Been with you guys since before you sold the house where you started, doing prepping, chicken raising, goats... then i will never forget the drive into that silly trailer at the new property, what a beauty that was!! I'm sad to see Jamie left for the most part but I'm happy she's doing what makes her happy. Jeremy you have done an awesome job on everything you've touched there, and I'm so happy for you guys too be in the house and adding your flavor to it! Smiles and blessings... and please tell Jamie we miss her!
I remember telling you when you were having all that trouble in the little trailer that soon it would be a distant memory and you'd be sitting on your new front porch sipping a beverage and watching the sunset. It's here and I'm happy for you! ~Cynthia
Solar panels would come in handy as a back-up system for the house or workshop. Thanks for all the memories, from the house in the city through moving through building the new house. It's been great living vicariously since some of us are unable to do that kind of thing anymore.
What a trip down memory lane going back to where it all started! As I'm writing this, I immediately thought of the time you had frozen pipes and frozen pines leaning WAY over and threatening to snap and fall onto the trailer home. You put a lot of time and effort into that solar system. I learned a TON! Thanks Jeremy!!!
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it's been 5 years! I started watching y'all almost 6 years ago when we moved from Florida to the north GA mountains and began our dream to have a small homestead. That was right before y'all realized you had to move. I still remember that video telling us you had to get rid of ALL of your animals. I was so sad for you...but NOW look at where you are! What a journey! And we've been on a similar one - though definitely different from y'all. This video just hit me as how fast time flies.
This is just very special, Jeremy. Thank you for taking us around with you here. I think I, for one, definitely needed some closure on that era. A lot of memories, for sure.
This video was both sad and wonderful. Sad because of change and wonderful because of change. I have often thought of hubby and I going off grid. He passed before the dream became reality. Thanks for letting me e see what I missed out on.
Whoa, time moves by. I start watching & subbed after watching the pantry and canning videos. Actually I started canning shortly thereafter and here we are 5 years later.
Man, I remember when y'all moved in there. I was surprised myself that you guys did that. It was a sacrifice for sure. But, you made the best of it. The scarest thing was the ice storm. We have them here and also have big giant trees. Luckily for us, they are only on one side of the house. Hearing all the creeking and popping in the night is NOT fun. I miss the chickens though. Are you planning to get more in the future?? Your house is stunning.
I think the wood unless rotting is still usable. Just make a different shape of an end table where you have to. 😉 You could totally use that propane heater in your future shop too. Or, if y'all ever build a greenhouse, it would come in super handy for the coldest parts of the year so y'all could grow food year round. That was such a nostalgic walk through of the old house. I remember when y'all were dealing with the gunky water when you were first there. Y'all have come a long way since then. Thanks for taking us along on this portion of the journey.
You have come along way through the years and appreciate having been a part of that journey. You channel actually helped me get back into canning. Thanks for the memories...
Nice to see another video of the farmstead. It’s amazing how much work you both have done to your property. So happy for both of you as you enjoy your new home.
Looking back are you guys happy with the new property and lifestyle verses the old neighborhood homestead? I rewatched many of the old videos and also like to see how the new house is coming along.
Glad you are doing well. There have been a lot of changes and hardships over the years. But I remember a lot of good times and hope for the future y'all had along the way. Now sit back and enjoy it for a while before you embark on your next adventure.
Congratulations my friend. You should be proud of yourself and entire family. Also thank you for providing some positive content for me to watch in the morning that makes me feel good about life.
What a trip down memory lane! I've been wondering if you're still breathing. I am very curious ... do you still have intent on being more self sufficient and prepared? Perhaps those solar panels should be utilized as back up to the 'grid' power in case it goes down? I know a few people installing Tesla walls for back up .. hmmm don't really know how good that would be for long term. Anyway, hoping to see more of you Jeremy & Jamie. Thanks so much for posting!
I find mor and more homesteaders leaving solar behind and returning to the grid. What was your reason for returning to the grid. Asking because I'm just about to venture into an off-grid setup.. but seeing all these videos, I'm starting to reconsider the choice.
Just a few comments/ideas: 1. Are you not going to supplement your grid power with solar? 2. Perhaps use the solar for your shop? 3. Could you use the old trailer as your shop? (rip out walls, open up one end, etc.) 4. Where is everyone else? Nice update. Good luck!
Bittersweet! I was so relieved when you guys got your final inspection. Our shop is about to get its final occupancy and about to break ground on the house. Thankfully, we've had a more comfortable living situation but it never, ever, ever goes as fast as you think as it will. I have friends who just built a nice-looking freestanding array out of four by fours...might be a decent option to get those working on your house. Use it!!!!
No shame there, bigger house causes bigger problems and more stress and headaches, more taxes, more to maintain, more to insure, more to worry about. And bigger target for SHTF when it comes. If youre happy in a small place, then that is all that matters.
@@anandrew6641 Where I live would be considered the mid level of suburbia. I lived in the city and moved out when the area changed and became much worse. I like the old days of living in that house but like the safety of my current location. That being said that trailer out in the country to me would be the perfect next stop.
I know it must have been tough living there for 5 years a family with 2 kids, im looking for property in ashe or watauga county in North Carolina have to find land, I'm looking for empty land but I'm trying to figure out what to do once I move on the land I don't know if I want to go that route with a trailer like that until I build a cabin. I might just put a travel trailer since it's just me but that must have been tough the 4 of you living in that place
Man 5yrs it's hard to believe I rem when you all lived in your home with your critters lol and that trailer which I live in one was in it's one way a GOD send times were very hard for you guys but you rolled with it man it all was sweat time late hrs problems after problems laughs trying hard to save improve things worries only you two shared planning all going wrong at times doing over new strategies still looking up that hill dreaming iv watched you all now look at where you are isn't GOD sometimes our dreams really do come it's all paid off I'm sooooooohappy guys mine is being built in heaven lol so I'm saving alot lol I'm here waiting
Hi I am interested in your solar panel system .. I am off grid in Oklahoma & need a system fast so that I can have a fridge & air conditioner in my 16 x 40 shed to home
Like the frames, is that Jamies art on the wall? wolf? Tell her if she hasn't gotten herself a digital canner, its worth every penny, can't believe how much easier it is to use, Put up a ton of meat for summer to keep that AC bill down in summer. ZenHugs all round hope all is well!
P.S. Its pretty much a given that the weather is only going to get more severe: more storms, more snow, more rain, etc. Having backup power in the form of your solar array and batteries is Not something I would consider giving up - especially since you are basically in the middle of nowhere and at the bottom of the list for the utility company to restore power to.

