Awesome well-focused video. All new bassoonists can benefit from this. Don't forget to use the whisper and resonance key where called for in all this LOL. I mean who would forget that?
My bassoon doesn't have a metal liner. It is just a hole drilled at a precise sizr and angle. I found that not only does the hole have to be covered correctly, but it is sensitive to where around the hole is covered. That is a thing of the past for me now but at first is was a bit frustrating. Experimentation helps find the sweet spot.
The hard part is speeding up playing through the transition. I am struggling with this. All I can think of is to practice practice practice. Weissenborn (Morelli) Lessons XI-XIV have plenty of studies to help develop my skills. A follow up lesson with you is called for, and I plan to schedule one sometime through the break after two concerts we have coming up.
Thanks for doing this Natalie. It is very much appreciated.

For how long do you soak the reeds in water before playing? Do you keep reeds soaking in water while you are playing?

Several minutes before playing! If it is really dry I will soak it in the middle of a practice session/rehearsal but usually I don’t need to

First, also this would have been useful a few weeks ago when I was learning the note g.
