These three shows, starting with 3-26-88, are easily the best three in a row I ever got. thanks for sharing, 3-28 has been noticeably absent and I am not tech savy enough to get my old VHS online.
My 3rd concert. Went to Atlanta on 3/24 with my girlfriend and that was my first show. She lived in Va. Beach so we went up to her house and went to 2 of 3 shows. 3/26 and 3/28. What a wonderful time with such great music!
My good friend Joel was in the show. I was in the parking lot cuz I didn’t have a ticket. While I talked all night to his girlfriend Trisha, Joel was in the show with one of our buddies. There were a couple of shows before this one and many more to follow but this is what Joel later told me abut the show: “We were up in the front row and we were screaming ‘We want Phil! We want Phil’. And then Phil stops and says ‘For all you down in the front row, you gotta understand that you can’t always get what you want. Then we started screaming, ‘We NEED Phil! We NEED Phil!’ And then they played Box of Rain.” A magical, magical night, even though I was only in the lot. It was part of the most special time of my life. If I knew where Joel was now, well, the stories we would tell…
My first show. i was on the floor not far from Jerry. Life was never the same after that. I only remember The Other One clearly. I am so Grateful for this record of that night!
32 years ago to the night, three starry-eyed entrepeneurs set forth with a bold plan; to get in line EARLY and get themselves a front row floor spot just left of center. we were the wisen-heimers up front and we had a plan. we conversed with our surrounding comrades and started in with a "we want phil, We Want Phil WE WANT PHIL!" chant before the band took the stage. after the third repetition it sounded like 100 people had joined in cadence, by the 5th, it sounded like this fire had swept across the entire floor and by the 7th, every occupant of that jewel encrusted crown-shaped spaceship had taken up this clarion call. the energy in that tiny starship was always so amazing. as the band entered the control room, the chant resumed, though first officer Bob was at the helm to launche the ship this evening and wasn't about to relinquish this duty. during a brief interlude about 20 minutes after liftoff, the crew took up the chant again, only to be playfully admonished by Dr. Phil. But far from being disuaded, the crew (aka wisen-heimers) took this as reason to press their demands in a groundswell of relentless vigor til capitulation was finally achieved. ahhhhh, memories.
m so serious there are beautiful beautiful moments in every song here once you get in there a little. every one of them has something lovely, precious, fantastic, heart wrenching. this is good, of course it is. its Hampton. just cant miss ever with this band
thank you @@davidgordon7673 today is my son's birthday. he is twenty something. when he was born the Grateful Dead was at the Palace and the best foolish heart ever went off. @@janeseamore1370 Ah, that story is called "Teddy". One of my faves. You have a very lucky son to have a mom read JD to him...and who loves the Dead. Have yourself a lovely day.
I believe this was the show...I was standing near the main entrance off the upstairs concourse straight back from the stage and a policeman brought his police bud inside just as the light show for Truckin' synched to the line 'sometimes the lights all shining on me' (which was a crowd fave)...and police guy was amazed....cause of course everyone was standing and many were singing along. Some good nights at the old clamshell....
Looks like it was shot from a truss spot position …. Candace was using the Morpheus spots which color and intensity was controlled by the board. All the op had to do was stay on target and and enjoy the show or maybe tape the show. Regardless Thanks
Second set after Space, Guitar Fightin' at its bassed/worst poor Phil. Jerry and Bobby going at it. It was so beautiful when he broke in to the solo. My young self was never the same, as it should be.
I remember his voice cracking, but now I know he was unsure about some of the lyrics. As I remember, his solo made up for it on Stella Blue. Let's see.
Oh and there it is. This was the third night, second set of a pretty good run. My first and maybe best GD Experience, but getting up close and that Stella.
