Pyrex Glass Measuring Cup Set (3 Piece)
    amzn.to/3QFfBoI
Lodge Cast Iron Loaf Pan 8.5x4.5in
    amzn.to/3QHSzh9
    KitchenAid 7-Speed Hand Mixer
    amzn.to/3yoXhdb
    ----------------------------------------
    RECIPE
    ----------------------------------------
    Ingredients
    3 very ripe bananas, (medium/large)
½ cup unsalted butter, (8 Tbsp) at room temperature
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
    2 large eggs, lightly beaten
    1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    ½ tsp salt
    ½ tsp vanilla extract
    1 cup walnuts
    ½ cup raisins
    Servings: 10 people
    Instructions
    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a bread loaf pan (9.25 long x 5.25 wide x 2.75 deep). Lightly roast walnuts on a skillet, continuously stirring so they won’t burn. Coarsely chop and cool to room temperature.
    2. In a mixing bowl, cream together 8 Tbsp softened butter and 3/4 cup sugar (or honey if using honey).
    3. Mash bananas with a fork until the consistency of chunky applesauce and add them to the batter along with 2 eggs, mixing until blended.
    4. In a separate bowl, whisk together: 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of salt then add to batter.
    5. Add 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and mix in chopped walnuts and raisins. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake at 350˚F for 55-60 min or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let banana bread rest for 10-20 min before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

    Hey Jeremy!
I have been baking banana bread for years-because i love eating banana bread. I have an ingredient that I use that you did not. I cut back on the fluid a bit and add a 1.5oz shot of Yukon Jack. It adds a bit of citrus to the mix that I really love and so do most people who try it. Enjoyed the video-especially the splat onto the counter! LOL! you should probably insure Jamie eats it also so unilateral expansion does not occur.

Hello Guildbrook farm family! You made the Banana bread two ways! SO DID I! but it wasn't intentional! After watching your video I pulled all my ingredients out of the cupboards and as with any Cake, cookies, or in this case bread, I separated the Dry and Wet ingredients... HOWEVER, Big mistake first time around> As I was putting the loaf in the Oven I noticed the sugar still setting on the counter, most everything else was already put away! I was like "OH WELL" those bananas were super ripe and I decided to lightly sugar the top! The Aroma was Magnificent! My husband who has been faithfully cutting back on sugar had a slice every day with his coffee and LOVED IT! So Second try today: All ingredients went in... Pecans instead of Walnuts and dried cherries in place of Raisins... Otherwise the same.... I used Parchment paper to line my loaf pan so it will lift right out... There's my story... Thanks again for always being inspiring on this channel!! Health, Happiness, and Long life!!

Jeremy, I enjoy everything you post. This baking thing is something I can get behind if you do more of it!
Baking soda is a single ingredient, sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). When mixed with an acidic ingredient, such as buttermilk or yogurt, baking soda releases carbon dioxide gas, causing baked goods to rise.
Baking soda is often used in recipes that include an acidic ingredient, as it reacts with the acid to produce the desired leavening effect. Baking powder is a mixture of baking soda and an acid (usually cream of tartar) that is designed to release gas more slowly over time.
It is a combination of sodium bicarbonate, an acid (usually cream of tartar), and an inert starch (usually cornstarch).
When baking powder is mixed with a liquid, the acid and base react to produce carbon dioxide gas, causing baked goods to rise.
Baking powder is often used in recipes that do not include an acidic ingredient, as it contains its own acid component.

I eventually read an article that explained exactly that and it makes perfect sense. So now we are bakers! Lolololol 😂 Seriously though baking is a science and cooking is an art. I’m used to “eyeballing” ingredients not measuring. Can’t get away with those shenanigans when baking. Measure it out. I’ve learned my lesson. And it’s been a fun experience.

I love a good banana bread and will definitely try this recipe! Seeing a clear comparison between baking powder and baking soda was helpful to me. I've always wondered if they are interchangeable, and if so, what would be the effect on what I was baking. Great job, Jeremy. I also had a good chuckle when the oven timer was set for 1 minute instead of 1 hour because I do that all the time and then wonder why the timer went off so soon. 😊

I have loved watching your channel since I stumbled across the first video about Backyard Chickens, it got me trying something again that kept me somewhat saner during the "lockdowns" Actually with chickens I didn't feel so restricted for some reason... I also started cooking more and doing more "projects" around the house... THANK YOU! Love this video as well... Keep them coming! I do miss the "Dirt" videos.

Heres a trick for you... When you are going to flour your pans I use pans that are a little smaller than yours. My recipe makes two loaves. After you grease the pans put flour in one pan, then put the other pan on top of it and shake it all around and you will have two floured pans.

I would suggest calling your local Extension Office. Also check out the national preservation guidelines for canning soups. I think Jamie actually did a video many years ago on different style of soups and stews.