What happened to Jamie?
Hard to believe I've been following this channel over 5 years, back at the other property.
time has gone by fast
Same here!
Also, me😊
I stopped watching once the new building was started. I miss the old simple videos 😢

❤️😊
You could fill the cracks of the wood cookies with colored resin. What great tables that'd make!
They would make great tables to set your drinks on when your watching that sunset..definately a great memory to keep to around

You have been there, done that, and now you have a beautiful home with a gorgeous porch to enjoy the views, the sunrise and sunsets. You deserve it 😊

Wow! That was a throwback in time! Great to see how far y’all have come! ❤
Been missing the channel. So good to see y’all back

I wouldn’t stay in it lol

Howdy, we missed y’all!! Love ❤️ the pic’s!!
Is there a good go to resource to navigate building codes here in Wilkes county?
YOUR STANDING IN YOUR NEW SHOP JUST A THOUGHT
Just not big enough or laid out right.
I so love your videos. Could you coat the wood cookies in epoxy and make tables out of them? Just a thought.

Why not convert the trailer into your shop?
Way too small
I ll drink an IPA to that.

It does feel like forever ago!
I started watching when you all had some problems with your neighbor about your goats that is one of the reasons you moved time fly
I did too. 😊
Aloha 🌺🥰
You should leave it there and air b&b it.
❤
I’m surprised there were no spiderwebs everywhere 😂
So was I
🧡
Id use it yourself on the house
In-law suite lol.
❤😊👍
Why have you abandoned solar power? Is utility power so cheap and reliable that you'll never look back on renewables?
That system is way too small for the new big house, you need to 5x or maybe even 10x the system to run the house.
🧡
