Hi.. new to aquascape, very happy to find this video, it will be a money saver! 😆 My tank has light in the lid, so I can’t take advantage of it. Can I leave the container getting sun or is it really advised to use lamp?
Glad I could help! I would advise to use a light because sun is unpredictable and the biggest issue is the temperature. Sun can heat up the container very fast and that would kill the plants. Of course it's possible, just a bit more difficult to control.
In the past it was working just fine :) And the plants from the video are already in my new tank for about 2 weeks - and also doing great, no melting and already some of them are growing :)
It dependsob your humidity level, the more the humidity the more they have the submerged state.for more info check out the video made by aquarium plant labs about humidity
It depends. How warm your container will get during the day? Because sun can make it very warm, very fast. If it's under 30C it should be ok, but preferred would be something like 27 max. So if you don't let it get to hot - it will work :)
Hi. Thanks for great video. Once plant fully grown in the basket… what’s the best way in your opinion to keep it in the main display… is it ok if I took it all as one piece and keep it in the display tank or there is another way to do so.
Hi! Thank you! It really depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want the have a big carpet in your tank - then you can divide the 'basket' into small portions, and spread them through your substrate. But if you want one, huge, dense piece in one place - just put it underwater and you are good to go ;) Here is how I used mine: ruclips.net/video/3aVCq-1_08c/видео.html
Ohh thank you for this! My Glossostigma carpet was so easy and fast, but my Monte Carlo is driving me insane just to keep it from detaching the soil and float...
Yes. I have an established 10-gallon betta tank. I followed the exact procedure as in the video. I separated the fully grown mat into "clumps" and carefully put it the aquarium and lowered it onto the existing substrate. Although there was massive root growth from this 8 week of "incubation", obviously some of the clumps started to break from the main body when it was CAREFULLY being lowered into the aquarium. No problem, those clumps settled onto the substrate surface and eventually started to spread out. I also decided to pile some substrate up against one of the outside walls of my betta's "swim through" cave., then using the same process as before, carefully lowered some of the propagated anubias onto the sloping substrate. After gently moving and smoothing out the substrate the anubias started to spread horizontally over the side wall of the betta cave and onto the top. It gives a neat effect of a half overgrown "cave" that my betta loves swimming through. You just need to be patient when placing the propagated plant onto the substrate that you pile up onto the sloping substrate that is resting against the "cave".
Really helpful video thank you so much, can you please let me know whether can we use normal enriched backyard soil instead of this substrate? I recently bought a tank (2.15 cubic feet) and not sure which plants to keep for my guppy fishes.
@@AquascapingCube Thank you so mutch, i will be trying my first nano tank this week. I watched alot of your videos and some others, so i think i have it kinda of figured out. wisth me luck

Could I use aquatic moss as a carpet on a land portion of a paludarium if it is very well hydrated? The enclosure has a tight lid and has a scheduled misting system.
Yes, you can definitely do that as long as it's humid enough. I'm making another project with monte carlo and it's in something "like terrarium" and it's doing fine after 3 months.
I’m new to planted aquariums and was wondering what type of substrate you recommend? I was gonna do a shrimp tank and was thinking of doing some sort of soil then sand on top and was wondering what you would use.

