  • I can’t wait to show you my consignment and thrift store finds that saved our family thousands of dollars in 2019 compared to buying at regular retail. Check out this RUclips consignment and thrift store haul video for home décor and lifestyle ideas and inspiration. Now that part of of our New England home remodel is complete I’ve been busy shopping for home décor items at consignment stores, thrift stores, and stores such as TJ Maxx and Homegoods. You will even see an item used by Martha Stewart’s team in my kitchen, alongside Ina Garten Cookbooks, and other items that look perfect for those looking to create a New England style home or English Country home.

I love your home and style, I am a transplant to the Midwest and am still homesick. I do like the bright colors of the cook books, I they work and more importantly they're what you love, and that is what makes your house a home, and a classically beautiful one too! So much of today's decor is matchy, matchy and just looks contrived and unstylish. I believe a home should reflect you and your tastes, yours is just lovely! Thanks for sharing it with us!

The molds that you showed first are for a french dessert called "Canelè De Bordeaux". The dessert is made with bees wax to make the perfect crust. If you got those molds for a dollar you made quite a purchase! The short, fluted molds are Brioche Pans.

The little tins are jello molds. We had them in our home when I was growing up. It was turned upside down and usually had a dollop of whip cream on it or a dollop of mayo on it.......especially if it was lime jello with shredded carrots in the lime jello. Mother always turned them upside down and after a few minutes they just slid out from the heat in the room. Only removed right before serving them with dinner or luncheon so the jello held up.
Love your dishes........I love different dishes and a variety as well.Blessings

Is it the same pattern? Mine might be a rice bed too. The name of the bed eluded me during the video and now that I’m hearing that, I remember selling rice beds when I sold reproduction furniture many moons ago.

Your bed appears to be exactly the same as mine except the long part of the poster of mine has groves. The carved rice grain part is the same, and the part below has carved leaves which I think are tobacco leaves . The rest of your bed appears to be just like mine. I have a matching highboy, and both are solid mahogany . I just discovered your youtube and look forward to viewing many more.

Wow! I haven’t seen Ironstone since I have been to my cousins’ grandmother’s house when I was around 10 years old. Strange what memories we retain as young children. I’m keeping that in mind when my grandchildren are at my house. I want to redecorate my house but my 2 year old grandson always points to a large wooden star above the couch and a picture of our chocolate lab and my son’s pit bull that was printed on canvas. Loved the video.

I love thrifting and consignment shopping, buying and coveting all things for the home! Love your house! You probably have already had responses to the aluminum molds that you held up in the kitchen (and asked what they were). The second set of fluted molds are for shaping and baking brioche dough....those look to be individual sized portioned containers. I made brioche in culinary school; but, you can use those for shaping (other than baking) foods for individual portions.

The tin molds are ice cream molds. I saw them used in a vintage movie. Pack ice cream in them, freeze and release the ice cream by soaking the tin mold in warm water briefly, and flip over onto a dessert plate.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. I love seeing what you’ve put together from consignment. I love doing that too. The best part is being able to have designer items at bargain prices. Thanks for sharing your projects and letting us see them while they’re still in progress. I seem to always have a project going on. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who moves furniture around and rearranges entire rooms. Love what you’re doing and love your videos!

Thank you for watching! And yes, always moving things. Queen Bess has already been moved to the dining room and a hutch put in her place LOL

The fluted cups are called aspic cups. My grandmother used them to make tomato aspic for her bridge club. Here's Southern Liviing's recipe for tomato aspic. It looks to be pretty close to how I remember my grandmother's.
