Wow 2 people sat in a van and showing 48mins of driving, who would have thought it would be so entertaining, loving India, its people and its chaos! Thankyou Marianne and Chris for sharing xxx
Yes agee... the India videos are fascinating... very realistic of what driving there is like ...as long as I don't have to do it myself 😁😂 They really need those safe space hotels for the overnight breaks!
Having lived in India for 5 years, I have to say kudos to you for being brave enough to drive there. Not many people have the steely nerves required to do that. Every car excursion my husband and I ever took involved at least 3 near-death experiences, but after awhile it becomes normal. Remember that honking in India is actually a very sophisticated language. They are not just honking to say hello; rather, they are telling you their next move. The honking vocabulary is complex but critical to master if you want to stay safe. As far as food goes, at some point you or your husband WILL become sick with gastroenteritis, even if you only ever eat in five-star hotels. Be ready for this and get the needed treatment. Meanwhile, do not touch the street food (even wise locals don't do that) as you don't know how or where it was prepared, and be vigilant with hand washing. Keep enjoying all the sounds, smells and vivid colours India has to offer. There is no other place quite like it.
@coolfinetime There are some of the most luxurious accommodations in the world in India, places where you pay between $500 and $2000 US per night for glamorous surroundings and first class service, but it's economically challenging to sustain this kind of travel for a month or more. I wish TTG would at least have lunch and a tour of one of the Taj hotels as they are truly phenomenal. If I had only a week to live I would check myself in at the Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur.
@coolfinetimethere are lots of modern areas in India but they’re not as interesting. They have malls, clean roads and infrastructure, classy restaurants and designer shops. You can find vlogs on those areas but these guys are doing a road trip through a huge country and i think they’re showing the real authentic side of India
@coolfinetimethere are clean & modern sides of India. Ride with Gabi has a vid wherein he rode through the rich (millionaire) area of Mumbai. He also has vids of a cyber city - just see his India playlist. The Zingwi brothers also showed some malls & rich/ clean areas. TTG didn't show much because I think they were in a hurry to reach Mumbai to ship their van. Maybe the ship had to leave by a certain date.
I always tell folks that India is one of the places on the planet everyone should try to visit at least once in their lives. I was lucky to live and work there for 5 years and enjoyed every minute of it!
Come on folks, the tread the globe duo are human. Based on several comments that they have made during this Indian sector, and the lack of detail other than driving, I would posit that they are experiencing culture shock (which can happen to anyone, no matter how well travelled) and also on a mission to get to Mumbai by a certain date. The fact that Marianne is an incredible driver doesn't mean that they wouldn't experience culture shock (heat, crowded environment, food, inability to talk various Indian languages at roadside eateries....it's not Malaysia or Korea etc.). Upset stomachs are also fairly common in India and if they have a deadline to meet they can't afford to get sick. Travel safe Marianne and Chris.
"Oh, how wonderful it is to see you, a foreigner, laughing at our beautiful culture and the charming quirks of our people. It's truly a delightful experience, isn't it? But don't worry, I'll laugh right back at you when I see your ridiculous van. A true RUclipsr is one who can find humor in everything, especially the most mundane aspects of life. Maturity, it seems, is just a matter of age. Or maybe it's just a matter of having a sense of humor that's as dry as your van's interior."
Don't complain about the potholes Marianne. Wait til you get back to UK and you will see them everywhere and wish you were back on India's roads again.
