I grew up on Mac OS and I have this strange fascination with watching videos explaining it to people migrating over. This was one of the best ones I've seen so far -- quick and to the point
Since I'm new to Mac, I've been watching tons of videos in preparation and I just stumbled across this video. It's the best I've seen so far because it's short and concise without overexplaining anything like most of the other videos I've watched. It was extremely easy to digest in less than 5 minutes!! I just subscribed to your channel and plan on binge watching your videos to start my journey as a new Mac user. Thanks for the useful info!
3:42 Or hold Option and click on green button to maximize window (like full screen on Windows), or hold Option and double click on the right corner of specific app to maximize windows without entering full screen.
Mac OS does suck out of the box, but once you have it customized using the 3rd party apps, it's probably the best OS out there, and I've been a hardcore Windows or even Linux user all my life.
Funny. I don’t need a ton of extensions to get macOS work the way I need it to work. I also have all the extensions for Safari I need. So, needing a lot of extensions or Safari being bad regarding extensions is not the case. I get why you’re saying that stuff, but it’s just not true per se. Approaching macOS like it’s just supposed to do things the way you are used to is like approaching people with the intent of them acting the way you’re used to. Attempting to understand and get a feeling for the thing is way better and, most importantly, healthier for both sides. Maybe I’m just too flexible in comparison to many people. Yes, macOS is a product. But it still only makes sense to be open minded and trying to find the way things are intended to work instead of forcing your way on it. The opposite kind of approach would only cause problems and frustration, which would lead to a waste of time and resources. This video is. Good introduction, but is sadly raises the expectation of certain things not working as intended, which isn’t true. Things will change, so will our workflow. I think it’d be fair to people staring out with any OS to give them a basic understanding without adding a custom to it. I like your humour, by the way. And yeah, I still learn shortcuts and stuff. Many, even people thinking they’re professionals (mostly referring to people on RUclips here and people being salty about things they don’t understand), just won’t even try to get a look into things and end up complaining when things could be so easy. Anyway, that’s my two cents. 😀 I only found out some of the following things because I was interested in using the system the way it’s intended: _ pressing harder on an icon in the dock will reveal the windows currently open _ using two fingers to swipe from the right border of the touchpad to the left will open the notification centre _ you can create a pdf with selected files via quick actions by right-clicking the selected files
Do you happen to know if parallels windows 11 can open 32bit apps on M1 Mac now? Really wanna buy MBP14 after watching your vids, but my work has a 32bit app i need to use, this has been stopping me from buying it.
I’m a Software Developer. I’ve been using windows since 10 years. Now planning to switch to Mac. Can you please advise which one is recommended among 14” vs 16” Thanks in advance 🙏
I've never used the 16" so I can't really give u advice but I picked the 14" because I like the extra portability that it offers. It also has a large enough screen for me.
Totally correct; Mac sucks out of the box. I used windows from 1993 to 2023 and then switched to a MacBook Pro. It was painful at first but now that I have a MOS, LinearMouse, BetterTouchTool, Magnet and a few others (Vivid, EqMac, Black Hole) I am more than happy. It is excellent for productivity and opens up so many new ways to use a laptop (e.g Sidecar with iPad), while solving the issues plaguing Windows laptops (poor battery life, noise, discontinuity with frequent restarts). It handles demanding workloads (e.g viewing histopathology slides in QuPath and reading multi-gig textbooks) easily and how well Parallels works is a shocker. The only downside is the hardware and software are expensive and gaming is limited.
macOS and windows user. 50/50 based on task at hand. Can confirm that macOS is a horrible user interface. By horrible I mean it was designed to be annoying and appeal to people who “think different” meaning morons with delicate accents.
A laptop is a tool, I think you are going a bit too far with all of these third party apps, settings etc... I think if you pay 2500 dollars for a laptop, it should be just fine out of the box. If not, its not a good laptop.
Can i get pinned please? I love your work. So straight forward and fun! Keep it up! I don’t even have a mac but i still watch your videos!
Well, just this once. Thanks for watching

What do you have on the top of your Mac? Is that a sticker? Could you leave a link?
It's a skin from dBrand. It's called the solstice skin.
