Christine, we enjoy your teaching videos, but the quarterly report video brings it all together. Please continue. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents. I especially like the detail of your videos. God bless 😊
Those snuggly bags look so cute, like a mini duffle bag. A well deserved winner! Please keep making these updates it's both interesting and useful information.
I love the quarterly updates. I find it interesting what sells and what doesn’t sell, coupled with what you actually like to make. Ands whilst I love the shopping bag…those little boxy bags are so versatile and can just about suit everyone in some way. And bonus….you can make less and make more money which is awesome. Can’t wait till next quarter to see if the momentum continues…fingers crossed it does 🤞
Your top two are fantastic price. I've just looked up the exchange rate. I would be purchasing quite a few but it's the postage that hurts it. Always find these 3 monthly catch up very interesting. I didn't realise you had a website, shall have to have a look😃🤗🇬🇧
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I do love seeing your sales totals. It gives me encouragement so when I start doing this full time this summer. Thank you for sharing your talents.
All your videos combined with this video are a really good look into what can be done and how to do it. I don't think you should change your format at all. Keep these videos unless it's a strain on you. Love all the videos. I have not been commenting much cause I moved. Setting up a new smaller work area. Dealing with misplacing things in the move and still can't find them. Don't even have my spring all seasons tree up. It's a work in progress.❤❤❤
Thanks Marie. It's no strain at all, it's the best way for me to know how my business is going.'Have fun setting up your new sewing space. It's always nice to setup from scratch😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I mention the strain because RUclips and Facebook have been changing how creators create. Which worries me it will push my favorite creators away.
Hi, yes, keep making these videos. For someone just starting a sewing business, they are great. A question: I'm struggling with pricing because I am not sure what to pay myself. I think that since I'm just beginning, it's ok if I just pay myself little or nothing (I do price my items to cover materials and make 1-3 extra dollars (US). What do you think? Maybe you could start a series of videos for business owners on your experience:)
I think comparison of profit would be more meaningful/interesting - at least subtract your cost of materials. Your labor an important component as well, assuming that is roughly the same for everyone, the “net profit “ would be be useful.
These quarterly reports are a great reminder of the importance to track sales data and to complete careful marketing. Also are very encouraging to hear about your success! I hope you will continue them. Congratulations on such a great quarter!
Hi Christine. Recently my husband and I went on a trip and I needed some shoe bags. I had been using plastic bags, but found them unacceptable as the size was always wrong and I tended not to save them after my trips - a waste. So, I used your pattern and quickly sewed three of them. I used my ugliest fabric (I’m kind of a fabric hoarder) and I just loved them. I made them all the same size and the one for my husband’s shoes was a bit tight, but worked. They were quick and easy to make following your instructions. I plan on storing my shoes in them so I will need to make some more. You can hang them from hooks, the bags are breathable and they are ready for travel. One problem with that idea is that I can’t tell which shoes and in which bags. I need a tag. Do you have any ideas for a scrap buster bag/luggage tag with some of your clear vinyl? Thanks for your inspiration and clear and easy to follow instructions. Reba (Arizona)
Hi Reba, Brandi's idea of the clear window is what I would have suggested. I may even get to another video one of these days. For the longer shoes, you can just add a little extra to the length of the bag😀
You motivate me! My son owns a furniture store, so I can get a lot of those upholstery samples. I enjoy making things to donate to our local senior citizen gift shop. You are giving me great ideas for using these samples! Thank you for what you do. You really are a good teacher.
Thanks Christine for this wonderful video and information! Please continue doing what you're doing! Your tutorials and knowledge is so important and useful for your followers. We all greatly appreciate everything you do! ❤
I just saw your post! ❤ Thank you for sharing. Who do you sell through other than Facebook? I knit and crochet. Would love to be able to sell some of my items. Thank you and have a wonderful day.❤
Hello. I really really love the large square duffel bag you make. Did you make that pattern up yourself? I’ve been trying to find a pattern or make one, but they don’t ever look as good as the one you made
Thanks Alice. Yes, I made it up from the fabric piece I had available at the time, but there are many of the same pattern around. Just in varying sizes and fabrics😁
Hi Christine! I have just found your channel today, I've watched 3 videos already, and I absolutely love this recap of the quarter! Thank you for sharing all of this, I'm inspired to get back to sewing, and would love to sell some products. Your work is beautiful. Thank you!