Absolutely love Rajasthan, have been twice. So sorry you missed the fort and beautiful blue city of Jodhpurs. Jaiselmir and the desert is a favorite of ours. It feels as though you are now in a hurry to get home, not exploring or savoring the places and relationships with people that you used to. Lots of driving, roads and modern hotels, without the direct contact with locals and culture. Missing that part ❤️❤️❤️
I think a lot of it’s due to the shipping routes to and from India and Malaysia , due to the fact that they were unable to travel through china because their visa for china was denied. Tread the Globe are now in South Africa, traveling on a loop tour
Totally agree Jodhpur is one of my absolute favourites in Rajasthan - there's so much to love about that city. Wandering through all the narrow alleys up to the fort with a fabulous museum I could not go on a tour without the freedom of doing it in your own time Not to be able wander around marketplaces - have a chai, or a speciality of that area and have conversations with the locals is such a great loss. So many stories that one could hear and information learnt will never be realised in a journey that simply is one the road from one hotel to the next. I'm a Brit living in India and absolutely love it - it's all the reasons I've listed is why I'm here. It's a country of such diversity and so rich in culture and talking to the locals, staying in their guesthouses move the travel to a journey - not simply highway after highway
Yep it is really tricky to explain in short videos the complexities of this kind of expedition and how the TIP, roads, visas, route changes and weather windows have made this even tougher to make the deadlines to get back to the UK for the Charity Dinner to raise money for the turtle project. But as this is just the first of many challenges we hoped to go back one day to share more one day ... but now in South Africa where the heat is cooler and we are back in Trudy is the perfect crescendo to this epic challenge 😉🌺 love to the family
Oh Marian ❤ I knew the minute I came across your channel you are such a kind good person, but knowing today that you have donated a kidney to a friend , you must be the kindest person alive , may God bless you both,,, sending you loads and loads of love ❤️
I hope you have a chance to drive up into the mountains of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand - the foot hills of the Himalayas. Blinding natural beauty and great local people. Check weather patterns though. Get onto the smaller roads and hike into local villages. Stay a few days if you find a place you like - then India can come to you naturally. There is so much more to see than the highways and big cities. This is a great time of year to drive to Leh, Ladakh. What about crossing the border into Nepal? There are many places to cross. Check visa situation crossing over land / your van permits. India is magical if you have heaps of time to discover it.
Hi Dianne - driving around the world is like a game of chess and with new border restrictions and difficulties with visas we have to keep going in a direction which allows us to go forward and not backwards - so we drove to Mumbai and now have arrived in Southern Africa to finish this challenge to drive around the world with something unplanned but just the perfect crescendo to this epic challenge finale !! Kind regards Marianne
More than most of the other travel channels, you guys actually show us what you are seeing while you travel. I feel I am right there in the front seat with you. Great film making.
No fastag then the tariff goes double the charge. You travel throughout India you have seen half of the world. Every State has its own language food habits and cultures yet it is Unity in diversity. We love ❤️ our India.
Loving this Indian adventure, now through the Thar desert region and the lovely Haveli hotel. Though was hoping for more local food content, the motorway shacks do have tasty food. Re cows it is customary to feed the local cows your first & last chapatti of the day.
Heres a tip: dont drivr close to private public buses, they're a CRAZY over getting first to get passengers and have buses that might just fall apart sometimes (they are privately owned by some people and try to keep cost of maintenance low). Always drive atleast 10m distance from them at emtpy national highways
Very interesting. I was in India, for a month, about 18 yr. ago. Traveled by private car (Toyota Land Cruiser) and driver with translator altho my friend was Indian!). Can't remember ever seeing a 4 land road except in a city or very close. Commonly, there were paved roads, two land, till we got to a small village or town. Then the paving ended, the road narrowed and bumps were notorious! It was very common to see cows, dogs, camels and even frequent elephants in the road. Trucks always had the right of way!! Was there in the dry season just as you are. Dust everyplace, even in the hotels. And, back then, I was amazed at the garbage everyplace. Seems to not have changed!! Mine was an amazing experience---which I would not repeat!!
Wondering how hungry you must b. There doesn’t seem to be any food on this trip. Maybe less roads and traffic and tolls and a bit more food as India would have wonderful local food
I spent 37 years in Sendai, Japan and so really enjoyed your videos of traversing the country, and I have watched all since then, as through work I also had the opportunity to go to many countries in Asia including Thailand (about 4 months in total) and India (maybe 6 months over 35 times). The tombstone like plates on the motorway median strips are, as you guessed, to stop the glare of headlights in the opposing traffic blinding you. This is especially effective because drivers in India tend to keep their headlights on high all the time at night, no matter whether there's opposing traffic or not. Also, the way I see it is that they have two right-of-way rules: (1) the vehicle that has its nose in first has right of way; but this may be trumped by (2) the vehicle that is going at the higher speed has right of way.
