Thanks for such a detailed walk-through. It's frustrating seeing how many videos there are of people doing this fix the quick way, instead of what you're doing, which in my opinion, is the correct way.
I started this channel for exactly that reason, I know it get a bit long winded sometimes but my hope is that it empowers people that would otherwise not repair
Thank you, this really helped me save alot of money.
I’m glad my video was able to help
So will the camera still take the same quality photos as the original lens compared to the replacement lens?
It all depends on the status of your camera lens prior to repair. If there was a gaping hole in the lens than inevitably dust got all over the actual camera assembly/lens. In that scenario you would have to replace the camera to improve camera functionality back to normal
If there’s just a hairline crack/no hole in the lens the camera underneath should be fine and no need for replacement
@@repaironwheels ok so I only have a minor hairline crack no hole, a new lens will still be the same as before as there’s no damage to the actual camera?
As long as there’s no dust or debris on the actual camera lens you’re good
@@repaironwheels ok do you recommend getting a replacement lens for only a minor crack? Just in case it gets worse
Hi! Education video. Do you know why camera one may be real blurry after repair? It’s only camera 1.
Sounds like dust got on the lens.
More than likely you will have to replace the camera
The other possibility is that there’s a smudge on the inside of the lens that needs to be cleaned off
Do ya' not replace the adhesive that you heated up at the beginning? Isn't that what seals it to keep water from intruding?
installed from the factory yes its part of what gives the device its water resistant seal but once its opened theres no going back. in my experience that seal stops being water resistant not long after its first use. i don't have an exact timeline for you but ive seen dozens of phones under 6 months old that have never been damaged/opened/repaired/etc that still ended up being water damage after a few seconds being wet.
the seal's second function is to keep the screen and housing from tapping/clicking together while being used (typing/scrolling/etc) as long as the majority of the seal is intact i keep it there as the seal from the factory is much better than most of the aftermarket seals
Lock your focus and exposure settings
Thank you
Hey can you leave a link to where you buy the replacement lenses from?
www.mobilesentrix.com
Or eBay. I like MobileSentrix because they have sapphire lens available
Hi! I just replaced the glass lens of one of the lenses by myself I was very careful, the camera seemed fine no scratches but now it’s blurry when I zoom in 🥴😞😞 I can’t zoom up to 2,5 or it will be all blurry. What do you think it’s my problem now? 😞😞
Gotta replace the entire camera :(
When you detached the screen with that iron thickness, didn't you risk scratching the whole body or worse, bending it?
The tricky thing about repair is knowing how much force (or not) to apply. It’s certainly possible to scratch the housing but as long as you heat up the perimeter gasket which makes it easier to lift the screen and therefore less likely to use excess force. Apple uses this gadget with suction cups to separate the screen from the body which also controls how far the screen lifts. But most people don’t have access to this or probably wouldnt drop that much $€£¥₽¢ for a likely one time repair so I use the same tools as the average DIYer would use to show you that it’s possible
As for the potential of bending… ever since the 6 plus ‘bendgate’ debacle a few years back apple strengthened the frames of all iPhones moving forward, part of the reasoning being that you need a straight frame to guarantee any level of dust or liquid protection. But pretty much all newer frames aren’t going to bend from just removing the screen with the opening tool I use in the video
is there a difference in the quality of the photos when it comes to replacing with not original lenses the iPhone camera lenses?
No. The nicer ones are sapphire crystal which is more resilient to scratching. As long as you didn’t get dust on your lens either pre repair or during the repair camera quality isn’t affected
I use mobilesentrix
@@repaironwheels I had to buy from Amazon, they won’t let me buy from them because I’m not a “business”
Does the glass actually affect the camera as one of my cams the glass isn’t there and it makes the camera really blurry it’s the 0.5x lens
Once the camera lens is missing or damaged it lets in dust/debris and the rear camera ultimately needs to be replaced. If you’re in the US I can sell you a replacement part. Email or text me