I always put them in slightly warm water for one minute and then try to wash it off by moving it quite fast in the same container. If you have problems just hold it under the tap with running water and remove it with your fingers.
It's a bit faster because you can blast it with strong light. Not much faster, just a bit. But I do it because it's safe and easy. No water = no risk of algae.
2:17 Will it work as well if we use dirty water (from dirty filter sponge) instead of the expensive (aka not free) plant nutritive substrat? Or diluted miracle grow fertilizer with sand or gravel?
Sand with fertilizer definitely works, because I tried it myself. Also root tabs + sand are fine. Dirty water - I don't know, never tried this one. With substrate, I often take some from my old tanks, that I have taken down - it's often still very beneficial and works great.
Can you add something like this to an already established tank? I want to make a carpet without taking the whole tank apart and restarting with the seeds plus i cant rehome my fish but could i grow something like this qnd drop It in there for him
Yes, you can do that. The only problem might be planting it - because it's difficult with Monte Carlo. And it will be even more difficult because fish might dig it out at first. So I suggest to mix the substrete with sand - to make it heavier. But you still can totally try it out.
I wonder if it would grow more in about three weeks. I am going to do a dark start on a new tank starting tomorrow and will wait three weeks. I have Monte Carlo arriving in two days so if I do this I will only be able to propagate it in this manner for three to four weeks. I would assume I can keep it alive for and maybe grow a little more by doing it this way.
Yes, it will grow a bit in 4 weeks. Don't expect big results - but the good thing is that it should develop some roots. And this will make your life easier when you will fill it with water.

It was very little amount. About 1cm or 0.5 inch. I think that direct light might work, but it has to be strong enough. Aand you have to be careful about temperature, because you cannot overheat the container.
Question, if you don't use the entire amount of propagated plant material, will the remaining amount reproduce and continue to fill the container? As in a never-ending supply of plants? Hahahaha, im cheap! And I have all the specialized plant growing tools at my disposal! But you've given me a great idea! Thank you so very much for your video!!
Thank you! Yes, it will keep growing - but will require a lot of time. When using it - take smaller portions from different places of the container, this way it will "come back" faster. Patience is key - and money :P
After it's planted in your tank - yes, CO2 would help a lot. I always use monte carlo with CO2, often DIY systems are enough, like this one: ruclips.net/video/D3zYf8uNVxE/видео.html
Yes, absolutely. Most of the potted plants are grown in emersed form, and once they get into water they are "dropping" emersed leaves and grow new ones - suitable for underwater environment. It's totally normal :)

@@AquascapingCube thanks for the response. I tried somehing similar to this with java moss but i put it in too much sunlight so it died and i wasnt sure if it was sunlight or something else that did it.
I might be high temperature. If you are using sunlight, close to the window, it might warm up the container really fast to really high temperatures.
How long are you putting it under the light? Or is it under a constant 24 hours light?
Just 8hr of light. It just uses the light from my main tank that is scheduled to be ON for 8hr/day.
how many inches or cm of aqua soil did you use in container ?Also can i place the container in direct sunlight instead of artificial light?
It was very little amount. About 1cm or 0.5 inch. I think that direct light might work, but it has to be strong enough. Aand you have to be careful about temperature, because you cannot overheat the container.
where did you buy the original plant from?
I just bought them online. I often get them from Amazon
Is it posible with seeds?
Question, if you don't use the entire amount of propagated plant material, will the remaining amount reproduce and continue to fill the container? As in a never-ending supply of plants? Hahahaha, im cheap! And I have all the specialized plant growing tools at my disposal! But you've given me a great idea! Thank you so very much for your video!!
Thank you! Yes, it will keep growing - but will require a lot of time. When using it - take smaller portions from different places of the container, this way it will "come back" faster. Patience is key - and money :P
what is the active substrates?
Active substrate is full of nutrients, provides the base for healthy and powerful plant growth.
Amazing does it need CO2? ❤
After it's planted in your tank - yes, CO2 would help a lot. I always use monte carlo with CO2, often DIY systems are enough, like this one: ruclips.net/video/D3zYf8uNVxE/видео.html
Is it normal for the newly planted plants to melt some leaves in the first few weeks or two of planting?
Yes, absolutely. Most of the potted plants are grown in emersed form, and once they get into water they are "dropping" emersed leaves and grow new ones - suitable for underwater environment. It's totally normal :)
Will it works with Java Moss?
Yes, but I would use different growing medium, probably crushed lava rock or similar. I'm planning a video about this soon ;)
@@AquascapingCube I'm really curious to see the new video🤗 Thank you very much!😃