Can I just say that Maryann should really get the best woman driver 2024 award 😊. India has the most crazy driving, it's funny to watch though. I think I would just pull over and say no, I'm not doing it 😅. Take care guys and travel safe ❤
I really like the way you two respond to difficulties (like at a toll booth) with humor. Maybe if we all pretend to be on a world adventure, we’d all relax in traffic etc
The thing about India is that every stare is different. A country wiiithin a country. So many things will change, the Countryside, food housing, culture, the climate and even languages. That's one of the reasons its so fascinating I live in the South where its very tropical on the coast with coconut palms everywhere and magnificent ancient temples of Tamil Nadu and its ancient language
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne. The stone work in parts of India 🇮🇳 is incredible true craftsmanship . Marianne has nerves of steel to keep calm in the crazy India traffic. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s journey around the world. 🌎
Thank you, really enjoyed the vid. So understand how you are enjoying the quieter part of India, I found the noise and amount of chaos overwhelming also. You have such a big Trudy that you have done well driving her across India.
Thank you for this video. I am enjoying it so much. I travelled in india in 2005. This reminds me of so many great memories. Chris & Marianne , you are both amazing people with your courage, humour and friendly approach. I love the music chosen for your video also.Safe travelling. Greetings from Adelaide. Australia.
Can’t believe some of the comments - guys Marianne donated one of her kidneys to her best friend and on top of that they have a special system in their van that cleans the water so she keeps hydrated - the ey have to be extra careful when eating out. Chris and Marianne I hope you keep safe xxx
This episode was brilliant!! Never a dull moment in India. You both will miss India when you leave 😂 and Marianne you deserve a medal for driving there, hats off to you....👍
You are a wonderful couple. God bless you and be with you always. Traffic in India gets as chaotic as it can. Please take care. Use the horn as much as you can. Honking is considered normal in India.
that long vehicle is the Force Motors Trax Cruiser and it is a people mover here in India...so you usually see them on highways as a shared taxi that criss-cross villages and towns! What an adventure....you guys should come back...try out the other parts of India!
I learned many decades ago while traveling in India that the reason those cows are sacred is they're worth more on the hoof than a one meal protein blast on your plate. There used to be a LOT more street people/homeless everywhere, and the cows provided free milk for yoghurt and cheeses. The poop is immediately collected and formed into patties that are slapped everywhere to dry. They then serve as fuel for all the cooking fires, because India is such an ancient culture, it was basically deforested by the time of Christ so cow patties fill a big part of the fuel gap.
Make no mistake about it. Traffic does not work in India. It has one of the worst traffic records on the planet. When I was there in January we seen an accident nearly daily. There is a reason so many cars have dents.
I'm indian and i agree with this .. Traffic manners is very much neglected in the northern part of states . The South states (karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana are somewhat better in that and north east states except Assam. People from Manipur Mizoram Nagaland has best traffic manners)
Love to see from UK, hope you got good hospitality across India. There’s something more surprise when you drive around south India Kerala.Tamilnadu,Karnataka like climate and culture
FYI, if you are carrying a Carnet de Passage, you are not required to pay the toll tax at highways. Temporary imports are Toll free in India. Nice video btw. +1 Sub.❤🇮🇳
Thank you for taking us along. So interesting to see the amazing day-to-day sights along your journey across India. So many friendly people.🤩 But very scary roads. 😬
Love this couple and this fascinating journey through India. I don’t mind the road trip at all, I think it shows the typical chaos that is India. Aren’t the locals lovely. I wish I’d followed you from day 1 on your journey but I’ll just have to backtrack to the beginning. You make me want to go to India and experience it for myself. 😊 love from Australia.
You brought a smile to my face again - ‘Only 24degrees’ would be ‘Wow! It’s 24 degrees!’ In the U.K. 😂😂 You deserve nice hotels after all that hot dusty driving! Keep going! 🚌🚌
29:08 that reminds me of how I carefully gave a cat sat in the road plenty of room, and as I was driving away, she shied and gave me a dirty look! The cows on the other hand seem so serene!