I truly love your "straight to the point" videos! I, too, have decided not to make anymore Helping Hands even though people do like & buy them - just too hard on these 76yo hands for what I can sell them for. And, yes, I also have a LOT of cd's I need to repurpose since I scored about 75 for $5 at a yard sale! I do a few craft shows & your quarterly top 10 reports are helpful to me even though I'm in the US. And I love the projects you post & especially the ones you do production-style since I like to save as much time as I can making things for my shows. Thank you for your generosity!
I enjoy seeing what sells best for you. I love those big bags you make especially the soft corduroy ones. I’d use them as an ordinary handbag to be honest. I do tend to carry everything including the kitchen sink lol. 😉👍👍
Those corduroy bags, are so nice. They look so soft. I can't really explain WHY, I am so fond of them, being what they are (Not that it's a bad thing). I think they would be really nice as a smushy pillow, or one of the neck rings for sleeping while sitting up. Keep up the quarterly, it's encouraging me to get up and sew. 😉
I loved seeing the items you've made. I especially like the corderoy bags. I've dabbled with making some bags but I always make a mistake and I'm not happy with them. The blouse you have on is lovely. I have some fabric like that and I'm planning on copying your blouse!
Christine - It's always good to see your 1/4 sales total and well done on your #1 new product - I love that pale blue corduroy bag - no wonder it's your best seller 🥰
Your hair looks almost exactly like mine! I was excited to see yours, it looks so nice , neat and clean. Mine is waist length, but it’s very thin. I need the length to wrap around my thin pony tail so it’s thicker at the base. I struggle with in about cutting off some of the length, but I remember how I struggled with it when it was shorter. Thank you for posting! My granddaughters all need something to do to earn extra money. I’m going to put you on the big screen TV so we can all watch it together.
Christine, I’m glad to see you are working smarter, not harder, to make more sales. I don’t sew to sell, but I find your stats fascinating. I imagine the lessons you have learned and share are very helpful to others who are in the same business. Thank you.
Thanks Elaine. I've learned so much over these past few years about how to get the best value of my time, and what items are better to sell. It's always so fascinating to see the results😁
Hello Christine!! Glad that I stumbled upon one of your videos about stitching zippers to pouches and I got hooked on to your large n small handmade bags, totes, pouches etc. !! You are a wonderful seamstress and teacher !! Thanks for sharing your skills!!
The sales that you're quoting are at their Gross amounts. How about staing the amount of Net Profit instead? Why? Because if I sell something for $10, & it cost me $10 in time and materials, that means I made $0. Relevancy is important, yes?
Jordan, I've done this in many of my videos, but do occasionally forget. My fabric costs are free, my zips, strapping, label costs are very minimal, and I charge twice what I pay for them. I charge $45hr for my construction time, which includes a wage, taxes, fees, thread, power, maintenance, and so much more. As an example, my No.1 product cost me about $1.25 in purchased goods (zipper, handles, labels, the fabric was free). I sell the bags for $35 each, and can make about two an hour. So you can see there is a very small difference between Gross and Net profits. I do need to remember to provide the costs in my quarterly reports, but am usually too excited to share, and forget some details. When creating specific videos, I do usually tally the costs associated with the product. 😁
This is the first of your vids I have ever seen. I’m so glad RUclips read my mind and put you in my feed. Your content is just what I need right now with income slowing and always wanting to start a side hustle that I can do from home. Keep posting you never know who’s a new subscriber!❤
Very interesting video, but I am wondering how you came to your total figures. By any chance, did you deduct the cost of fabric, zippers, thread, etc. as well as your time for making these? Wonderful ideas!
I'm about to do another report for the last three months Cindy, so will try to make it a little more detailed. All the fabric I use is free to me, but I do charge processing time in my labour rate. I allow for taxes, thread, zips etc in my production costs😀
Hi Christine... Wonderful items... but as I was watching I thought how can you sell them at such a reasonable price... then I realized you run a business and get in big bulk which brings donw your cost... all that hardware and strapping alone is expensive as wellthe zippers, and interfacing.... I love to sew, and I do sell a few here and there, but for me I have to charge more just to break even... I'm delighted to have found your page, and now a subscriber.... Jon
Thank you Jon, and welcome to the channel. I'm fortunate that I don't have to charge for the fabric, as almost all of it was for free. I always pay it forward😀
Hello. This is the first video I have seen of yours. I am feeling so inspired to work with upholstery fabric! I will need to work on my confidence to ask 😉. Do your top two have lining inside? Love your work! Thank you for sharing. I wouldn’t even know how to price my own work.💗🧵🤗
Hi there mam,im watching all the way from capetown in south Africa, i really enjoy your watching your videos. I also make bags and pegbags and scatter cushions. And i really enjoy doing so. Gr8 work you are so talentd. Enjoy and well done. God bless.