I replaced the lens now it’s having an issue with the stabilization could it be pieces of glass around it ?
Usually optical image stabilization issues would have been preset prior to the repair You will more than likely need to replace the camera
@@repaironwheels well I think it’s the stabilization it’s constantly trying to focus takes like 3 seconds for it to stop
In my experience optical image stabilization issues means the camera needs to be replaced.
I had my lens replaced by apple assistance! do you think that after opening the phone it will no longer be waterproof? even if apple has fixed it?
Last time I asked apple this question they claim that the ip67 or ip68 remains post repair (assuming they preformed the repair) but I don’t find that to be true. Each time they remove the screen they reinstall a new gasket, but it’s pretty easy to install wrong or more realistically for the new seal to not be able to repel water as efficiently as it did from the factory
For example… I had an iPhone X that began experiencing what’s commonly referred to as ghost or phantom touch where the screen starts pressing stuff on its own. My phone was under warranty so I took it to apple, they verified the issue was a defect as my phone wasn’t damaged and also in great physical shape. When I got it back part of the seal was visibly sticking out from in between the bezel and screen. So clearly the tech didn’t install properly hence to ip67 rating
My camera lenses on my iPhone 12 Pro is cracked as well. I live in San Diego as well and was wondering how much you charge to fix this because my AT&T insurance won’t help

i replaced lens glass from local shop that looks totally different from other lens glass .. what should i now plz suggest
It’s possible it was installed upside down or they are using a lower quality piece. I opt for the sapphire lens from mobilesentrix that look a lot better in my opinion

My iPhone 11 camera glass is broken and I live in India. How much you will charge ?
I’m all the way in America. I’m not entirely sure I would be remotely economically effective to ship it overseas. But here’s a video I made just for the 11

@@repaironwheels how to buy lens glass ?
Ali express possibly. Maybe eBay. I don’t know what companies/vendors are in the US that are also in India I apologize I can’t be of more assistance
How to buy this camera glasses bro I need for my iphone12 pro
What country are you in
why do you disassemble? others just pry off broken glass. is it so you don't damage lens! asking to learn not to argue or question your methods.
To me the possibility of getting tiny shards of glass or dust/debris go up dramatically, increasing the chance of needing to replace the camera. On the 12 and up Apple gives you that BS ‘not genuine/unknown’ message. I know it’s definitely a longer repair but the good outweighs the bad
I am using iPhone 12 Pro Max accidently one of my camera len was broken. Is it effects my others camera??
Over a few months dust can eventually get in to the other lens. Luckily both the lens and camera assembly are replaceable. You’ll just have to deal with apples stupid ‘can’t confirm genuine apple camera’ message
@@repaironwheels i dont repair my camera lens because im so confused about this message...." Unable to verify this iphone has a genuine Apple camera" what should i do?? please help me to solve it...im from Bangladesh and here no service point of Apple. how can i get the genuine lens here?????
@@repaironwheels give me your email address i will send u some pic of it
Apple built that message into the operating system to deter people from fixing their phones. The only way to get rid of that message is if apple does it. The message is just annoying that’s it. It doesn’t affect functionality. You could take apart 2 brand new iPhones and exchange parts between them and get several different ‘can’t confirm genuine’ messages. It’s apples way of sticking it to diy/3rd party repair
@@repaironwheels i am going to third party service center. They are telling me that my two camera was effected. But how can I know that really my two camera was affected??
What do I do if my inside rear camera get foggy?
Start with cleaning the inside lens. Use isopropyl alcohol and a qtip. If that doesn’t work you might need to replace the camera assembly entirely
Wasn’t necessary to open the phone apart to replace the camera glass. You lost the Water resisting properly the warranty as well
disassembling the device is tedious but ut ensures that you don’t get pieces of glass all over the camera lens
There’s no way to regain the ip68 rating and as for the warranty that’s out the window the moment the phone was damaged to begin with. There’s a slight difference in the sheen and color of the camera lens. I’d be amazed if apple wasn’t able to pick up on that
It also depend on the reason you are replacing the lens. If all you’re doing it replacing the lens to immediately trade it in to your carrier than yes disassembling the device is unnecessary you are careful not to damage the underlying camera
Hy how much for the lent please
I’m sorry but I don’t understand your question
Hey my camera buzzed and doesn’t focus is there any fix for that?
As of the 12 series apple made the rear camera not repairable/replaceable via 3rd party diy/repair shops
As long as the phone isn’t damaged or tampered with apple should cover it under warranty
@@repaironwheels thanks for the advice anything you could think it would be?
From the sounds of it the OIS (optical image stabilizer) is defective or damaged which is unfortunately all too common. Normally it’s as simple as replacing the camera assembly but recently with the 12 series the OS recognizes the camera has been replaced and renders it not functional. To my knowledge apple is the only place to get it replaced
How I get the camera glass
What country are you in
😬 when you put the phone down after removing all the broken lens glass
I usually clean off my work surface
Did I not?