Hello Ambassadors Great video again. I am now very sure that India is one of the chaotic country when it comes to it's traffic rules and regulations. Just be safe driving, it seems like anyone can jump in front of you in any direction while you least expected. Love from Florida ❤️❤️🇹🇷🇹🇷
I love a road trip and this one is great. I understand the hotel thing, just having that security and most of all comfort, stretching you legs etc at the end of the day. Can't wait for more!
Sorry to say this, but I have thoroughly enjoyed your channel since I found it when you entered Japan where i used to live. When you arrived in Kolkota, I got the sense you were overwhelmed with the difference, the poverty, squalor, and vastly different lifestyle from what you've been used to. I felt you've been wanting to push through India as quick as you are able to escape this. Sadly to the detriment of some stunning places you've appeared to miss out on ... Maybe I'm wrong but I do get the sense this isn't a country you're enjoying. Living in Africa it's a very similar lifestyle here in the west of the continent but it's also beautiful, fascinating and rewarding ❤😊
I see the same difference, but i think there are a few reasons that make India different. The heat and air quality does not allow sleeping in Trudy, even walking around is more difficult. They can really only park in secured hotel areas, so pit stops along the road are difficult. The food/ water cleanliness does not allow them to stop anywhere to get street food. It would be a big problem if they get sick.
Hi - yes I think the heat and getting sick a few times really didn't help - driving around the world it has been hard lining up weather windows, visas and routes - but we are now in SA and absolutely loving the cooler weather and being able to get back into Trudy and camp out !! Vanlife India was one of the toughest due to the heat (and being a kidney donor our health has been at the top of the priority list !!) Kind regards Marianne
@@TREADtheglobe You did a great job in India. It was too hot. I’m glad, you are safe in SA, is that Saudi Arabia? I feel sorry for Indians in that part of the world. It’s too hot for humans.
I think because they started from the most overwhelming places. West Bengal, Bihar and some regions of UP are the most densely populated regions of India and also some of the poorest region. And also it gets really hot in summer. Every state in India would differ in language and also the view outside. India is a very vast country with some regions having freezing temperatures and some being dessert while some tropical.
Hats off to you for driving in India and driving to the most hot places in India in this heat . Btw Tip for the toilet break . If you need to go to the toilet you can go to any hotel or restaurant on the highway , by law they cant refuse you to use the toilet . unlike some places where only customers can use the toilet .
You were dtiving through the Thar desert...re the tank...possibility an arjurn....India's lates variant...Thar desert is a large training area for their armed forces and a proving ground for the tank ....👍👍
Another great vlog thanks for taking me on your journey , I have always wanted to travel to India but that’s out of the question now I have ME so keep filming ❤ I look forward to your vlogs ♡
Kudos to you for trying to drive in India. I once tried to drive someone else's car in Bangladesh the cars handbrake didn't work and the foot brake was worn out. I almost went into a big ditch with a pond with the car. Thanks to the other person who was sitting in the passenger seat who intervened and turned my steering wheel. After that I vowed to never drive someone else's car in Bangladesh without checking if their car's handbrake and foot brake worked or not. It's not like in England.
Would love to see how you cope with food, meals, laundry, shopping, walking amidst heat wave. You are both brave travellers but enough road traffic and wandering cows!
Hi Guys. This was another enjoyable episode like every Sunday. You are going to be so bored when you are back home. The definition of an Adventure at the beginning was absolutely priceless.
Ha Ha - there will be more adventures in the future ... but we are looking forward to being back with family and friends and celebrating these incredible adventures 🚐😉🌷 and fabulous achievement 🙌🌺
29:04 did we decide that the cows go home somewhere to eat, or was that a different country? It doesn't look as though there's much to attract animals... but clearly they are fine with it!
Hey lady, you are an amazing driver, driving a bus in India is a very tough job,Because in small towns of India there are many unruly people who do not follow traffic rules.. I salute you.
I love the driving photography, especially when we see off down the side streets, or into the goings-on on the forecourts. As a child I was driven around in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa ( we lived in Lusaka, Zambia). And a tandem ride to northern France recently -mostly on the back -held similar joys.
