The "Academy" should have had him removed from the premises. Watching him create a scene when law enforcement told him to leave would have been the 2nd highlight of the evening.

Utterly disgusting and my second deception from that night
After the fact, the police even met with him and the event coordinator and Rock STILL said he didn't want Smith arrested. I think that was a terrible mistake, and I think the proof of that is found in the utterly deranged way all those celebs APPLAUDED Smith when he gave that unhinged "speech" later in the night where he never once apologized for his CRIME. Rock should have held him accountable for that, but he did what he did for all the best reasons. Dude comes out of this looking like an absolute saint. I'll never purchase a Will Smith product again, I can tell you that.
I love when Will Smith said in his acceptance speech; “Denzel said to me, just a few minutes ago: Be careful. At your highest moment, that’s when the devil comes for you”.. Great, Denzel. But couldn’t you have said that to him BEFORE he decided to slap Chris Rock??? 😂
What's evem more interesting is how much conceit Will Smith has. Notice, poeple like him refuse to take all of the blame and attention to just himself when they are cleary in the wrong. Like alot of people, I'm a Will Smith fan.. so this whole situation was incredibly disappointing and sad. I was also a Chris Rock fan but on the bright side, I'm now a HUGE Rock fan. Chris handled this unforgivable moment with so much class.
I like Rock, too, but you said you liked Will Smith. Why? That horribly staged pro-wrestling act was pretty bad, but I have it as #1 in the acting career of Will Smith. He is absolutely horrible. And his rapping.......... Rock's work on CB4 is better than any of Will's rap, and CB4 is a parody that makes fun of rappers. I would say this was a disgrace for Will, but it marks an improvement in his acting.
@@chuckeecheeze4649 saying Will Smith is a bad actor is where we are just gonna have to disagree. I feel because of the whole Jada thing, and your private life being in the spotlight.. he snapped. But no excuses. He made his bed out of anger and frustration.. now lie in it. So I was very disappointed in seeing Will act that way. But of course, always was a Chris Rock fan.. not just his comedy, the movie Spiral proved he's a damn good actor in a serious horror type of movie... so now I'm an even bigger fan of Chris Rock, the person. But yes, I liked most of Will Smith's movies... his rap.. lol, not at all.
This sums up my feelings exactly. Huge Will Smith fan, always have been (I'm from Philly so I knew of him way back when his rap albums were huge hits, before Bel Air, he & Jazzy Jeff were local folk heroes, so to speak) and he's always had the reputation of being super nice & kind...I liked Jada, but never really knew much about her before or since the Matrix Sequels...and always been a huge Chris Rock fan way back to Everybody Hates Chris & before. So this was a confluence of strange feelings for me when I saw it. I couldn't and still can't believe it. Now I feel sympathy for Will knowing a bit more about Jada (much like Amber Heard & Johnny Depp - Team Johnny BTW). Will is a beaten man (psychologically obviously - maybe even physically, who knows...?) but the way Chris handled it, live, on stage, at the OSCARS (!), in front of ALL of his peers, and televised to the world...he's a class act. Chris will be fine. Hopefully Will will get out of that marriage of convenience (convenient to Jada, not Will). And hopefully Jada will fade into historical oblivion for having destroyed Will Smith's record of Mr. Nice Guy.
Please. Meanwhile Adrian Brody forcibly kissed Halle Berry agaisnt her will at the Oscars and i bet you dodbt even blink at that. Spare me your outrage. Chris got what he had coming to hin for over a decade
When Chris Rock said "Emm you know what, I could... " and then decided not to ruin and destroy Smiths soul that night. He gains me a fan and I respect the restraint and quickness he processes the situation and thinks of the future consequences. Very well done
I thought it was great because you could see him winding back to knock the crap out of Smith, but then he just lets it go and tries to keep going with his skit.
Will actually said "wife's mouth". I mean he tee'd it up so easy you don't need to be a brilliant comic like Chris Rock to pounce on it. Lots of restraint.
I'm going to take a guess that even she assumed it was a joke at that point, or at the very least was hoping it would be taken that way. It wasn't until Will Smith started shouting (particularly the aggression of the second time) that everyone knew shit was real and the incident couldn't just be laughed off.