I enjoyed the video and you. Very interesting to see what you charge and what the public is actually buying. Thank you for the information. Have a Blessed day.
Hi Christine, I don't make to sell, but it is interesting what you sell. It also gives a guide to what gifts would go down well, judging on what you've sold! (And one of the shoe bags came to me!)
Hi I'm new and I hope you might have an extra embroidery machine that you don't want or need and have the instructions I'm interested and inquiring about one can you help me Thank You Alma Tillis
Congratulations with your sales, much better to sell bigger items and sow less, but you have to use up scraps sometimes, like all of us. I love those soft corduroy bags, the fabric is lovely.i think those vinyl bags are going to do well. Please keep doing this ,I think it is interesting.
Love hearing how your sales are doing, yes please keep doing them. i do have a question, I noticed you have to additional tags on your items. What do they say? i know you have your personalized label attached on your garments. Thank you Christine
Thanks Barb. One of the tags is my Australian Made tag, the other tells about my business, and how I came about making these bags. There should be some images on the community tab😀
I wonder if you could make some used denim shoe bags or those small duffel bags? The charity shops have loads of denim at a good price. And how cute if you can use the obvious jeans details. It might take too much time though?
Good job Christine!! Yes! Keep making the videos. Also love hearing about products that you'll discontinue. Another benefit to making bigger items (besides bigger sale price) is you're using up more fabric! Win, win! Hugs from Nevada. Cathy❤
You forgot to deduct the cost of materials to make the items. Shoulder straps, zippers, magnetic clips. Not everyone has those in the top drawer for no cost.
Yes I do Pat. You'll find pics on my website stitchthis.com.au/ and I've done a couple of walkthrough videos too. Here's the latest. ruclips.net/video/e0iEKbsVEa8/видео.htmlsi=QR1OVaaDrPxJARZX
Welcome to the channel Betty. Yes, I have videos for all products shown in the video and hundreds more. In the description box of this video, you'll find links to video instructions for all items shown. 😀
I like your sales reports. It's odd what sells for you doesn't for me. But, what I sell the most of are odd things like bowl cozies and Amish Star hot pads. Every sale, I have 24 of each and they're gone before Noon. One woman mattes and frames the hot pads, and I swear, every man, woman, and child have at least 1 bowl cozy, and another at grandma's house...and I knit wash clothes/dish clothes, and the scraps from the skeins and a new scrubby product, I look knit scrubbies. Those go fast as well. When those are gone, the customers finally notice my jewelry. You would never guess how I decorate the cabochons. I use scraps of fabric, or nail polish. Then they finally notice my bags. 😂 I just keep moving things around. I know what catches their eye first. Oh yes! I make adjustable toddler aprons. My goodness, I made 6 for a fund raiser. They were finally seen. One little girl wore hers through the entire sale! Then, I sent a few to Church for our Christmas bizarre. Gone in 60 seconds. We have a lot of new grandmas 😊. I offered to show them how to make them... I usually use old denim jeans, but I had a bunch of heavy dish towels. I made regular aprons first. No interest. Children's aprons, everyone is going to have at least one for every toddler in the county, with bowl cozies. 😂❤
Love all of your videos! Thank you! I've been wondering if you'd ever consider showing us how to make Packing Cubes, of the compression variety with the zips that compress the clothing. I've just had to purchase some, but think you could do a better job ! Keep up the great videos!
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Oh great! I'll look forward to seeing that video. They're really useful. And yes, you can do it! Keep on makeing such great videos. X

Your prices seem really high: far more than I dare try in AR or how we priced items for a charity fundraiser. Lucky you!
These are Australian prices Mary. It'll look much cheaper when you do the conversion😀
I think comparison of profit would be more meaningful/interesting - at least subtract your cost of materials. Your labor an important component as well, assuming that is roughly the same for everyone, the “net profit “ would be be useful.
Thanks Mary. I have done this in some previous videos, and I usually let people know what my expenses are in the tutorials. 😀

You got it Karyn! Thank you😁
Thank you for the Komebekuro (sic) bag, tutorial, I made a very large one for my D.i.l, for her knitting and crochet yarns and equipment
That would make a lovely gift May. Thank you😀
Hi Christine, I don't make to sell, but it is interesting what you sell. It also gives a guide to what gifts would go down well, judging on what you've sold!
