- Over the course of 4 years, I hand-forged a Munich-style zweiahnder/greatsword from a huge leaf spring. The completed sword came out to be 5ft, 8in long and weighed 14 lbs.

thanks for this video, very inspiring
Beutifull thing! your projects always have a very rustic design, wich i like. The decorations on the handle and leather realy make it stick out!! Great work man!!!
Thank you!
Phil if you have not already i would round the inside of the corners where you put the lugs so they dont end up causeing a stress riser at that thin part of a blade. Very nice work though and I can't believe this video only got 77 likes so far at the time I am seeing it.
Great work as always, sir! I really dig the long format build videos!
Thanks Ben!
He's back boiiiiis
Great work,Im amazed how most of your equipment is inexpsensive and improvised, only expensive tool you might have is the belt grinder.I was trying to figure out your Anvil.I find it inspireing that you dont need 1000's of dollars to start forging
Thanks! The anvil is machine shop scrap of unknown steel
good video.
God of swords.
Awesome build man. Just want to say you are one of the first channels I started watching whenever I got into blacksmithing. Now years later here I am working the forge full time. Thanks for the inspiration! 💪🏻 if you ever make it down to blade show in Atlanta we definitely gotta hang
Thanks bro! I've got to say I've learned so much from your channel, and its been awesome to see you thrive as a blacksmith. I promise you you'll be top of the list of ppl I hit up if I ever make it to Blade Show!
Awesome
Was wondering when we were going to get another video from ya. Look forward to seeing the testing on this Goliath
Thanks dude, I know it's been a while. I got more videos coming 🤙
love it
Great build, was the sword heat treated ?
Yup, oil quenched and then torch tempered.
Epic

Sir Phil Buamhardt, Can you Forging Irish ring hilt sword, That Sword very awesome and difficult to make ring pommel and S guard, No one Blacksmith finish Irish ring hilt sword, Please make forging Irish ring hilt sword video, I have waiting for your new Irish ring hilt sword video show.
And that can you forging Japanese fuller Katana, That Japanese Katana is cool and razor sharp, But difficult to make guard, habaki, handle, Please make forging Japanese fuller Katana video, I have waiting for your new video.
I usually make videos of the custom orders I get, so it might be a while beforeI do those types of blades. I know Old Hickory Forge has a Irish ring sword in the works tho
yes, yes yes finely it has been a long-time sin you posted.
It was a really nice piece, but 14 lbs is way to heavy for a greatsword, they usally are at max out at 6 to 8 lbs for a usable weapon.
Fantastic 🤩🤩🤩👌🙏
Awesome sword! And welcome back! Long time no see, I harvested my big old leafspring 8 years ago for this zweihander project but never got to it yet. It's from a mercedes tractor 14mm thick and good 80mm wide so I figured cutting it lenght wise and go from there
Yeah good plan, that should hopefully avoid the weight issue I have with mine
@@PhilBaumhardt I hope so too