We need to bring down the wages of the celebs in Hollywood. They are too entitled and coddled. The rest of society they don't care about. The ask us to fund things like the disaster in Hawaii but the celebs have all the money to do it, not the normal person living check to check.
I don’t think so, not all of them are like this. We shouldn’t force people to give their money away and they make way more money than we do because the films they’re in produces lots of money just like how sports players get paid. Anyway what I think we really need to do is look at our government and our politicians and see how they waste our tax dollars and then ask for more money to waste it on more things. For example our tax dollars are going to Ukraine and Israel causing a lot of the problems that we have right now. When instead we could have used that money to help our country with its problems including Lahaina’s problems.
@@Boneyard44 they aren’t if the film companies are making enough money to pay them that much. The fact that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock still makes me angry. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians and I couldn’t bear to see him get smacked in front of so many celebrities anticipating their awards. What Will Smith did was ridiculous, cruel, violent, unforgivable and disgusting and I agree that he needed a punishment of being banned from the Academy for the next decade. Will Smith took it too far.
What makes me “angry”? maybe not how about puzzled is when Will complained and got insulted with Chris’s comeback of the slap. It took a year for Chris to retaliate that embarrassing assault, he could’ve pressed charges on Will. How dare Will think he’s godlike and expect Chris not to say anything in comedy?? Chris roasted Will. Will should’ve taken it quietly and let it go. Disappointed in Will.
@@cynthiatucker2147 I don’t blame you nor Chris Rock for his post-2022 Oscars trauma. Heck, Chris even declined to host the Oscars this year for that reason.
It's funny that if any regular person did something like this they'd have been escorted out of the building and probably get charged. I'm glad Chris Rock did get some payback when he repeatedly called Will a B!tch on his comedy special lmao. Then points out that of all the ppl laughing at Will and talking sh!t about his marriage, the person he goes after is Chris Rock. Like, what a tough guy lol.
I’d respect him slapping his sons friend who’s been clapping Jada’s cheeks. But you went after a man who told a tame ass joke. Until the Oscars I’d never seen a bitch slap where the slapper ended up looking like a bitch and the slapee like a G
That Jada has got some control over Will - he laughs at the joke, looks at her and thinks - 'oh, shit - I'd rather do time then deal with her later'. He gets up and slaps Chris. I don't think any punishment was scarier to him than her response. He's living in fear.
Jada 'The Succubus' Pinkett, is able to play Will like a puppet by his short and curlies/whebos/pubes... She strikes me as an Amber Heard type of mentality, horrendously abusive and demeaning, but paying both the feminine, wife/ex-wife, celebrity victim, & racial cards when needed, upon the largely unknowing public, to twist the mind knives further and further for her incesant need to belittle others, also having been a victim of typical American parental usage for money since & from her childhood acting days, she learned early on how to use people to get some power & vengence back indirectly upon others - Is my guess, and it's only natural a response too, being fair, in that regard. But it helped construct asect of her hidden self, that causes many not to like her as a person. She's likely can be quite violent, one other reason for hair loss is the stress of keeping abuse & abusiveness hidden, as much as it makes fighting back harder with less to grab at assuming she's the aggressive one.
The silence after that slap, Chris not knowing exactly how to proceed, nothing coming to the aggressor, smith, hard to accept that security just let it go.

Chris Rock is an incredibly brave and courageous man, and undeniably has a strong personality (ten times stronger than Will Smith's, for sure). NO ONE on earth could have handled that ridiculous and undeserved slap better than Chris Rock did. Chris knew that at that moment in front of 17 million people, he alone was representing the entire Oscar ceremony to the world. And Chris Rock instinctively KNEW there was only one response that would salvage his own image AND the integrity of the Oscar ceremonies, in the face of an actual PHYSICAL ASSAULT - and that was to act as if it never happened. So that's exactly what he did! Out of a hundred possible responses Chris Rock could have made - fall to the ground dramatically like a world cup player, scream a barrage of curses, run backstage to arm up, or perhaps even grab a nearby mike stand and try to beat Will Smith to death with it - Rock picked the sole response that allowed him and the Oscar ceremonies to maintain a modicum of dignity! Like alot of people, I'm a Will Smith fan.. so this whole situation was incredibly disappointing and sad. I was also a Chris Rock fan but on the bright side, I'm now a HUGE Rock fan. Chris handled this unforgivable moment with so much class.
100% agree. I too hope Will can somehow make this right, but if there is a way, it's going take some time.
Nice Guy.

At that moment I never admired and respected Chris Rock more. It was without a doubt the most courageous thing I have ever seen, at any live show anytime.

I couldn’t be more disgusted by the moral bankruptcy of today’s entertainment industry; because I recognize it’s matched by the artistic mediocrity of what they produce. You seem to be offended because I called out the disgraceful behavior I see in modern culture. Yet, instead of reflecting on my observations; you lash out with a barrage of blind judgments against me. However I’m quite confident your comments are a reflection of your own personal moral failures; which is why you defend such appalling behavior. Look up the definition of the word “projection” and you’ll understand what I mean.
@@cindytram471 I have an enviable life as professional songwriter, artist, producer and host of my own successful series “Only Kid With a Camera”. Believe me I am not jealous of anything to do with modern pop culture. I grew up in the ‘70s when Hollywood produced masterpieces and actors would be laughed out of room if they behaved like Will and Jada. People had class in those days; a character trait that’s been absent from the entertainment industry over the past 10 years. The fact that he was aloud to stay after hitting someone is messed up.

