I find it so incredible that people that would without fame be considered “bottom of society” or outcasts, be extremely and incredibly intelligent and profound. In this case of course. It’s not everybody, but it goes for everyone considered this not just celebrities and such. Never judge a book by its cover and always treat people like human beings and with respect.
Yeah it's strange how that works isn't it? Like most people in bands/musicians if they never became successful would probably be looked down on, but because of their success they're instead revered. Even people who don't like their music still respect them. Funny how that works.
@@voteZDLR it's not funny, it's just that people like you - and there's a LOT of you; an overwhelming majority actually - mistake "respecting one's work" for "respecting the person behind the work". And you do that both passively; eg thinking that people respect someone while actually they respect their work.... and actively, by revering a person because of their work. It's a mistake, but a very common mistake. Take Marilyn Manson for example. He's a fucking shit human being, a downright criminal, abuser and sex offender. No two ways about that. But no one can take away the fact his success took LOADS of artistic, marketing and other kinds of creativity in addition to LOADS of time spent working his damn ass off to actually get these things DONE. Phil Anselmo has the most real, engaging interviews ever. And god I miss listening to Peter Steele. I like to visit his grave from time to time to pay my respects.
I had the same thing happen to me that Johnathan Davis talked about. I suffer from anxiety, depression, and bouts of insomnia that last upwards of 4 - 5 days. My doctor prescribed me Ambien to help me sleep. It stopped working after a while but I still took it as prescribed. Eventually, I got to where I had been awake for 3 days despite taking Ambien each night at 10pm. Towards the end of the 3rd day, I was extremely paranoid and started having bad panic attacks. My girlfriend was pregnant with our son at the time. I convinced myself that I was being poisoned by my medications and I was going to die before he was born. So I took everything and dumped it into my garbage disposal; which made my situation much worse. People don't understand how difficult it is for someone in that state of mind to ask for help. You go into survival mode and the only person you trust is the one giving you horrible advice: yourself.
My old friend has long term trauma like I do and I was surprised my honesty shocked him. I basically summed up my experience with c-ptsd. At the end of the day I just survived too many things I shouldn't have and wished I didn't.
"Tell us about all the man sex you've had and if you recommend it!" "Even if your feeble mind could comprehend the wisdom I would impart on you, I'd rather save it for my memoirs and get paid handsomely for it." Bowie, everyone.
Yeah...it definitely gives Phil's brutally honest perspective of all the 'behind the scenes' turmoil of Pantera at the time. After realizing how much of an addict he had become...it's no wonder why he drifted apart from Pantera the way they did. He was was lucky to come out alive from those days. (Just like the classic Ministry song 'Just One Fix' warns ..."never trust a junkie"). Great to see Phil sober and focused again these days.
As a woman, I don't have a problem with Rollins' comments. Those are his preferences, and that's fine. My problem is that, based on experience, men with that mentality tend to be horrible to all women who don't fit their perfect standard, regardless of whether they want a relationship or not. As long as it's just an opinion, it's fine. The moment you start disrespecting people or treating them like shit because of perceived "flaws" (that don't really affect *you* ), that's fucked up.

@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw No, schizophrenic means you suffer from the mental illness called schizophrenia, it's a VERY specific thing. It's a diagnosis NOT a symptom. The diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia being hallucinations (seeing/hearing/feeling stuff that isn't there), delusions (believing something despite having proof to the contrary), disorganized thoughts (hard to gather your thoughts, trouble speaking clearly or in a way that people understand the message you're trying to convey, etc) and social withdrawal (self explanatory) Now, all of these symptoms can present themselves in other conditions, for example Bipolar Disorder, but you would never describe a bipolar person currently suffering from mania induced psychosis as "being schizophrenic today" or well, you might, but it would be 100% incorrect to do so. I don't know if this will make it easier to understand, but imagine you have depression caused by bipolar disorder, would you ever say "yeah I have Major Depressive Disorder today" No, you wouldn't. Or actually let's move it away from the mental health stuff, let's say you know for sure you have a common cold, so you have a cough, if you were describing your cough would you ever say "Yeah, I'm feeling COVID 19-y today?"
It's funny when I see these interviews, and I feel like their music has been ways of expressing their pain. It's why I like these musicians, because they are like real people, a bunch of people that are navigating their troubles like everyone else.

