Depends on the plant but for most plants, it makes them grow faster, vibrant and most lush. Like Amazon Swords will grow a little faster but leaves are broader and the over coloration of the plant is bright green.

Star grass needs a mention. No Co2 is needed,it grows well in even lowlights..but of course not a carpet then. With hi light, iron gluconate(Seachem) and if your tank is say 30 gallons and up,you can pinch it down to 2 and a half inches or less. You just need to do that about once a week as its a fast grower on iron. Looks like thick turf..like you could walk on it.

Doing my first dry start. Glosso and I think HC/Dwarf Baby Tears. Not sure, mystery carpeting seeds from Amazon.com. Java Moss is good. Have to admit usually use java moss for ledges and walls but its hell to get going for a carpet unless you use plastic mesh then anchor it down or just use stainless steel mesh since it has enough weigh to stay down, usually. Need to try hair grass again sometime. Seems like it never grows for me. Never tried sty repens but looks good so maybe one day.

@@TheWaterBox but on a long term basis, especially to those carpet who doesn't require much co2, will they grow back, even if it's not immediate? 😊 Thank you for answering sir.

@@joelpatrickbaliton8927 Dwarf Hair Grass or Monte Carlo, there's a chance. I dunno what that chance would be. What I would do in this case is once you flood to trim the carpet down to it's stems (for MC, cut 1/4" in on the dwarf hair grass). That way you won't get too much die back at first. Again, I've never tried it. I wouldn't suggest it. But then I'm never attempted it so I can't really so how will it'll work just for the fact of how DSM works.

I have something small scale like that's doing fair in a non Co2 tank and in sand. I think its dwarf sword..sending out runners despite the low light level where its growing. I should have put it in shallow pot with some earthy substrate and sand over that. My tanks pool sand is pretty sterile even months later after set up.
The fact it's alive and reproducing means in a small tank with close lighting above it would be just right.
I do mount plants on wood..but ALL my other plants are in pots. I don't want hundreds of pounds of sand or gravel and I also can move plants around that are too slow once the bigger plants shade them. Plus,I know myself..I get tired of a plant where it is sometimes and in pots I can rearange the aquascape.
I have 70 pounds of coarse pool sands...it's enough to cover the bottom of a 240 with a token thin layer.

It'll go away after a while with water changes but you can also use lots of carbon. OR try Purigen. That's suppose to help remove it: amzn.to/2HHNejT

Yeh, that's the problem with carbon. :/ I'm not sure if purigen does that. It might. I normal just do it with water changes myself. It take a while but I don't mind that natural look for a little while. Unless it's way out of hand.
