    A great tip is that consistently trimming your carpeting plants will allow the roots to grow faster and also let the plant spread faster as well

    Hey man great video, I do have a question, iv got S repens but rn it looks nothing like a carpet plant its growing roots i can see those but in my tank its like a long stem with not many leaves yet but very small. Should i cut the long stem to small parts and plant them again? . its a VERY VERY low tech tank w crypts and brazillian grass..crypts is doing well.. grass idk and stauro i need help w it. What do i do (cant add co2,ferts for now)
    bought s ripens from a store like 2-3 weeks ago they sold it as a long stem with not many leaves still what DIY method can i do to make it grow fast? and others too
    i do have a good high bioload

    • @princescdk3107
      @princescdk3107 3 месяца назад

      So being a stem plant they do grow upwards cutting them back and planting the cutting helps spread them. But also instead of growing from where you cut it they will quickly start going sideways then up again almost like you blocked the road and they took a turn. They will still grow from where you cut it just not right away. So the best thing to do it cut and plant until your satisfied with the layout after that. Your only cutting and with each cut they get denser and denser it takes time with S. Repens. Also if they are growing tall rather than compact try getting a stronger light. Under lower lighting they tend to get leggy and stretch high light and they don't have to stretch to the source; this is true for all stem plants. Good luck and I hope this helps 👍🏾😁

      How did you get on? 'VERY VERY low tech' sounds like not enough light. I've just planted some in mine. Only issue is the fish and MTS keep uprooting them 🙃

    • @AgasthyaMaramraj
      @AgasthyaMaramraj 3 месяца назад

      @@ArnoldQMudskipper yes I mean it's decent the quantity but the quality is just basic and it came with the tank. The crypts have boomed in growth , stauros are mid, while the grass is just alive no growth. The fish are overcrowded abit so somehow it also acts as fertilizer..going to add another plant in the future.

    I've had a nightmare with the pearlweed just not staying in the gravel & floating up. I have no special lighting, CO2 , any tips, should I plant it deeper? Unsure whether to buy more or try something different. Maybe I separated it too much 🤔 great clip, really interesting.

    • @Aquafinity
      @Aquafinity  5 месяцев назад +1

      planting it deeper might help, you could also hold it down with some stones. the key is to keep it from floating until the roots grow in, where they will anchor the plant down strong. Hope this helps!

    How do you clean the gravel underneath?

    • @Aquafinity
      @Aquafinity  4 месяца назад

      it's not cleaned, the gravel is part of the ecosystem and provides as a base layer for the tank. Waste that falls into the gravel is absorbed by plants. The more plants, the healthier the tank :)

      if you look closely, their leaves are slightly different shapes. also monte carlo grows more like those house plants you see and can grow on wood/rocks without substrate. glosso will definitely need a nutrient rich substrate. another difference is that glosso tends to grows faster than monte. hope this helps!

      I’ve found that Monte Carlo grows fine without co2 as long as high lighting and a nutrient rich substrate are provided. Oftentimes their demise is due to a lack of lighting or nutrients.