It's called hollyweird for a reason pal. If it was a female presenter he slapped they still probably wouldn't of kicked him out. They all knew about Weinstein being a rapist and didn't give a flying monkeys ass so they aren't gonna care about a slap lol.
What surprised me is chris didn't press charges and demand will be locked up like anybody else
I love how will made the joke live forever. The joke would have just went away. But now it's here forever.
I’m still appalled no one from the Oscar’s staff prevented Will from continuing on stage or removed him immediately. Those people should be the ones they ridicule the most on social media.
@@Digitqlhdh1 Well there goes 2000 years of security and bodyguards for VIP’s. Stay assassinating ATM’s Poindexter. 🤓
@@Digitqlhdh1 that’s like saying it’s ok for cops to sit by and while someone get assaulted, then letting the suspect walk away.
They are completely spineless
@@Digitqlhdh1 Does someone who watches an aware crime and doesn’t stop it get convicted equally? Every security in that arena should have rushed to stop Will from that stage. If a concert goer gets on stage and slaps a lead singer (or worse) should security not be questioned and dealt with? You know what’s up…don’t try to salvage your original dumb comment.
Not a single person watching in the crowd, at home, security or whoever thought he was gonna do that. Even Chris rock thought will was gonna do something funny. Will let himself down and was an absolute idiot.
It would've been so funny if he said "It's going to take me till August to get over that entanglement." The burn would've been so colossal.
Will Smith should of been escorted out, and denied his oscar....if he felt that bad about it he should of walked himself out in shame and left his Oscar behind. Just despicable and sad.
Like how Chris kept his composure like a professional. We know who has more class
But for real Chris kept his composure and professional someone else would of retaliated
I was very impressed by his recovery from that. I wouldn't have handled that so well.
I would have ducked.
That's also another tragedy that no one intervened. He should have been arrested and escorted out by the police.
@@davidalangay1186 same here I was very surprised to and I would of hit back
0:30 🤣🤣🤣 Not only did he peep out from under her dress, he looked like "You gonna let him talk about our girl like that?!"🤣🤣
Exactly. "I'm busy with your wife, you got to handle that."
Donald Trump at 0:25 🤣
Love the part where the guys she's with is going down on her underneath her dress right in front of him. Way to make it this South Park adaptation cartoon realistic *chef kiss*
That's August lol
'Chefs kiss'.......'hello children'
Anyone notice the Dutch flag on Liam Payne?
I noticed August Alsina 😆😂😂😂😂
Maybe he converted to Dutchism 🇳🇱🧀🌷
And Donald trump's
Nice animation and funny
yeah and Trump with the US Flag.
The saddest thing about this was how everyone sat there and continue to laugh. Even giving standing ovation to Will Smith for an award after assault Chris in this way.
That’s Hollywood 🤷🏾♂️ if it’s one thing they can do it’s fake Tha funk
That’s Hollywood
Hollywood have more money that us, but they aren't actually better than us. Hollywood is full of complete trash. Rich trash, but still common gutter trash.
The program was still running and nobody died so it had to be played off or de-escalated. Even if it's treated like a gag. So yeah laughing it off is one way to move on from the shock.
The saddest things is the amount of things people allow comedians to get away with. Don't believe just read up Chris Rock and Bill Cosby. Prefect example classic example. One target worldwide famous people for his client the devil of Hollywood the other is a Serial rapist whose happened to be best friends with the devil themselves.
Chris Rock stayed to finish the show while Will Smith's career slipped quietly out the back door
I wish this was true, but he seems to already be completely forgiven and back to work despite yet having never taken responsibility for his actions. His family is a disaster. The man needs help, I'm not completely unsympathetic to him, but by every metric that actually matters, Smith is a man in crisis. And nobody cares, least of all the system profiting off of him. Dude's going to be starring in movies.
Chris stopped himself from verbally murdering the smiths lol
Can't wait until he comes out with the 15minutes that immediately came to mind.
Yes, I saw that!
Lmao when Chris saids that’s the greatest night he knew at that moment it was pay day
he should have really hit hard with jokes. heres a weak one i just made up.... its obvious who wears the trousers in their house, AUGUST
Best part was when Will Smith was laughing his ass off at Chris Rock’s funny joke.
If the Rock had made that joke, Will would not have done a thing.
Will Smith = coward.
This just makes me feel more for Chris. That was some tough sh*t to recover from right in front of the entire planet and all of Posterity.
Rocks last comment - truly was the greatest comment in the history of television. He just cemented his place in history as iconic, if he hadn’t already done so. What a consummate professional he is.
No it’s not. The whole thing is an embarrassment. It’s a despicable thing, and Chris Rock handled it with grace but nothing about the situation is “the greatest comment in the history of television”
@@chrisbarrett2117 You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I'll stay with my opinion and still think it was a stellar comment made at that moment. Shows what a quick thinker Rock is
No matter what version I see … Will Smiths rage always cracks me up.
😂 same and rocks laugh
@@BBoyd-ce2yy Haha yes! He takes it all so calmly and a bit goofy too.
this was very well done. I was shocked to see it. I'm ashamed at will for this attack.
