back in 2009, I seen Dave Rowntree and spit in his face. it was nasty af. like, i was drinking milk earlier kinda nasty..
I used to remind him of it every now and then, but then i was banned from facebook and lost interest. LOL
But if you find him on socials, ask him if he remembers. june or july of 2009.

Beck getting interviewed by Thurston Moore is way funnier if you've seen Nardwuar's first interview with the Sonic Youth. Got served a small taste of his own medicine.
Beck and Thurston scipted the routine together.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that Henry apologized for it years later.
I didn't think so. The kid asked questions that were braver and cockier than he could back up. Henry defended himself and the band in the least intimidating way possible.
Rollins actually said that he owes that kid an apology and said that he unfortunately got a lot of the misplaced anger he was feeling at the time!!
Rollins didn't embarrass the interviewer, he scared the shit out of him.

The one with Nardwuar and Blur is the opposite of what you titled this video.
Nardwuar stayed in character and continued to roll out new questions while the band, one of which is clearly coked up, try to bully him.
Nardwuar gained my respect, Blur didn’t have any of my respect in the first place, so they’re now in the red.
Do the deep dive on Nardy, his interviews are absolutely insane. The research he does before interviews and the rare items he can dig up are unlike anyone else in the business. He is easily the best music interviewer out there, regardless of his odd (but loveable) approach.

@@clarkem4119 Yeah he wasn't really like that 20 odd years ago, he wasn't the lovable Nardwuar of today. He was often deliberately provocative and in this instance he kept mentioning Damons ex girlfriend which is obviously going to piss him off and why Damon is just refusing to answer any questions when the actual interview starts. Dave Rowntree was off his rocker on coke and is staring him down because he's pissed his mate off. Blur haven't behaved like that in any other interview so it's not like it's their character to do so. If you look back at Nardwuar interviews from the 90s and early 2000s you can see loads that are really tense and the musicians are cagey and a bit pissed off.
This video is how youtube videos used to be back in the day. Just genuine content. No ads. Just a few friends having fun and posting it.
That David Crosby one is shocking. I mean imagine you were the interviewer and ol’ Dave was hurling the insults at you.
Idk man it was pretty shocking, it sounds like David is a bit of a salty old man. I feel like i would've tried to keep doing the interview if it was me though to see how far he would've gone. Like all he did was call him a dumb guy, like i would've tried to just laugh it off but the interviewer took it to heart to much. We also dont have the context, maybe he was saying some studid shit before who knows.

Crosby had a point! This guy is interviewing a 'historical figure' in David Crosby and you want to ask him chit chat questions about knowing Joni Mitchell?! David Crosby doesn't know Joni Mitchell, Joni Mitchell knows David Crosby. There's a HUGE difference in prestige between the two.

I was literally just thinking, you guys should do a list of "Times That Techs Filled In For Their Musician." For example: Charlie Benante's drum tech filled in for him for a bit while Charlie was off playing with Pantera. Or how Reed Mullin's drum tech took over for him in Corrosion of Conformity after Reed passed away in 2020.
I think this would be a good list, and gives techs the credit they deserve.
Maybe a drum channel would like to do that for you? Dunno, doesn't seem that interesting to me

I was never a fan of Blur, but after seeing them fuck with Nardwar like that, they have now become my enemy.
I wouldn't f*ck with the man, but I would ask him nicely to get the mic out of my face - but only once. After that, I wouldn't be so nice.

Beck and Thurston Moore were just having fun together, which is in stark contrast to the David Crosby interview.
A lot of it really isn't embarrassing. A lot of them are showing the frustration and rightfully so. Answering the same questions that you had answered several times before in other interviews. People trying to get a rise out of you and asking personal questions. Imagine that over and over again, especially if you are at a press heavy event. It would grind anyone's gears after awhile.
My favorite one not listed here is when Syd Barrett answered an old (I think French?) interviewer "Why does it have to be so loud?" with "Because we like it like that."

I always felt like Beck wasn't ever trying.
But i really liked his advanced sound when it dropped in 90's.

Beck & Thurston are totally just fucking around, they’re friends. He didn’t “embarrass” him. Although, as a lifelong Sonic Youth fan I can honestly say the Nardwar thing was really fucked up. I didn’t see it until recently. I’m sure they really regret it, being young & dumb. I’m not trying to excuse their behavior, but that’s the only time I’ve seen them act like that. It was really fucking weird & upsetting to see from a band I’ve held in such high regard since I was a teenager….

Actually art school types playing at chavs , but there you go. I've read elsewhere that there was a bit of history to this, Nardwar had stepped over a line in a previous interview so they weren't well disposed towards him, don't knwo if that is true.