To see the real India not a tourist travelogue is a perfect way to visit a country I always wanted to experience. Cows, poverty, crowded tuktuks, and workers that seem to never leave their post. Thank you for not showing us your meals but showing us the real country.
I love your videos and enjoy watching the passing scenery. The bird you saw in Johdpur, I think, is called a lapwing. We have them here in South Africa. Could the large lawn be a polo field? Rajasthan is my favourite part of India.
Have been following you for a while and it seems that India is just getting to you...shame, loved watching the restaurants you chose, the people you met, some background etc...
You can't blame them for wanting to leave as quickly as possible but it looks like the next country is Pakistan which is also going to be a nightmare 🤔😆😆
Great to see this video Marianne and Chris. . I've seen other videos at youtube about India and this one is very different because you are driving through India yourselves in a campervan. If you have time look out for Gabriel traveller's video's about India at youtube. He has been there many times but I like your videos as much as his. I'm gonna watch all your videos from India. Enjoy your voyage and many thanks!!
Omg !!! You guys are amazing the way you keep your cool navigating your way through a country which seems to have no driving laws 🤦♂️great series and content x
I love road trips and driving around too. After my retirement from this current 9-5 professional job, i want to get my HGV licence and drive around Europe, probably join Eddie Stobart 😊

India by luxury rail or luxury Ganges cruise, or LUX hotels, but driving is treacherous.

Best driver!
That's one of the reasons its so fascinating
I live in the South where its very tropical on the coast with coconut palms everywhere and magnificent ancient temples of Tamil Nadu and its ancient language
every *state
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne.
16:32 lol love that laugh when you see some truck or coach driving on the wrong side of the road.
They both have epic laughs 😁
this is india everything is possible 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 honkings
that long vehicle is the Force Motors Trax Cruiser and it is a people mover here in India...so you usually see them on highways as a shared taxi that criss-cross villages and towns! What an adventure....you guys should come back...try out the other parts of India!
I love Chris' laugh.Its infectious !
The one thing I love about your around the world drive is that I feel like I am actually in Trudy with you two instead on on the sofa in the UK.
Thanks Jack
Make no mistake about it. Traffic does not work in India. It has one of the worst traffic records on the planet. When I was there in January we seen an accident nearly daily. There is a reason so many cars have dents.
I saw that!
I'm indian and i agree with this ..
Traffic manners is very much neglected in the northern part of states .
The South states (karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana are somewhat better in that and north east states except Assam. People from Manipur Mizoram Nagaland has best traffic manners)
Entering Inside Helsinki House, feels like you entering the castle in the past to see the Maharaja & Maharani!
The roads are terrific, even in the remote parts of India we got 4 lanes smooth roads. This is a big achievement
The music you are playing in the background is fantastic 🙏🇮🇳
Phew! That was some drive! I hope you show us around the hotel before you leave. What a beautiful place to stay.. Love from Australia.🦘🦘🦘
Love to see from UK, hope you got good hospitality across India. There’s something more surprise when you drive around south India Kerala.Tamilnadu,Karnataka like climate and culture
Yes we have heard that the south if India is very different to the the North - as we always say it gives us a reason to go back
FYI, if you are carrying a Carnet de Passage, you are not required to pay the toll tax at highways.
Thanks Miriam - Kind regards M xx
Hi. If you're a woman & will travel solo in India, do lots of research esp re: female safety.
The cows are incredible !! Really surprised how calm they were walking through the traffic and sleeping next to huge trucks 🌷😉
To much driving for sure, mix it up guys ❤❤
They Said so dam hot cannot stay outside to long and take so long get to places .Heat would kill me
Yep - the heat has made it tougher to be and show outside - but there is a fabulous village adventure coming next week 😉🌷
Unfortunately you missed a lot of beautiful sights in Jaipur and Jodpur.
Those women on the side of the road selling green leaves is used for cooking with lentils and eating with either rice, roti or ragi balls.
No they are selling for cow.
Hello Ambassadors
Great video again.
And getting into air con - 30-37c at night is no joke !!
i admire your fortitude
I feel the same. There is a disconnect here compared to other countries.