The Type O Negative guy I absolutely understand. Being able to buy everything online, to work from home, to be alone? This was a dream come true! It's not that I don't like interacting with people (I do. I have close friends and family, and I'm not wildly anti-social) it's just I can only do it in small doses and when I want to and with people I know really well, otherwise it becomes distressing. It's not quite social anxiety, I just prefer to be alone. It's reassuring, ironically, to know that I'm not the only one.

I don't relate too much with Jonathan Davis since I'm not depressed nor schizophrenic, but I do relate with Peter Steele so much on not enjoying people. Not because I hate them, but because being alone with peace its actually quite addicting. Sometimes I do go out, but when I do and maybe had a good time with someone, I just can't help but thinking how a better time I'd had alone.
2:57 I can relate so much with so many of these artists. I've used a similar analogy, where every so often I need to molt in order to grow, like so many different animals do. Except we do it with our minds. Our consciousness stagnates and for various reasons we choose to remain the same. But if you "shed your lizard skin" every so often, you can accomplish incredible things.
Rollins comes across as someone who's been traumatised by rejection so has set his standards impossibly high and puts on an aggressive 'I'm better than you' front to push people away so he never has to risk being rejected again.
@@Kris_P._Bey_KenYou know I can see that you've made fun of someone for agreeing with Rollins on another post right? Yet here you are endorsing Rollins comments on my post. That's a weird thing to do.
Or just a man frustrated by the low number of worthy prospective partners out there. Not saying that's the case, as I don't know anything about him. I have to say though, he doesn't exactly look like the kind of guy that would be rejected much. And honestly, I can understand the frustration. I have felt it when looking at Tinder, for example. It's like they make the women at a factory. Photos: some cleavage, some with friends, some from the gym, and plenty of mountain photos (I live in a mountainous region). Profile text: in most cases none at all. If there is any, it's some worthless line like "I like chocolate!" or something like that. Often a link to their Instagram. Interests: "Foodie", hanging out with friends, working out, walking, dog lover, grab a drink and so on. Might as well put "I like to breathe" on there as far as I'm concerned. In essence, ZERO personality, and this is, without exaggeration, 95 % + of the women on there. Now, I understand that perhaps Tinder attracts a particular kind of woman, but GOD DAMN how many of them there are that are like this! The only ones that have any profile text tend to be obese. How can one not be frustrated? I don't think it's fair to say that this is a result of particularly unreasonable standards on my part either! Just a woman that doesn't appear to be completely soulless. Yet, when the bar is so damn low, even the most basic standards start looking "impossibly high". As such, I can sympathize with Rollins, even if I can acknowledge that he comes off a bit bitter.
It's just very sad to see how Kurt Cobain went from a cheerful, positive guy to a depressed, cynical loner and a heroin addict. Like, something died inside him. I still miss Kurt and Layne to this day. My birthday is the date of their death, April 5th.
I think he was annoyed/hurt by this question and kind of lashed out in a weird way at females in general. But, yeah: He's still single to this day, so I think it's more of a choice than 'duh everyone is just boring'

Now MOST people who love his music, actually laugh at the lunatic behind it. But they still buy the music and show at the concerts and so people looking from outside often believe, they respect the PERSON.

My problem is that, based on experience, men with that mentality tend to be horrible to all women who don't fit their perfect standard, regardless of whether they want a relationship or not. @@wallaceshawn-zk8iw No, schizophrenic means you suffer from the mental illness called schizophrenia, it's a VERY specific thing. It's a diagnosis NOT a symptom.
The diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia being hallucinations (seeing/hearing/feeling stuff that isn't there), delusions (believing something despite having proof to the contrary), disorganized thoughts (hard to gather your thoughts, trouble speaking clearly or in a way that people understand the message you're trying to convey, etc) and social withdrawal (self explanatory)
Now, all of these symptoms can present themselves in other conditions, for example Bipolar Disorder, but you would never describe a bipolar person currently suffering from mania induced psychosis as "being schizophrenic today" or well, you might, but it would be 100% incorrect to do so.

