role, it just requires the pearl, but Matt Mercer said the D&D balance team changed some of the spells from the show’s homebrew origins. Enjoy the book!

I wouldn’t be against one of my players running an aberrant mind sorcerer with these, or maybe possibly a great old one warlock. It’s have to be earned but thematically they kinda work

Also wristpocket definitely can be a game changer if your party is trying to obtain a sensitive item. All you gotta do is get your wizard to it and it’s in another dimension. Protect their concentration and your good

I gotta respectfully disagree with you guys on Sapping Sting. Its got a range of 30 ft so it wont even hit many flyers and no caster should be within 30 ft of anything.
    And a Con save for a d4?
I see what you’re saying about setting up your melee fighters but hard pass.