I did wonder how you were coping with all the chaos. I don’t blame you for just wanting to get through to some peace.
Jaisalmer is famous for the yellow sandstone called golden stone...a famous film was made many decades ago by Satyajit Ray called the Golden Fort
ثنائي جميل ...
كنت اتسائل هل ستزورون دول الخليج العربي ..؟؟
اتمنى لكم اوقات ممتعة في رحلتكم .
From your travels its fascinated me how the world hasn't got a standard colour for petrol and diesel, you've done really well not messing up
Again, you’ve chosen the most beautiful music to accompany a video. Lovely!
what a stunning region it is, and as always you find the friendliest souls where ever you go xx
Why is there no footage of the food or restaurants you have visited in India? It would be great to see authentic Indian food.
Hi Kay - we will be sharing a video about food on our next adventure as we visit a family in the desert in Jaisalmer 😉🌷
Just love your hotel! Rajasthan is an amazing place. Lots of beautiful things to see and experience. I particularly love Jodhpur.
E so glad when u are finished with India
Wondering why you are not filming your food adventures. I’m missing those!
We will be sharing food again soon, but we have both been poorly 😉🙏
Hope poorly changes to doing great soon
I am in awe every week as I watch your videos... wish I was doing that journey myself. Enjoy the ride, you deserve it.❤
Great content, miss you enjoying your different types of food and the value of it
Would love to see how you cope with food, meals, laundry, shopping, walking amidst heat wave.
You should also visit South India Sir. The traffic congestion that you see is a common scene. Happy and Safe Driving.
Sat here watching you from Krakow. Hoping the traffic is calm on sunday morning we are not stealth travellers like you lol. Keep safe xx
Love your videos. Cannot wait for the next one. From Durban, South Africa.
Hi . The camals looked happy. None of them had the hump
I have only visited Bombay and Delhi but have no desire to return and your video's convince me I'm not wrong.
I love your videos and enjoy watching the passing scenery. The bird you saw in Johdpur, I think, is called a lapwing. We have them here in South Africa. Could the large lawn be a polo field? Rajasthan is my favourite part of India.
We have them also in New Zealand..we call them polver….noisey things they are .
Best tip..learn a few words..hello..morning..how much..thank you etc..
Have been following you for a while and it seems that India is just getting to you...shame, loved watching the restaurants you chose, the people you met, some background etc...
""Cow Traffic" :) Awesome hotel at the end of the video. Like going back in time.
Yes it was a lovely hotel - a good find !!
India seems like endless driving and very little culture shown, looks like you guys are in a hurry?
You can't blame them for wanting to leave as quickly as possible but it looks like the next country is Pakistan which is also going to be a nightmare 🤔😆😆
They have to keep going . Due back in UK August time . Visa and shipping don't wait .
@@VikingJack-il4hwThey are shipping from Mumbai so it's not going to be Pakistan.
I'm not fluent in English to understand all your words but enjoyed lot more ,Stay safe n saty healthy-Pawan Kumar From Haryana
Glad you enjoyed it!
Once again really enjoying ur journey thanks for sharing 😊
That cruiser Vehicle in video at toll plaza is from force motors and this Vehicle use Mercedes Benz engine and also produce Mercedes engine in India
Fantastic places
And again fantastic driving
You have travelled to many countries, some which are on my bucket list to visit also, but India is one country I will give a wide berth
Omg !!! You guys are amazing the way you keep your cool navigating your way through a country which seems to have no driving laws 🤦♂️great series and content x
Thanks! 😃
Thank you for sharing the adventure!
Absolutely fascinating, thank you for sharing this adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Show us some food that you must be eating. How did you like Jaipur, the pink city. I heve been there and just loved it.
I love road trips and driving around too. After my retirement from this current 9-5 professional job, i want to get my HGV licence and drive around Europe, probably join Eddie Stobart 😊
Highways are beautiful. Govt is doing good job
Do visit Karnataka, especially Tirthahalli - Mudigere - Balehonnur (for amazing coffee eststes)
Agumbe-(rainforest) Kudremukha (National park/forest range) Bandipur-Nagarahole (tiger reserve)