(And one of the shoe bags came to me!)
I'm so glad you've got one Rebecca😊
Hi I'm new and I hope you might have an extra embroidery machine that you don't want or need and have the instructions I'm interested and inquiring about one can you help me
Thank You
Alma Tillis
I don't have any Alma😀
Congratulations with your sales, much better to sell bigger items and sow less, but you have to use up scraps sometimes, like all of us. I love those soft corduroy bags, the fabric is lovely.i think those vinyl bags are going to do well. Please keep doing this ,I think it is interesting.
It sure is Eve. I like making bigger things, and I get to use up more fabric too😀
Thank you for sharing. When you mention 35 dollars, is this US dollars or what currency are you selking in? Please and thank you.
Debbie, I quote all my prices in Australian dollars. 😀
I love my hanging tea towels❤️🎉
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Abi😀
Yes please I love getting new ideas. Thank you. 🙏💜
Thanks Carolyn😀
New subscriber…I’m looking forward to trying some of your bags. I’ve already tried doing a cross body bag so this is very exciting.
Welcome to the channel Norma😁
I wonder if you could make some used denim shoe bags or those small duffel bags? The charity shops have loads of denim at a good price. And how cute if you can use the obvious jeans details. It might take too much time though?
As soon as I have some denim jeans to cut up, I'll be doing something with it😀
Thanks 👍
You're very welcome Bob😀
Good job Christine!! Yes! Keep making the videos. Also love hearing about products that you'll discontinue.
Another benefit to making bigger items (besides bigger sale price) is you're using up more fabric! Win, win!
Hugs from Nevada.
Cathy❤
You're right Cathy. I have so much fabric to use up. The bigger projects are certainly helping with that😀
Please keep posting your quarterly sales. I enjoy your success.
Thank you Cheryl. Will do!😁
You forgot to deduct the cost of materials to make the items. Shoulder straps, zippers, magnetic clips. Not everyone has those in the top drawer for no cost.
Thanks Lesley😀
Thanks for your information on products. I am thinking of making some things and selling at farmers markets. So this gives me some ideas.
Go for it! I hope it's a success for you Valerie😁
Super informative… great video, thank you. I’ve seen some of the ideas before, you gave me great ideas for presents.
You are so welcome Juju😁
That's ok I made your wristlet bag. Figured it out. Using a hello kitty material.
That's fun fabric😀
You really are the best I also make bags which I love doing ❤❤❤❤❤ do u have a pic of your shop ? Would love to see it ....
Yes I do Pat. You'll find pics on my website stitchthis.com.au/ and I've done a couple of walkthrough videos too. Here's the latest. ruclips.net/video/e0iEKbsVEa8/видео.htmlsi=QR1OVaaDrPxJARZX
Where do you get the scrap fabric? Did you ask an upholstery store for them?
Yes I did. I've done a few videos, including one about a week ago on sourcing free fabric😀
Hi, first time seeing your video. Very interesting! Are your sewing instructional videos on you tube?
Welcome to the channel Betty. Yes, I have videos for all products shown in the video and hundreds more.
In the description box of this video, you'll find links to video instructions for all items shown. 😀
Christine love your videos, love your quarterly reports, I learned so much, please continue, looking forward for more. ❤
Thanks Kathy. I will😀
I find your sales commentary very interesting. Thanks
Thank you so much Bonnie😁
Denim accessories are coming back in style. You should makes some bag with it.
I do Rosalind. I combine it with the upholstery fabric😀
Congratulations,, I also would buy the N 1 bag. It looks so cozy but I am way long away.
Thanks Corina. I do post all over the world. It's just quite costly for the postage😁
Thanks Sharon. It's fascinating how trends vary so much from one place to the next. I think it helps keep things interesting😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs But who frames Amish Star Hot Pads?! What a hoot 😅
I do enjoy watching your site all the way from Texas.
Thank you so much🙂
Love all of your videos! Thank you! I've been wondering if you'd ever consider showing us how to make Packing Cubes, of the compression variety with the zips that compress the clothing. I've just had to purchase some, but think you could do a better job ! Keep up the great videos!
Haha, thanks for the confidence. I actually have them on my list to do😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Oh great! I'll look forward to seeing that video. They're really useful. And yes, you can do it! Keep on makeing such great videos. X