I was surprised by Rollins, I didn’t think he was so rigid. He comes off as a meathead, but I know for a fact he is smart and thoughtful.
He's gotten a little less rigid over the years...by like, 2%.
@@armorykittington Good one!😂
@Roc Towerhug Yeah been following him for many years, I have never seen that clip, it was jarring.
Dude he’s so mean for no reason 😂 I love his music tho
Definitely wouldn't have thought he was so against smoking and doesn't drink
Okay "go be fat on someone else's time" has officially become my new catch phrase haha...damn
I needed this…I turn 28 this week and I’ve never been this isolated in my life. I lost a lot of fucking people to covid. I feel like I have no way to cope. Every place that I used to go to unwind is now vacant. Every person I used to call to confide in is now in the ground. The people that surround me from the outside seem so hostile and cold…I feel like my time is probably drawing near. I never would’ve made it this far without music, but it can’t heal everything.
Damian, Can you join a group within your community that shares a common interest? A church group, chess club, walking group- whatever sparks an interest. Internet life just can’t make up for connecting in the real world. Nature also helps. Since COVID, I miss hugs which I hope make a comeback. Best wishes!
People you lost would understand, bro. Whatever the choice.
But there will always be a time for you to go. And there is still a life you can live and be happy about. You don't owe it to anyone but yourself, but I bet the people you've lost would love to see you push through and make them proud.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
And always remember that there are enough of those that have some love to spare.
Corgan has some serious chats from time to time. He lays it flat if it’s a honest question
Was surprised to see Zillakami in this. That whole interview with Brandon Buckingham is great
I got physically high seeing Buckingham/Zilla on here, favorite youtuber and favorite hip-hop artist
@@braddaily8688 I've been a Zilla fan for a while but just got into Buckingham when he started having Zilla in vids. I hope his eye chlamydia is doing better
@@Randomhero348 I haven't seen much on his insta recently, hopefully he's not blind. That would honestly scare the living hell out of me if I went even temporarily blind from an infection
I remember that Phil interview, that one hit a little to close to home!
Good thing they censored the words "Kill" and "Overdose" in a video about honest answers on mostly suicide, anxiety and drug addiction.
Wouldn't want things to get too dark or anything.
I’m trying to understand why they are censoring those words.
@@samfappas5854 RUclips algo flags it an demonetizes
The interview clips might have been censored already. Maybe there is no accessible uncensored version so they put what they could find.
i love what the first guy says about wooman
I'm fat, and drink and smoke, but even I get what Rollins is talking about. The man doesn't drink or smoke, he works out like a beast and is a fairly intelligent dude. Why wouldn't he want a partner that holds themselves to similarly high standards?
diversity in life, because we never know too much
I mean, obviously anyone is entitled to have their likes and dislikes, but: meh. At some point, wanting basically a clone of yourself becomes pathological. And saying most people of the opposite sex bore you is just obnoxious and egotistical. Someone smokes so they bore you? That doesn't make a lot of sense. And there are plenty of "fat" people who exercise on the regular, they're just not hell-bent on looking roided up. I'd like to think that in the years that have passed since that interview, he's gained some perspective and is mortified by what he said.
@@copyright-ur1sf I'm a guy but I 100% feel what Henry said. Maybe not as harshly, what you do with your body is your choice, but I relate to him when he says most women bore him. I don't know why that's the case, and it's likely a me problem since others don't seem to have that issue, so I choose to remain single. It's not a "I hate women" thing, it's more like I never seem to "click" with women. But then again I don't really click with men either. Sure he could have said those things in a nicer way but it's nice to know that there are others out there who prefer being single and there's nothing wrong with it. I'd rather be the guy who avoids women romantically than the guy who beats women
@@smokesletsgo2374 See, if he said it like you did, my impression would be: Cool, he's just not into dating anyone. Fair enough. But Rollins played it off like he's just super choosy about a partner, which comes across as self-important and annoying. Then again, I don't think I've ever met a straight-edge person who isn't a sanctimonious turd lol

Honest Answers = Respect...That´s enough.
I can relate to Cobain wanting to use drugs or die to escape physical pain. I’m not at that point now but I had been because of autoimmune illnesses. It’s a living nightmare
I can relate man, wishing you nothing but the best
That was very interesting and parts are super sad seeing those who are not with us today for whatever reason. Some are extremely judgemental and that is the reason they are sad, some had internal reasons that made their circumstances sad, some external reasons that made things change for the better or worse? This was a great video. ❤🌸
Ok, why the hell was "overdosing" partially bleeped out? What the fuck...
RUclips is really great at demonetising content that mentions drug use and over dosing.
"my goal is isolation.."
damnit I love Peter Steele! I don't like being around a whole lot of people either, green man!
